the overall location was fine except it's next door to a construction site that is REALLY LOUD and they start work at 7 am. If you get a room #01 to 14 on any of the 10-floors be ready get a 7 am wake up call every morning. Rooms were clean.
20-minutes to check in then the woman that checked us in gave us rooms 908 & 906. We checked in late and everything was fine. The at 7 am the NOISE started and didn't stop all day. BANG, BANG, BANG at 7 am. If they would have warned us we would have stayed somewhere else or asked to get rooms on the other side of the hotel but we weren't given that option. When we checked out the front desk guy apologized and said he'd knock off $41 parking (yep, that's right $41 per night to valet plus a tip for the guys that take too long to get the car). The funny thing is they charged me $82 for parking for both rooms and I had one car??? I didn't even argue at that point and had had enough of the Solamar. I will never stay there again or another Kimpton hotel as if it's OK to deceive their customers then I want nothing to do with that chain.
We were running late.... They parked our car... They too our bags up to our room..while we slipped away to the ballgame..
The bed was very hard, the pillows were awful, and there was a lot of noise at 7am, due to the building of next door! Didn't sleep at all!
My reservation was cancelled on the day I would have arrived at the hotel! The excuse of the hotel was there was a glitch in the system. They revered me to the booking.com and that was it! No e-mail and no excuse!!
Great coffee in the morning, well located to bAll park, staff friendly and helpful
No breakfast (even something light) in the morning made available.
The jacuzzi tub in the room, the prompt room service, the in room bar and refrigerator access.
The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the valet fee was a little on the expensive side.
The location is great, free coffee at certain time in the morning and social hour in the evening with free drinks.
One day our room wasn't cleaned as we stayed in a little later.
Staff was very helpful
Parking a bit pricey but expected. The turn into casket was tight especially when other vehicles were also waiting. Valet staff did do their best.
Location Staff Pet friendly program Daily Complimentary wine for about an hour or so in the evenings
It was stunning to have to pay $41.00 a night for parking. That should at least be indicated when booking on line. I was also surprised that you are still charging for internet access. None of the hotels I've stayed in in the past year are doing that anymore.
$40 parking fee
Clean and good location.
Beds were very uncomfortable
Rooms were very nice. Had all we needed for our stay. Friendly, helpful staff. Liked the water in the lobby.
Coffee/Tea service was very basic. A few small pastries, some small fruit would have been nice.
Great location and friendly staff. The daily happy hour was a nice perk.
Parking is extremely expensive at the hotel, there are so many other less expensive options nearby.
That I got a partial refund because they couldn't take care of the dogs that were barking 24/7 next to my door
$41 parking a night! No Free Internet as advertised The pool is cold even though they say its warm, the sun was shining, i even got tanned, but the water was freezing cold Pool closes at 9PM Breakfast not included scary state sign next to the bar warning from chemicals in their food that cause cancer pool is only 3'6" shallow Room next door had 2 dogs barking 24/7, asked staff to take care of it, no change, couldn't sleep
Nice rooms Friedli straff free Bikes... Top San Diego Location
Rooftop pool and bar was delightful after sunset.
Street signage not visible. Could not find hotel's name in slow drive-by, had to go around the block. Existing sign is hidden by trees.
Great hotel in the Gaslamp District - nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff and top location.
Location, clean, coffee available in the morning and food on premise.
Rather expensive and not even free internet. The internet cable did not work at all, and some parts of the room and bathroom looked shaky. No coffee machine.
Location. Lovely rooms.
I like the feel and rooms. Most the staff was great
Two staff members sucked. The hotel was also under construction and that wasn't disclosed
