Excellent location. Less than 5 minutes to Union Square where you can pick up the tour buses. 10 minutes walk to Chinatown. There was a cable car stop outside the hotel which was 20 to 25 minutes to Fisherman's Wharf. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are lots of cafes located close to the hotel if you chose not to have breakfast at the hotel. There is a Starlight bar on the 21 floor which has free entrance for guest staying at the hotel. Good music and views of the city. Spacious and nicely decorated rooms, good working air con and free WiFi. I would stay at this hotel again if ever in San Francisco. Very expensive parking fees if you need to take a car with you.

Beautiful building and interior; Starlight Room is wonderful. Space as booked for three adults was not provided; extra bed for 3rd adult ultimately did not exist. An additional small room was provided, but this defeated our intention of all staying together. The resolution, such as it was, came very late (after midnight). Explantion and expressions of dissatisfaction to staff brought nothing more than weak apologies.

Nice atmosphere. The room key would stop working after 1 day and we kept having to go down to the front desk to have it reprogrammed. This happened every other day. Also, the cleaning service would not leave a new roll of toilet- paper even when the one on the roll was almost out. We were embarrassed when we had to call Guest Services to bring us a roll of toilet-paper in the middle of the night.

Eddie on the front door was amazing and very helpful at all times! The lifts were slow and sometimes the entry was very busy, so opted not to sit at the bar as it was too noisy.

The location of the Sir Francis Drake is unbeatable, with a cable car stop literally outside the door, and Union Square just down the hill less than half a block away. Also there is a starbucks next door and Walgrens across the road. The decor in the rooms is luxe and our bed was huge and very comfortable. Loved the free wi fi for guests. We thought the bathroom was tiny - we could only be in there one at a time and could have sat on the loo and brushed our teeth in the basin at the same time! There was no kettle or any facilities for making a hot drink, nor a fridge for keeping anything cold.

Nice central location, close to restaurants, shopping and attractions. Bathroom is quite small, it was hard to gracefully get in and out of the shower. When we booked we got a very good rate. When it was time to check out the bill was significantly larger than our booking rate. Fortunately, I had the confirmation and the staff at the desk adjusted the bill immediately.

The room was charming and the breakfast was delicious! We ordered room service. There could have been better direction from the front door man mascot. We were unclear about how to get our luggage to the room.

The design of the hotel was very unique and the thematic aesthetics were very impressive. The shampoo and body wash were very good. The management style was also very innovative. The elevators were very slow. Maybe it will be great to have feastures or assistance to engage in some physical exercises like jogging, cross-training and weight lifting.

Grand lobby, great location, friendly service, comfortable room Room had a strong chemical-cleaning-fluid smell. Pictures on the wall were very creepy. I hate paying for wi fi access, especially when I am paying a premium to stay in the hotel.

The staff was wonderful. I loved the fact that we could leave our car in their private parking area until 4:00 p.m., even though checkout time noon. They kept our bags until 4:00 p.m. as well. The location is perfect for visitors and tourists. The cable car let us off right in front of the hotel! The price was a little steep for a grandma trying to show her granddaughters a good time. It is not a hotel that most people could afford for special occasions. It worked for my budget, but I imagine most people could not afford the room price.

Great hotel, great service, great location. Elegant rooms and family-friendly too. I'll book here again. Wi-fi was only free in the hotel common areas (lobby, bar), not throughout the entire hotel as advertised on the site. Not a big deal though.

There's simply no better location to be located while in San Francisco. Shops, restaurants and the famous Cable Car are literally at your door step. Scala is an italian restaurant attached to the Hotel which is very good although a bit pricy. And the Concierge (Leif and Anne) will do everything they can to help you go where you want or even get a table at a rastaurant. I've never seen that in today's World. I don't want to be unfair but the size of the room for four people was a bit too small eventhough our daughters (15 and 13 yrs) claim they are very tidy...

Excellent hotel, it's location was insane, you could virtually go anywhere from there. Excellent neighborhood. You can ride the trolley in the entrance. Nice rooms. Nice restaurant. It has the Starlight room at the last floor. It has union square (macys, the tree, the ice skating rink) at the left of the corner. Starbucks next to it. Nice beds. Nice Staff. I would recommend it 100%. Excellent price ( same as most hotels without these features) The only thing that I can say about it is that I stayed in a double room and it was kind of small for four people.

The location is excellent, right on the union square and close to all the main attractions of sf. Amazing place. The room was extremely small... I mean tiny. 50 bucks for car parking? Are they kidding me? I will recommend it to someone travelling alone on business without a car!!

Great location, fine staff, nice room, older hotel with charm Toilet flapper became disconnected from chain and was not fixed at night though front desk promised. (Toilet still usable but a pain). Got it fixed next day.
