Location was great, staff fabulous, very modern rooms
Hotel in remolding process, small bathroom ( shower)
The location is great, near everything we need for our first stay in New York City. Staff are very helpful and easy to talk to. The family bedroom is the best in comfort in making our stay very memorable.
Excellent staff.close proximity to good restaurants.
We had only two days in NY with the family of five and this hotel really provided a good mix of location, price and personal interior. Good to get a single room for 5 people. The location in lower Manhattan between Little Italy and Chinatown, close to several subways was very convenient for exploring NYC. Staff friendly and gave good advice. Interior decor made this hotel to really stay stand out from the average hotel chains.
The door to our room was a bit difficult to close and open, but taht was manageable.
Loved loved loved the location, a stones throw away from the uber cool cafes and bars of soho. The hotel itself has a lovely relaxing feel about it, with open brick and mood lighting. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful bellman. The beds were very comfortable.
Unfortunately the noise and shower let it down for us. Our room was internal (away from the roads) we were thinking, great, no traffic! But instead we had people using (all night!) the main stair case inside the hotel (not carpeted, just open concrete stairs) In heels, it was loud! With laughter and chat thrown in on top, it wasn't ideal. We had a cold running shower both nights. In the end we used our friends shower. She was in an external room (street view) which was newly renovated, and had a hot power shower. No phones in the rooms to call down if you needed any assistance. And nowhere to hang your clothes/coats. A hook on the back of the door would have been ideal.
very noise, couldn't sleep well.
Nice atmosphere, very nice staff that gave excellent service. Very nice budget hotel, clean and perfect situated.
Heating was very efficient, and not possible to adjust so the room was a bit too warm (December) and it came a bit of noise from the radiator.
Great spot for exploring Nolita, Chinatown, Little Italy, Soho and the LES...cozy vibe with friendly staff. Get out of your (small small small) room and walk the 'hood!
Bathrooms too small and lighting poorly designed ; TVs were old - but ignore that and value of the room is solid
Location, value, comfort and cozy size.
Noise level from corridor transferring through the door; being able to hear TV from next room. Coffee/tea offerings could be improved (and offered 24 hrs); replace styrofoam cups w/paper cups
For the reasons listed above and because it is in a convenient location, I'd stay at Sohotel again. Good size room, super comfy bed and sheets. I liked it.
The location, staff was professional and helpful, decor was modern and tasteful, free coffee and tea in the lobby was great (cold wet weekend!), high ceilings, free water in the rooms.
The only thing preventing me from giving this hotel an "excellent" in everything was the noise at night. Granted, it was a Saturday night during holiday season, but the bar downstairs played music until at least 4 am and our room must have been directly above it because it kept us up for a long time and then woke us up in the early morning. Soundproofing is a must on this level (200 floor)!!
From the moment I walked into the hotel and heard jazz playing on the sound system and admired the retro furniture, I knew I was going to love this hotel. It's in a great location for dining out. The staff were beyond friendly and efficient. The friend who recommended Sohotel makes it his NYC home several times a year, and I am going to do the same.
The hotel does not provide dry cleaning services, so this adds a bit to the stress of business travel.
Spacious rooms (for nyc!) polite and helpful staff. Good location. Modern decor.
No lift although it didn't bother us, it may be an issue for some guests. No phone in room, again not an issue. Although no tea and coffee making facilities.. These are in reception area which is only available at certain times.
The bed was very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. I ate a nice meal in the restaurant.
My bed and bedroom smelled like sweaty heads and it was noisy. Both people outside my door and the radiators. It was very very hot in my room so Zi turned on my aircon which turned out to be quite the loudest I'd ever heard. I didn't sleep despite my very cosy bed.
The location is excellent. NY through the downtown perspective. Loved it.
There was one grouchy receptionist bit all others were fab! Coffee not great, breakfast would be amazing as it's pricey to have to go and look for it outside.
Friendly staff, great location in the centre of Soho, walking distance to many hot spots and subway and bike rental. We had a renovated room with a great bathroom (small though) and good shower.
Our room was very tiny, the 140 centimeter bed covered the entire room and there was hardly any space for luggage or walking. I went with one friend whom I'm close with but otherwise the room would have been too small and the bed too small. For now it was all fine.
Impressed with: a) the polite and attentive staff- the escort to our room included an explanation of amenities and detailed info during the escorted walk, b) bathroom was clean, included a hairdryer, toothpaste , shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, lotion & shower gel, c) green wall-painted room with a large flat-screen tv including cable, d) a NYC dining & attractions booklet was included e) the bed was heavily layered with soft linens- a comfortable sleep indeed f) tea & coffee at the reception area was freely offered g) the decor was beautiful in the lobby h) the heat was funcional Lastly, There was a holiday sale for Thanksgiving that was a good deal.
Only area of improvement: they need to answer their phone ( 800 & 212 numbers). I'd called muliple times to confirm my reservation prior to arriving, as I'd book through a booking site, & was disappointed that no on had ever answered. Nor was there an option to leave a voicemail.
Staff was very nice and helpful. Lobby and reception had character if a bit worn. Loved the location for Soho, little Italy and Chinatown all right near us.
Rooms were small and decor was lacking, a little too cheaply colorful. Furniture older, bed not my preference for comfort. Bathroom was fine, cute and nice, but a little more water pressure in shower would've been great.
Great for groups Great for children Felt safe whilst we were there Good free wifi
The stay was very pleasent overall, the location is perfect, very near to Soho and the staff very friendly
the room is really small for 2 people
Extremely small rooms, Extremely noisy, No elevator.
Friendly employees in particular the personal help at the entrance door
Not much water pressure in the shower
I was very appreciative of the history of the hotel, but like the modem updates.
Unfortunately they were still upgrading the hotel, so early construction was a bit annoying.
Friendly, courteous, helpful staff with one exception. Location in a real New a York neighborhood. Did not feel touristy. Decor is amazing
Room was very hot. We were not able to regulate the heat. Too noisy to one windows
