Cleanliness was great and the food was great
Lack of staff help and friendliness
Staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The view from our room was lovely. This is a family friendly resort with lots of locals enjoying the water features.
Being without a car makes this a poor choice. The shuttle runs at two hour intervals. The recent renovations can't change a 70's venue; it still feels tired. The food looked like it was from a fast-food restaurant. Not Starwood quality.
Very friendly staff and lots of activities near and onsite
Fitness centre Views Bar staff Bell staff
Check in was slow Hidden costs
In adequate pool for the number of guests. Too many noisy undisciplined children.
Great Place! Great view! Great value! Great people! I've been here twice. It's a great place to stay.
Great experience to see mantarays. Great large rooms with connecting doors.
No sand beach Food was expensive
seeing the manta rays from the restaurant
the pool was a bit outdated
The location was good and the resort was nice and clean.
That we booked a room months in advance and wanted two queens and we had to stay in a room with one king and a roll away bed which we still paid the same price for.
The location was great as was the staff, and the food service was better than expected and in some cases wonderful, except for one area.
The pastries were generally not good and stood our from the otherwise good food.
Good was far below averaged /room service delivered in a paper bag not even on a tray or table. Rooms desperately need updating
just the pool
The room was out dated and dirty I had to call and ask if they would be doing a better job of cleaning the sink and toilet . witch they did for one day . It is way over rated for the price. $30.00 resort taxes a day is way to high for this hotel.
Great hotel !!! View !!! pools!!! Sunsets, Value for $150
Extra $30 per day hotel fee. Walk 100 yards to car, or pay $7 and wait, and they bring it.???
Restaurant was good
No beach, far from other restaurants
Bed was big and comfy; rooms were modern. The staff was very nice. The beachside location is prime.
Food was terrible; ALL room service is served in plastic cups, and paper plates with plastic knives and forks in the name of "environment". However, anybody who knows anything about living environmentally friendly knows that washing and reusing plates is much easier on the planet than use and recycle. This is all about profit margin, so don't be fooled. That said, the food was lousy anyway, so it probably didn't deserve to be on a real plate. We ordered the "mai tai for 2" and received 2 airplane bottles of rum and a 3 oz bottle of sweet & sour mix and two plastic cups with ice. This is not a 4 star resort. You can do much better for your money and be much closer to the restaurants and night life.
We loved the ocean view room we stayed. And kids were having a great time in the pool.
It's a pity that we missed the chance to see the rays.
The pool and fitness room were very good and exceptionally clean.
The door in my room would make humming noises when the wind blew.
Away from the main strip hence quite quiet.
Rays By The Bay Restaurant not impressive. We were there for the Valentine dinner. Food was cold and insipid.
Hotel was lovely! The concierge staff were amazing and so helpful
WiFi was very intermittent in bedrooms and around pool
Very beautiful location. Was not too crowded. Beautiful artwork on public walls.
Needs major upgrades. Our room was in need of renovations. For the price we paid I have been in nicer hotels.
The grounds were great, the pool was pretty, the valet guys were bomb!!!!
The room was horrible, the bathroom paint was peeling the door jam was rotting. The pool wasn't heated, my view of the mountain...what a joke!! My view was of the tennis courts! The buffet...another joke...over priced. For the price I paid, I expected top of the line rooms with gorgeous bathrooms and fancy food...not so much. Won't stay here again, I could have gotten the same room at Motel 6 for much cheaper.
Adding a resort fee to the price is false advertising.
The room was large, and with amazing view of the ocean. The sunset at the main bar ("Rays on the Bay") was spectacular. Staff were nice and professional. The hotel offers a "hospitality room" that guests can use to freshen up during their last day (after check out, for example before their evening flight).
The location is beautiful, but prospective guests should note it is a bit far away from Kona town center and the airport (actually the southernmost hotel in the region)
