Very nice about storing our bikes in the luggage storage area. We were really excited about using the car service from the Sohotel to JFK, and the receptionist told us the $55 covered tax and tip all inclusive. We should have read the fine print; when we got there the driver told us the tip wasn't included so my husband tipped him $10, and then when we looked at the credit card receipt, the driver charged us $65 - so the trip ended up costing us $75 instead of $55. When we called the receptionist back she told us $55 is for cash and $65 for credit card, which was annoying because we had cash. She said they would try to get the $10 tip back from the driver, but we'll believe it when we see it. Too bad, it really left a bad taste in our mouths after a very nice stay. Hope this saves someone else from dealing with unscrupulous limo drivers.

The location was great Well besides the fact that the room & the bath room were super tiny, there was no phone in the room, no safe, the doors and the window were so thin that you could here a fly fart. Additionally to that, there wasn't any elevator and the shower only had warm water for one person. The hair dryer only worked for 5min then had to wait another 5min again till it worked again.

Very good service and friendly staff. Excellent location near two different metro lines in a charming neighbourhood. Rooms with open brick wall features quiet small but cosy and very clean. During cold days the heater might not be sufficient.

The location was excellent and price was great for our needs. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Coffee/tea provided in the A.M. Old building--no elevator--so walking up 4 flights can be a chore after a day of exploring nyc. Rooms were small and more space for storing bath items could be accomplished by adding a shelf above the toilet. We ran out of hot water 2 times in our 11 day stay. The hairdryer malfunctioned twice, but the staff provided one upon request. No phones in the room. Get your own taxi--If front desk asks to get a taxi for you, say, "No"-- they will call a town-car/limo and the charge will be $45.00 to La Guardia-- get your own taxi on the street for $25.00 tip included.

Sohotel is very close to the Lower East Side, Soho, Nolita, Chinatown, Little Italy. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and had a lot of local knowledge. The room was very clean and well kept. The furnishings were a little too big for the room.

Sohotel is a comfortable and reasonably priced hotel in a great location if you want to stay in the SoHo area. The staff were friendly and helpful. The foyer area is very nice, with comfortable chairs. The tea and coffee making facilities in the foyer were only available at certain times. Because the rooms themselves do not have any facilities for making tea or coffee, it would be good if the ones in the foyer were available 24 hours. WiFi access in the foyer area was often quite slow.

Location is good. Bathroom had nice marble tiling. I don't mind small rooms at all, but when you have to crawl on the bed to get across the room, it's a little oppressive feeling. Also we asked for a quiet room in our booking notes and they put us in a room right next to a hallway door that kept slamming all night long. So I'm thinking they didn't even read the notes and/or have no sense of the sound the door makes. The slamming woke us up throughout the night. If you happen to want a quiet room, I would call them to request it. Also wo booked a 'Standard Queen Room', but our bed was definitely not a queen. In general this hotel served its purpose, nice location and on the cheaper side. But it has more of a hostel-type feeling as opposed to a hotel, still ok for what it is.

Good value and proximity to great restaurants and neighbourhoods. 4-5 blocks from metro station. Staff is very friendly. Safe. This is a very noisy ambient due to local traffic. Earplugs are a must!!! Worn out furnitre. Ground floor of building, not part of the hotel, was remodeled, and on our last day the entire 1st floor was overcome by some type of an organic solvent odor, a real health problem. The location is better described as Chinatown and Little Italy/Nolita, rather than Soho.

Great location with great staff who were happy to help out with any questions we had. The rooms were basic, a bit small and tight to wheel luggage around but it was all we actually needed. The room looked great, it was a great little space that was presented well. Overall it was a good hotel that did not make any claims it could not fulfil. During the night and early morning there was a lot of noise on the street that made it hard to sleep and there was a bar nearby that played music until 1am every morning. The rooms were quite warm and even though it was the middle of winter we needed to leave the window open for fresh air. The free wi-fi was sketchy and could not always be accessed but was fine once we managed to log in.

Room was too small. Shower temperature was hard to adjust and it was unstable, I.E. don't flush the toilet while you are taking your shower!

Super small room which is to be expected. Also the stairs were rather hard to manage after a long day of walking around the city. The good part is, our bed was soooo comfortable so we had a good rest for the next day of more walking!

Friendly staff... Great location close to a trendy nyc area. Piece of advice: Don´t stay in a room facing Bowery St. Very loud Traffic 24/7. It seems that we´re using a truck as a pillow.

The room was awfully niosy. Despite the windows being closed, loud sound travelled in all night from the street like it was wide open. It really put me off this place!

“The service was wonderful from the moment we walked in the door. Every question was answered with a smile and every request was responded to very promptly! The location is within walking distance of Greenwich Village, China Town, Wall street, Southside Seaport, 9/11 Memorial and the south ferry service. The subway entrance is across the street. There were great restaurants in the area too. We cut our motel bill in half and had a wonderful experience. This is a place I will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay! ” William, Wauwatosa |
