Stayed for two nights. The service was excellent, and the happy hour was worthwhile, free beer and nibbles is always great. The service is great. We enjoyed the breakfasts, the kids loved the waffle maker. The location is very handy and there are loads of restaurants and bars handy. There is a supermarket and drug store within 5 mins walk. The room and beds were comfy and there was lots of room. The kids loved the pool and we had a barbecue one night. Recommended.
Paying $10 for parking in their own carpark was a bit rough, but that's a minor quibble.
The very generous size of the rooms The comfortable beds The location to resturants
The view of the hospital
Price, location, staff, room size, balcony, everyone was so nice!
The staff was very friendly and helpful we appreciated that the parking was easy. The location is great, there are many really great places within walking distance to eat
The sewer smells coming out of the sink were disgusting and the bed was very uncomfortable. Road noise was mitigated by the wall-through ac unit.
An ideal location for visiting sea world and San Diego zoo. Staff are very friendly especially front desk and breakfast room staff.
Floor can be noisy if you have active kids running around. Providing a food processor or blender would be a good idea also.
Closeness to downtown Excellent choice of restaurants close by Proximity to attractions such as the zoo
Being charged extra to park our car Breakfast a bit limited if you are staying thee for a week as we did A bit overpriced for what it was, but in line with the generally high prices for hotels in San Diego, and other US major cities
big room, very nice personal, getting everywhere pretty fast (by car), breakfast was okay too!
paying extra for the parking, safe is not to big and you need to get the lock at the reception
The staff from check-in to check-out were great.
Needs updating, louder during night as it is next to busy street. Loud air con
Great house keeping service, very friendly
Having to pay $10 per night for parking
1) Customer service (excellent) - great staff! Accommodating, quick responses (door was not working), caring responses 2) Quick responses 3) Perfect location 4) Inexpensive parking 5) Rooms overlooking the pool better than previous assigned room
1) Soft bed (sign of needing a new mattress 2) Towels look dirty/dingy/sign of needing new towels/wash clothes 3) Cabinet won't close - broken 4) First room we were assigned to smelled like urine/terrible view
We can't think of anything to complain about during our 5 day stay at the Somerset Suites. The staff was super-friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The room, and amenities were great. Excess noise was non-existent, or minimal at best. The air-conditioning worked good. The kitchenette was handy; TV was excellent; parking for our car was easy and convienient. The morning coffee and breakfasts served downstairs were superb and delicious - a real plus for a vacationer. Everything was clean and tidy. The Inn's location was also very handy to the main traffic arteries, for easy access and egress to all the tourist hot-spots, eateries, and convienience stores. All in all, we felt very comfortable at the Somerset, and will definitely stay there again. 5-stars out of 5-stars!!!!!
The room was really big and very clean.
The air conditioning in the room didn't work. It wasn't hot during my stay, but it would've been a concern otherwise.
the noise from the street
The staff was SUPER NICE and always helpful. We lost our plane and had to come back. The hotel was fully booked, but the front desk lady assisted us in finding a nearby hotel that met our requirements.
Nothing. All great!
great neighborhood-very nice staff
What a pleasant surprise in the heart of Hillcrest. Despite the hospital being across the street with street noise and ambulances, we slept well. The staff was exceptionally pleasant and professional. The facilities were clean and very comfortable. I loved that there were many fun and interesting places to experience within easy walking distance. I never had to use my car. If you want a San Diego city experience with the ease of visiting the zoo, Balboa Park, and many beaches - this is a great, economical place to stay.
Can't think of anything.
We liked the fact that it was close to almost every attraction that we were going to see while staying in San Diego. The Staff were always helpful and said "Hi" every time they saw us. Every where in the hotel was very clean, pool area, hallways, laundry room and our room. The Continental Breakfast Room was great and the ladies there were always smiling. Thanks for a great experience!
The pool was a little chilly sometimes (April) but it was still fun for the kids!
Friendly staff, free WiFi, fine breakfast, no objections against storing a bicycle inside, comfortable bed and air conditioning.
The sound isolation was poor (closing/opening doors to other rooms and ambulances to nearby hospital) could easily be heard during the night.
Noise from the road
Great place ... Will be there again
The parking fee
We liked that the place was so close to everything. - The rooms are big and comfortable to fit a four adults and a toddler. The staff are really nice and always smiling. -They attended to our complain and even gave us a complimentary movie. - the price was awesome cant beat it especially because they served breakfast as well.
We got to our rooms and it looked good until we got ready for bed. The pull out bed was full of crumbs and the sheets from the bedroom had hair on it. The microwave smelled so much like pinesol( or whatever cleaning material they use) ..too strong that we had to air it before use.
This hotel is located near all the nice restaurants, Whole Foods can also be reached by foot in minutes. We were very nice received and got helpful hints about the newest vegan places nearby. A lot of them are in a walking distance. Our room was located at the backside, totally quiete at night even though we slept by open windows. The room was spacy, sleeping room and the rest separated by a door. Kitchen was well equipped. All the main highways can be reached easily. Try it and hopefully you will have the same pleasant experience as we had.
I"ve stayed here several times and like the hotel very much.
I don't quite understand why they charge for unsecured parking.
