Location and view over Manhattan. 5 minutes walk to either Newport or Hoboken path stations. A huge grocery store only One minute walk from away.
Wow, what a find! As soon as we opened the door to our 2 bed, 2 bath, partial view there was a whoop of delight from my friends. The apartment was large, bright, modern, clean and nicely presented with an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline. There was a well equipped kitchen although we did have a little trouble using the cork screw...not to worry though, David the Concierge was happy to help us remove the cork and show us the 'technique' for further bottles...what a star! We headed straight up to the excellent roof terrace to catch a most wonderful sunset. This for me was one of the best moments of our visit. There's everything you would need here, from a short to long stay...from washing machine to iron and ironing board to hairdryer, dishwasher and the most asked for of all...good Wifi. We were sadly only there 3 nights so did not make use of everything provided. We had arranged with Marie at Sky City customer service, via email, to leave our luggage for storage on the last day at the local office. When we mentioned to David Garcia he said it would be fine to leave them at the apartments. Marie explained that Sky City don't tell you that you can do this due to them not owning the building but do ask or 'mention' it to the concierge when you arrive if you need that service. David arranged a new taxi to the airport for us and also contacted Marie, who had pre- booked one for us from the local office, to let her know to cancel. It is stressed that they are not an hotel but we had a great service from all concerned. I was a little concerned about booking accommodation outside of NY because my friends where worried about the walk and commute to the city being safe but we had no reason to be worried. The whole area of Newport has undergone renovation and it is a clean, safe, peaceful and pleasant place to walk around. The PATH train was easy to use and mostly painless but it does get pretty packed as you might expect.
Our taxi driver found the address hard to find due to it being fairly new post code. I had researched the area and had an idea of the area of where to direct him to but I would advise (as Sky City do on their website) to take a print out map to show them. The apartments are called Laguna, this is a residential building and Sky City only own/rent apartments within it. the name Sky City does not appear on the outer of the building. Also be aware of ferry timetables as none are running from the nearby Newport terminal anymore and the weekend service to World Trade Centre is not operational from Hoboken at the moment. It was a half hour walk to Paulus Hook which we enjoyed but that might not suitable for everyone.
This apartment was large, spacious and ideal for 3 people. We had a Manhattan view and it was superb. It is very handy for the PATH train to central NY and only a 5 minute walk away. The area is safe, clean and convenient for everything.
Parking was a bit of a problem as meters only allow a 2 hour wait and garages are expensive.
Loved everything about the apt. We had the 3 BR and it was great. Use the Hoboken Path station, it is closer than others, just about a two block walk along the Hudson River path. . The apt. is awesome, the building fantastic and the amenities are all great.
The only thing I would suggest is that it would be nice to have a TV in each bedroom, there was one in the LR and one in the master, but not the other two Bedrooms. The beds were not the most comfortable but they were not bad.
Views - we were in the 2 bed with "partial" views which turned out to be amazing unobstructed panoramic view over the Hudson to from all windows, but only see half of Manhattan island ! Very quiet relaxed safe area, no noise at all from other apartments. It really does look like the pictures online, and if anything is even more spacious than they appear. Everything listed present and correct as described. PATH train to New York is fast efficient clean and runs frequently all night.
Nothing. Will be my first choice next time in NY
appartment Local area and amenities
New Jersey taxis
AC did not work properly with noice and to hot in the night.
location is excellent
amazing view great apartment
Breathtaking the apartment was clean and specious ,, david at the lobby was so helpful and kind he always smile and open the door for us he is amazing thanks david for helping us in whole our stay
we can't sleep when the sunrise because all the light become inside the room.:)
It was an excellent choice for our family. We originally wanted to stay in Manhattan, but found this option and decided to try it. There was adequate space to accommodate everyone (4 adults and 1 child), the location was within walking distance of the PATH train, and the view of Manhattan from the apartment was perfect.
It is not a hotel, so there is no concierge desk. If it's your first time visiting, you may have to ask your questions elsewhere. Although, the front desk staff was very friendly.
perfect location, directly on Hudson with view to Manhattan skyline; use of roof top is a must! Supermarket very close, to PATH Train only 8 min walk.
1.Incredible area 2.Clean & quiet surrounding 3.Beautiful Manhattan skyline 4.Spacious aprtment for 3 couples. 5.Extremely Fast & dedicated internet connection. It was 25 Mbps. 6. Great lounge on top terrace. 7.There is an area where we can sit right in the front of the Building. This overlooks the river and Manhattan Skyline. 8.Great connectivity by PATH (2 stops. & Ferry drop point next to the building.
1.No parking,we came from Greenville travelling 760 miles to reach New jersey and had to go search for parking late in the night. It was the worst experience. This was not told by facility staff.Extremely disappointing in terms of inconvenience and lack of concern from the staff. 2.Just one soap was provided for three families. 3.No Salt or Pepper was provided
Clean, safe area and only 5 mins walk from Hoboken Path train station providing easy access into Manhattan. Hoboken has a wide selection of cafes and restaurants and is a welcome break from the heat and crowds in Manhattan.
Great view of entire Manhattan skyline from huge windows. Easy walk to PATH train station through a modern, safe neighborhood. Stores nearby for groceries and other necessities. Easy walk into Hoboken, lots of restaurants, etc. if you don't feel like going into the city.
Its expensive but what isn't in NYC?
I love it
We had apartment 511 which is the one in the pictures . Exactly as seen , great unobstucted view of Manhattan. 10 mins walk from Path station and another 10 mins travel time to Manhattan. Fantastic area with handy shops which meant you could dine in or go out . Absolutely worth getting the Path/subway into Manhattan as so cheap only $2.50 per journey .Felt completely safe . Apartment had everything you could need for a short or long term stay . We were a party of six and did not feel crowded at all . If you want a car service ask the concierge and they can arrange a big SUV for good value .
The local shops were a bit on the pricey side due to the affluence of the area . The concierge could be helpful at times and unhelpful at others. However as they don't work for Sky City this was made clear prior to arrival .
Superb spacious apartment, very well equipped with amazing views of Manhattan from the apartment (even better views from easily accessible penthouse roof). A very convenient and safe location, short walk to Hoboken PATH station with quick connections to Midtown. Provided a very pleasant location to return to after day sight-seeing in typical chaotic NYC - absolutely lovely to retreat to the apartment and watch Manhattan island turn light up at night from across the Hudson. The area around the apartment is relatively new build (very clean and safe) with many families & professionals living in the area - overall a decent choice of restaurants next to the apartment.
Until we arrived we hadn't realised just how close our apartment was to the Hudson river bank and an unobstructed view of the New York skyline. Wow! We all agreed we would never get sick of that view. It was a luxury apartment in a beautiful immediate area, Newport, with easy access to the PATH train into the heart of New York. Nearby Hoboken was also an added bonus for dining out with its array of eateries.
The air conditioning was relatively noisy.
Spacious clean apartment with a fantastic view of Manhatten. It was very convenient to get to Manhatten using the PATH system. Customer service was excellent.
