Location, location, location! The hotel was just blocks away from Independence Historic Park and in the center of the Historic District! Plenty of restaurants and nightlife within walking distance. The room was clean and we felt safe during our stay. We stayed right on the second floor, and the street noises were a bit much, but nothing a little music/ear plugs couldn't fix.

It was very clean, the staff friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, right in Old City, amongst the historic wonders of Philadelphia. Great spot especially for the cost. It's an old building so the rooms are very small, but were functional for my needs.

- Society Hill is in a great location. Also, the room I stayed in was clean and comfortable. - The staff could be friendlier. Also, for what I got (a very basic room), the price was a bit high. It really isn't worth $100 a night.

privacy, cleanliness, inconvenience of limited checkin time 3pm-6pm (I arrived after 6pm without a local line to call for someone to let me in, i had to beg a member of the public to use their phone), lack of hangers in the room, toiletries not replenished,

Location and price are great. The place is in an old building and so the rooms are small and you don't have Hyatt style amenities, but it's a great place if you don't need that. I think it would be perfect for a couple, and even two friends could share the room fairly well. Nice bar downstairs.

This hotel is a basic as they come, it's ideal as a base, but has no facilities. It doesn't pretend to be anything it isn'T. People in previous reviews complaining about cleanliness are mistaken, it's old, not dirty. It's location is ideal for old town but a bit of a trek to the newer areas of the city

New sheets on bed. Bed was ok. Extremely noisy, inside room very hot, outside in hall it was cold. All night long noise from pedestrians and traffic. Street light shone directly into room and curtains did little good. Dirty dust under desk and chairs. Sarah the hotel clerk promised she would personally insure our comfort. Then she disappeared and no one would answer the telephone. We were supposed to receive a free continental breakfast. By 9:30 A.M. we had nothing and we left. This was one of our worst hotel experiences ever. We only got about 2 hours sleep. By the time the night was over, we hated philadelphia!! This was our first experience with Philadelphia and we felt very lied to and deceived. Although we had paid for 2 nights, we only stayed one. We checked into the Society Hill Sheratin and for $137 we had a lovely, clean and comfortable room and a good night's sleep. We are talking to the Chamber of Commerce in Philadelphia. No one should have to suffer what we did!!!

Location was excellent. The room was as its picture. And it was clean. The room was really cold although the weather was nice. It was noisy because of the bar which was under the hotel.

Sheets and bathroom seemed clean. Located in the historic district. Street noise kept me awake until 3am - room 205 - corner room one floor above the intersection. Even though I had emailed and left voice mail message, when I did arrive "late" to check in (7:30pm) there was a note on door with a number to call - but I had no phone!! Passer- by helped me out - phone no. Turned out to be cell of another guest staying who gave me access. Good thing it was not raining or snowing while I waited on the street to get in. Window blinds were filthy. Shower did not drain properly. No towel bars or water glasses. Definitely not for the uninitiated traveller.
