The staff was rude, impatient, inconsistent, uninformed, and at times not very professional. At check in, I was not greeted politely and the whole experience was rushed and lacking essential information. I had to ask her to slow down and repeat herself, which she did, but in a way that seemed she was talking to a child. When I asked the best way to get to NYC, I was told that the last Staten Island ferry left Manhattan at 5 when in fact, it runs all night. When I brought this to her attention, there was no apology. The next morning I talked to a staff member asking how about the shuttle service and I was given very little information in a very muffled quiet tone. The rest of my interactions with the staff were ok but I was again disappointed at check out when he answered the phone in the middle and kept talking as he handed me a bill for parking and mouthed goodbye. After spending 5 nights there, I felt like I deserved a little more.
The facilities were nice but the rooms were very awkwardly set up, with the TV right in front of the wall that separates the beds from the living area.
The housekeeping was also very inconsistent. One day they did the bare minimum, the next they did a terrific job, and the next they left food and trash on the floor. It was just annoying.
I also thought the parking fees were a little ridiculous at $12/day but I am from Indiana, so what do I know. As far as location, it was awful. Again, if you're there on business or plan on using the airport, it's fine. But driving in the area is awful. The one nice thing is you can hardly hear the planes.
And then there's my shuttle experience. We used the shuttle to get to the air train one day and we were dropped off at Terminal C and told that's where we would be picked up. We came back early that day because we were tired and not feeling well. We got to terminal C at 3:00 and waited outside for the shuttle. By 3:30 I figured I should call the hotel.
I liked the pool, the large eating area, complimentary breakfast, and the overall cleanliness of the facility.
