Red Roof Inn PLUS+ St. Louis - Forest Park / Hampton Ave., hotel in Saint Louis

Just off Interstate 44 and less than 2 miles from Forest Park and the Saint Louis Zoo, this hotel features guest rooms with flat-screen TVs.

Very difficult to find with car GPS sending us to Granite City instead of St Louis, the dates were wrong reserved for 4/30 - 5/1, no remote for TV, non working, one bed very obviously remade with same bedding, bathtub had hair around drain and had to call desk to have smoke alarm fixed due to constant loud chirping at 1:30 AM. Red Roof Inn in Erie PA was an absolute pleasure, NOT St Louis!

The room was so spacious it was perfect for our family of 5. We added a full size air mattress and still had space with the two queen beds and full size pull out couch. The set up is great for the family, we all enjoyed it! The beds where so comfy, the breakfast great, the time the Buffett was open was perfect, great food as well. And the late check out time .... just the best for worn out moms lol. Also having the restaurant next door was just the best.

We went for a Cancer Survivors Celebration, and while there we went b ack to the Museum of History in Forrest Park. It was more than our old broken bodies could handle and we left after two hours. Went to the "HILL", Italian section of town for dinner. We went to Mama's on the Hill and had another great meal. Meals are large, so we share a side salad and an entree. Never an issue, they bring an extra plate. There are numerous other Italian restaurants and we have eaten in several of them. All were good. The Hill is only about 2 miles from the Museum or from Barnes Jewish Hospital, take KingsHighway, prob North maybe west from the Hospital. Watch for signs about the Hill go about 1 1/2 miles or so crossing the two interstate hiways. Turn right off of Kingshighway either on Shaw or Southwest something. Right past a 4 or 5 story U HAUL business!

Despite initial concerns about safety, my personal experience contradicted those worries. I discovered that the area around the Arch and Ballpark Village was safe to walk around during the day, Had mouthwatering tacos and margaritas at Condado Tacos at the Ballpark village. ,To explore further, we opted for Uber rides at night and were rewarded with the breathtaking sight of the Anheuser Busch St. Louis Brewery lights. Explored the St. Louis Zoo, a free and delightful experience. Overall, while some caution is advisable, my trip revealed that with sensible precautions, St. Louis can be a wonderful and safe destination to explore. Will have to check out the botanical gardens on our next visit.

If it was not for Anheuser-Busch, I would not come back to St Louis. The Arch was good and was a monument to see but Anheuser-Busch was the highlight of our trip. The only reason I would return would be because I would go back to see Anheuser-Busch. They know how to treat people and are just an awesome place to go.

The hotel was next to a main highway and only around 5 miles from the stadium and downtown. It makes it an ideal location for anyone who’s planning to visit the city and not hang around the hotel. The room was clean and the staff friendly. A lot of comments mention the surrounding area looking rough and that may be true but we had no issues. The parking lot is fenced in, there are cameras in the parking lot and security at night. We felt perfectly safe.

The staff were lovely, I couldn’t fault them, from the man who checked me in to the security guard at the door, from the cleaners to the woman on the front desk who checked me out. They were just really lovely people trying to help guests as best they could. The layout of the room was nice, having the separate area to wash up was great. The bed was good and big and quite comfortable. The tv was a nice size too and easy to use.

Clean, comfortable beds. Comfortable bathrobes. Very art deco in style and decor. Close to downtown. If you don’t want to eat at the hotel, there are several restaurants within walking distance. The city museum is literally next door. Downtown is very accessible on foot. Throughout our stay I also received several text communications from the hotel inquiring what they could do to improve our experience.

The Club is a beautiful place to stay when visiting Saint Louis. We attended a Cardinals game and thankful for the shuttle to get us there and back. The traffic was crazy but the driver managed just fine. We were glad to have a safe place downtown to park our car as well.
