The atmosphere, the culture, of the hotel is first. I always look for places with a uniqueness (I do NOT want Best Western, La Quinta, etc - those are 'ok' but lack true depth to the experience). The South Beach Inn has a depth, a uniqueness, to being there. The cost was excellent, which provided an excellent value for the money. The staff were friendly, helpful, and interesting to talk with. I would certainly return and I highly recommend it.
Well, I didn't get to stay as long as I wanted :-). But that was no fault of the Inn. Hmmm I really don't have a complaint! :-).
Manager and staff made our stay a great time in South Padre. Would recommend them to anyone.
The price. We are fishermen and did not look for top-of-the-line accommodations.
No cups in the room. No room service. We stayed three nights and no room service!
This quiet, clean motel provides an affordable way to stay very close to the beach and very near very good restaurants. The management was very accomodating.
The area close to the beach, very quite. The beach is nice not a lot of people clean.
All other hotels and motels go down on the rates on Sunday and south beach inn charged the same rate as on Friday and Saturday. I see it this way things come around you do something to take advantage of people it will come back to you. So it is a great place to stay but if you are going to stay on Sunday go to motel 6 who brings their rates down from $99 to $39 on Sundays big difference.
Close to beach
We like the fact that the pool was right outside our door and all guess were very considerate on the noise. We also like the fact that the beach was very close a small walk. Having the stove did save time and money we cook a couple of meals there, including using the barbecue pit!!
Bathrooms is very small and there are no other amenities such as a iron or ironing board. so our night life we were a little winkle.
the room it self was great the view the pool right in front of room and a BBQ pit just overall great
the bed the mattress was not at all confortable bed made to much nosie with ever turn
We enjoyed our stay at the South Beach Inn. The place is exactly what you see in the photos. Very quaint, great pool, very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Close walk to the beach. Every room faces the pool. My kids said this was their favorite vacation ever (and we've been to Hawaii, on a cruise, etc.) We will definitely stay there again.
I stay at South Padre quite often, and this place was a nice contrast to the usual busy noisey hotels you'll find there. It's nicely tucked away, yet near everything you'll want during a stay on the island. It's a very short walking distance to the beach. The grounds are well kept and the parking is out of site yet conveniently close.
The beds could be a little nicer, but not too bad if you're only staying for a little while.
close to beach. good parking.
Did not clean room every day. Roaches in room. Ask for queen beds and got twin. No ice machine
The location was excellent. The kitchenette was very convenient. The pool was fine. For young people on a budget, this is a good place to stay. For those a little older with higher standards, I would recommend looking for a nicer place.
The room had not been deep cleaned in some time. The sheets had lipstick marks on them that I hope were stains. There was no vent in the bathroom so the room stayed a bit humid the entire time. The owner could have been friendlier and more helpful.
The room was clean. Adjustable shower head was nice and air conditioner worked well. It is about a block away from beach access points.
It was exactly what we needed for the stay and a brief walk from the beach and stores. We didn't need to drive from the moment we parked the car.
The rooms were dated and be sure to bring extra towels because their seemed to be only one maid on staff. Also if you want to grill make sure to bring what you need to clean it.
The beach was about 400 ft close
The place needs a re amp kinda out dated decorating good if you just need a place to crash and careful in their pool ..will scrape your soles
Location, avaibility, courteous and polite people.
Nothing in reality
It was walking distance to the beach.
Just what I needed. A nice place to shower, sleep, and eat-brought food from home and used the fridge- and what the tube when I got back from the beach or visiting friends on the island. 5 minutes from beach. No traffic. Very reasonably priced. Friendly folks. I am going back.
Great access to the beach and that the swimming pool was just outside our door. Also enjoyed the fact that the unit had a kitchen and that there was a grill just outside the front door. saved a lot of money by cooking our meals.
In a good location, close access to the beach.
• Décor needs to be updated • The beds made a crunching noise, like you were sleeping on leaves. • Has a mini kitchen but no exhaust vents. • Cookware available for and additional price. • Cut our stay short because we just didn’t feel comfortable.
Close to the beach , quiet, safe, friendly.
Bed , furniture ,no closet.
In short: cockroach infestation/broken windows/entire room was dirty, and the management basically said "not my problem." Please think very carefully before you stay here. After all the excellent reviews I saw on this site, I thought “this place must be great.” Now I wonder how many of their “reviews” were bought and paid for. It may just be we had a very rare bad experience, but from the attitude of the management, it seems like this might be the norm. Below, I’ve got our story and an overall pros/cons list so you can make a good informed decision with your money and vacation time. Overall experience – cockroach infestation, broken/dirty bathroom, thin walls with loud neighbors, and management that says “There’s nothing I can do – this is really your fault.” Upon arrival, we noticed a couple small bugs on the counter. We’re not unreasonable people, we understand it is Texas and it is humid – there will be a few critters. We’re not going to demand a new room because there was a bug. Our third night, however, returning around midnight, we found small cockroaches all over our table, sink, and bathroom, including a larger 2-inch cockroach above the showerhead. One even fell out from our bedside table drawer. I’m not an expert on the technical definition of “cockroach infestation,” but this was enough to pack up and leave immediately. Upon notifying management we were told “Well, there’s nothing we can do, you really should have said something earlier.” I understand they are a small business, but proceeding to blame the customer for unsanitary living conditions is, in my view, unacceptable. I would be completely willing to pay for the two nights we stayed, but they insisted on charging us the full price for all four nights– when we were being forced to pay for another room in another hotel. Not a good way to run a business, and a wholly unacceptable attitude to have towards others – “It’s your fault.
I really liked how nice the staff were and how clean the room was.
Close to the beach, great value, center of the island.
