A good location to the convention center.
The hotel is in renovation, and it's looks like a big constriction site
The Shilo has always been a good compromise between budget and comfort. Rooms a good size and good beds.
It is currently a building site. It was closing just after I was there. When the work is done it will be great, but...
Didn't say it was under construction and was over priced for the conditions.
On going renovation.
Across the street from my business event.
Very run down and going through remodeling. Had to cart my own luggage in.price was very high forthe inconvenience.
Was not made aware the hotel was undergoing major renovation when I made my reservation...early morning noise from construction.
Location was great! Was within walking distance of many sights & shopping.
Was under construction which created noise & dust.”
Location for me is excellent. Normally, and except for some very dodgy elevators, it is a great hotel to stay in.
The hotel was in rough shape during major renovations prior to new ownership. Doors were blocked and elevators unavailable. They should not have even been open considering the scope of their renovations or, at the least, should have compensated their guests for the inconveniences.
We arrived on the weekend and noted the hotel was obviously under construction. However, the crew wasn't working until Monday. Our room was clean and very comfortable. I asked for a room with a view and was very pleased. The only complaint is regarding the young Caucasian female working the front desk. She all but ignored my son and I when we arrived. It was so obvious that the man working on the far side of her ask if I was being helped. When I replied no, she growled an order indicating he should assist me. In all my travels, I've never encountered anyone in guest services so rude. The gentleman was her polar opposite. He was what you'd expect and more.
The Caucasian female at the front desk was obviously rude and ignored our arrival. She made eye contact but didn't acknowledge us. Then grumbled an order to the competent gentleman working with her. We were the only guests waiting for assistance at the time...late evening on Saturday Sept 6th. No one was even in the lobby at the time.
The movies for the tv didn't work, I asked for help and they put me in a different room and the movies still didn't work and I didn't know they were doing renovation until I arrived . The hot tub and pool at the bottom was dirty and in poor condition
The location was perfect.
Construction going on the whole time. First room they put us in only had one bed for four people and the phone didn't even work to call the office. There were clear signs saying guests were not allowed on certain floors due to construction, yet they filled those rooms anyway. The elevators were in use frequently by construction crews and we sometimes had to wait 30 minutes to even get on one. I chose Shiloh because I stayed there as a kid and have good memories but they shouldn't have been charging the same as the other hotels in the area or at least told is we would have to deal with construction.
Good location in town
Had I known the hotel was renovating before I booked I would have chosen a different hotel. Work on the building on every other floor means there is likely no room that was not bothered at 7am. Also the breakfast was inconvenient; having to be waited on when I only needed a coffee and cereal or toast was a hassle. My room was hot as well because the air did not work properly.
Very close to the Salt Palace Convention Center and the Gateway Refrigerator and microwave were nice to have in the room. With two exceptions, the staff were very nice and helpful.
Inadequate parking. Breakfast consisted of a voucher for the restaurant where you had two choices which could not be mixed. I have special dietary needs, so it meant I really couldn't get what I needed for breakfast. I was reminded that tip wasn't included by the waiter which was tacky. Lots of construction. Some of the amenities in the room were not working. I was there three days, and two nights and never could get a good wi fi connection either on my phone or computer. They said they'd let the technician know but it was never fixed.
The hotel is in restoration, and that's needed! Poor service, no working wifi.... Complained about it and the staff lied and gave me different answers every time, on top off that I find out that they double charged my card!
It was so close to the convention centre. had a free breakfast
under construction. elevators didn't work well, huge waits, mediocre rooms, mediocre food,
the pool and the breakfast.
the pillows were too big, but no problem we brought our own.
The staff was friendly and the location is extremely close to the Salt Palace.
The closure of the stairs and all the elevators except one made getting to my room extremely difficult. The hotel was full so the time was extended. The construction made the comfort level low based on that there were construction workers right outside my room. I would have expected a price break for the hotel based on all of the extra inconvenience the construction created.
The trash wasn't gathered for previous people. Also the room look disturbed. Not slept in but somehow occupied
The front desk staff was so courteous and helpful. They gave me a map and took the time to map out the shortest route to where I would need to walk. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in downtown Salt Lake City
Close to the convention center
Did not get a King size bed like requested when making reservation, Room was falling apart, and our car was broken into while in their parking garage, we had to drive home without a window, and Shilo Inn only reimbursed us $30 Very un happy
Larger clean room. Comfortable place.
Staff efficiency, decor, breakfast
It said they had minimal parking when in fact they had no parking at all within a couple block radius in the middle of downtown Salt Lake, how inconvenient, especially with young children late at night.
Everything!!! EXCEPT: there's NO parking
They asked to park on the street and feed a meter, or pay to park in a pay lot across the street out of my pocket. There parking is for about 50 to 70 cars and they have 2 to 3 hunderd rooms
Yesterday morning I had to be in the hospital by 5:30 a.m. and when I was talking about that with the front desk, your agent had me show my papers and then gave me a wonderful discount. We realy appreciated that kindness and will not soon foget it. Dallas Brent Clement Meridian, Idaho
Missing breakfast because I had to begin the day fasting. My wife, however, said the meals was also wonderful.
