Old hotel, creaky floors, thin walls
A very charming hotel with a staff that was super!
they didn't have fox sport 1 i had to go to a bar to watch the station
The quality and care of a very old building is well down. The room was great! The staff were friendly and professional. I enjoyed the lemonade and cherries as a refreshment when we arrived. I thought it was unique to serve a late-night snack with cookies and ice cream. It was delightful. We mismatched our stay at the Sorrento with another activity so we didn't get to enjoy the hotel as it should be enjoyed, regally. Stay more than one night.
Would like to have checked in earlier without feeling that I was rushing the staff to prepare our room. You have to pay extra to park your car in their garage. (You want to.)
The room was comfortable and charming, but the best feature of the hotel is the helpful and accommodating staff. Keep up the good work!
Terrific hotel: service, facilities, atmosphere. Real old world style.
Dinner was no better than adequate. Walkable, but could be closer to downtown area
The Sorrento is an elegant updated old hotel, proud of its history. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The bed was very comfortable, room was adequate size, and it was clean. There were a couple of nice surprises - free ice cream sundaes every night (at 11:00) and a fun singer/drummer/pianist trio on Saturday night.
We stayed in two rooms - the first, on the 6th floor had a noisy fan that blew air from the bathroom to the bedroom and couldn't be operated independently of the light. On Friday night there was a wedding on the 7th floor and the music (particularly the bass line) could be heard. The hotel gladly changed our room to the 5th floor, where there was no noise issue (fan or wedding)
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Sorrento. We enjoy walking when we travel and we found that the sites we wanted to visit were close. The staff was lovely and provided stellar service. The bing cherries as a snack and the ice cream sundae bar in the evenings were a nice treat. We would definitely choose this hotel again. Although there is a huge hill on your return walk from Pike's Market, you will be greeted with a smile and a cold bottle of water. We have wonderful memories of our visit to the Sorrento.
I cannot think of one thing we did not like.
There was a mixup with our room on check-in; management immediately rectified by upgrading our room followed by a personal note of apology delivered and signed by staff. Very impressive. So enjoyed our accommodation (charming touches like wind-up clock on the bedside table); king bed was incredibly comfortable as were the goose down pillows (best sleep of our road trip); room was an oasis of quiet. Was a shame we booked it for only the one night. Appreciated the juxtaposition of glossy modern art photos against the antique furnishing and millwork. Nice touches such as the offering of ice cream in the lobby in the evening, and complimentary wine tasting.
The only potential drawback is its First Hill location if you're loathe to walking to shopping / dining core or have issues with hills. But that's why there are cabs! At some point they'll need to replace / reupholster some of their soft furnishings as some are starting to look a bit dated / faded.
The good service by friendly people
Could be a little closer to the action.
Service was pleasant, very welcoming
Neighborhood a bit rough.
Style and history
It smelled a bit musty but that was not a problem in the room which was very nice. I would stay again.
It"s a great place for people who don't love chain hotel with a personal service. Defently not overpriced, we will come back again.
This small, elegant and historic hotel has a quiet location on Madison Street, near downtown, and a short drive to most attractions.
The immediate neighborhood is not as interesting as it once was, but is showing signs of renewal.
Nice big room, lovely furnishings. I enjoyed the live music in the lobby.
Delightful hotel with classic architecture, very kind helpful staff and best hotel bed I have ever slept in!!! It was a very easy walk to convention center. The Hunt Club restaurant / bar was great as was the food!
I liked it all.
Good place. Old school. Nice spacious lobby, good bar, spacious room. A nice spot in general with some luxury amenities like robe.
Location a little off the beaten path, but not far. I go to sea for biz so prefer to be in heart of things. Room key kinds funky, but not a big deal. Only one elevator. Not really an issue but could be.
Staff was great! Love the toy chest and cookies and milk for the kids. Will stay again!
The perfect weekend get-away for us, which we haven't done without the kids in a long time!
It was a large room with lots of space. Enjoyed the fruits and flavored water that was available throughout the day. Especially appreciated the late night floats. Excellent stay.
PARKING!!!! The parking is an atrocity. Only good thing is that between 6pm and 8am parking is free on the side of the streets.
Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Room was very nice.
A terrific classic old school hotel with modern amenities. Great character, charm and warmth that only a smaller hotel can provide. A gem of a bygone era that really has no comparison in Seattle.
The climb up First Hill might be a challenge for less than fit walkers but that's part of the experience! For those faint of heart, the hotel provides a courtesy vehicle to help take the bite out of the hike.
Great place and great food. I would definatley stay again.
