Location, location, location. The shower....the atmosphere and look of the place.....did I mention the location!
Check in was troubling.....bed was NOT a queen as reserved...two people in a room is tight
The decor was great. The room was small but functional and comfortable. The location is perfect with lots I'd attractions and options near by.
There really was nothing not to like.
- Great location - Helpful staff on desk and at door - building full of character
- Extreme water hammer in the plumbing all night. Noise in general along corridors. - Over heated rooms even with radiator off - Rooms of same description vary in quality. The first room we were in had only a small skylight and no way to block the light.
I liked the location. Out of the hustle but still lots of taxi's!! Close to Little Italy so lots of good food around.
NO cancellation policy so make sure when booking!!
Good location, well placed for subway links and plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants in Chinatown/Little Italy
Tiny room, basic facilities, somewhat dingy, expensive even by NY standards
Style is nice, the bar and the restaurant are cool and very good
Noise during the nights
-proximity to several metro lines -proximity to SOHO and shopping strip -Hotel surrounded by great restaurants, pubs and coffee shop -Chinatown and little Italy give a unique flavour to the area -complimentary tea and coffee in the foyer
-noisy room. My room was on Bowery street and without double glazing it was not uncommon to be waken up at night by the traffic
bathroom, a small breakfast would also help
Location!!! Great service for a very decent price.
Noisey room during the night! very old heating system which made a lot of noise during the night.
Everything was just what I had hoped for. The staff - from the moment we entered the hotel to the day we checked out- was very professional and friendly. The room was perfectly clean- bedding, bathroom, linens- and very comfortable. The free wifi was an excellent perc. We we only there 18 hours it was a perfect accommodation.
NEARLY EVERYTHING! EXCELLENT STAFF, CLEAN ROOM, COMFORTABLE BED, EASY TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENTS IN THE ROOM, AND THE SUPER CENTRAL LOCATION. THE FIRST HOTEL I EVER USED IN MANHATTAN AND WAS SO HAPPY WITH THE CHOICE.
MY HAIR DRYER DIDN'T WORK. THAT. IS. IT.
the staff was very helpful and gave me great help at all times. The service oriented team makes a huge difference for my stay. Very pleasant and helpful people.
no lift in the facility. lot of dust in the room when we arrived. unusual way of operating the shower.
For the cost of the hotel and its storied history, the condition of the room, with peeling and scraped paint, and mildew on the shower wall was not acceptable.
Location was really great. Was visiting my kids who live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and it was real close. Also great for shopping, eating which is all we do in NY. Staff was very pleasant and helpful
Couldn't take a shower in the morning because there was no hot water. The room was tiny. All there was was a bed. If you were in the room, then you were in bed. No elevator which could be a big problem for older folks with joint issues. Couldn't adjust temp in room since there was no thermostat. Very old and inferior infrastructure. The bathroom looked like it was put together by someone who had never done anything like this before; everything was crooked and almost falling off.
The staff was amazing!
The rates were a bit expensive.
Location was excellent, I was there on business and truly only needed a place to sleep.
Walls were thin, I could here people in the next room so clearly it was as if they were in my room. Nothing my earplugs couldn't fix, so it was fine. I'd definitely stay again
The location was excellent with lots of great bars, restaurants, and shopping in the neighborhood. The staff was nice and helpful, and the buildout of the hotel was very nice.
The room we stayed in was TINY. I've stayed in New York before and expected a small room, but you could barely move around the bed which was a full rather than a queen. Also the hallway smelled like cigarettes despite the hotel being "non-smoking"
Affordable, well designed, no frills hotel in a great location!!!
Perfect location, nice and clean and friendly staff
We had to move room twice because of the non-functional heating system in the old building. In the first two rooms we slept in the heater could not be turned off. We had to sleep in sauna-like heat and the heater was making so loud noises that we simply did not sleep for three nights. Considering the price we paid, that was simple not acceptable. However, the hotel refuses to give any compensation!
friendliness of staff, location, look and feel of entrance / reception.
the room was very warm and the radiator made a loud clunking sound which was a bit annoying / also the walls seemed very thin with the bed head probably not designed very well when it came to an amorous couple in the room next door - even our lamp shades rattled...maybe noone has mentioned this before? It would have been great to have had access to a cup of tea in the wee hours of the morning but everything was tidied away - and lastly we didn't realise there was a bar and restaurant behind the stairs - perhaps a sign pointing guests in the right direction might have been helpful. Thanks
The staff and receptionists are very kind and fast. The hotel is very clean. I will definitely prefer sohotel for my next NY trip.
The rooms are too small
The room was so nice and so was the bathroom. The hotel was very unique!
So of the staff were a little stuffy.
Obviously the location. Staff were friendly and room super clean. Quiet room as requested and enjoyed a great meal in the hotel restaurant. Found my favourite NYC cafe Oro down the road and found the history of the Bowery interesting. Would recommend the hotel.
Not doing the conversion into NZ dollars prior to payment, meant the cost of 2 nights was a bit of a shock. But NYC is an expensive city to stay in so it didn't affect our experience which was fantastic.
The decor of this hotel is amazing very industrial chic, very simple but very cute and comfortabe and clean!
Free coffee very good for jetlagged visitors. Cool interiour. Relaxed staff, friendly.
Familyroom extremely small. Not enough space to store luggage and hang clothes.
