Score from 15 reviews Good
Friendly staff; charming, old-style bed and breakfast. Central location - perfect if you want to stay right in downtown Ouray.
Small personal Hotel --- antiques fill the lobby and all the rooms. The Hotel itself is part of the living history of Ouray.
Food and atmosphere
The new owners are very personalble and helpful. Laura provides a well balanced and tasteful breakfast. The hotel's location is on the main street of Ouray. The room was quiet and well maintained. The other guests we talked to also had an excellent stay at the hotel. We would stay there again.
There were no dislikes. The new owners are waiting for their liquor license in order to serve wine in the afternoon. No afternoon treats such as coffee, tea or other beverages or light snacks was available. Once the new owners gain experience and a liquor license, this amenity may be provided as an extra attraction.
Good location, nice breakfast
TV had only one station, stairs
We have traveled through Ouray many times during business and leisure trips, but never spend an overnight there. This time we decided to stay two nights and enjoy the ambiance, history, sights, food, etc. Our experience at the St. Elmo was great, and provided us with a period-true room, great food from the hotel and Bon Ton restaurant, and interesting conversations with many of the other guests.
Our tired legs after hiking around the area - we need to get in better shape for our next return !!
1) Location to downtown, 2) Adjacency to the Bon Ton Restaurant where we had two great dinners 3) Friendliness/helpfulness of the staff
The noise from an occasional truck/car passing the hotel in the night.
Nicely restored OLD building. We were given a complementary glass of good wine at happy hour and a good breakfast was included in the price.
Nothing was bad... the shower was not for large people, but adequate for average size people.
Dining room for breakfast was a nice place to meet other travelers.
Too hot, no air conditioner and windows were kept closed downstairs. Would like some fresh air. Our room was not cleaned during our stay. I cleaned the bath tub.
Adjoining rooms were an unexpected bonus. Breakfast was lovely! We were delighted with our stay
The hotel has been restored with original decor and furniture and is a very special place to spend a night or two.
Nothing, although some people may miss a TV in their room.
Very clean, comfortable, friendly staff
Traffic noise but they can't control that
History of the building, talking with the owner, Sandy
Our room #1 had a motor noise outside the windows
Lovely period building with large beautifully appointed rooms. Very nice owners and cute dog. There are ceiling fans in the room but no air conditioning. We felt transported in time.
Very good breakfast. Location
Friendly staff, very comfortable bed,
Pricey, but it was a holiday weekend.
We had room two which turned out to be a suite with room for four people. The two of us loved it and our service dog enjoyed the ceiling to floor windows where he could look out on Main St. This is a gorgeous old historical property. We previously stayed in the Beaumont Hotel but we much prefer The St. Elmo as it is quaint and not at all stuffy like the Beaumont.
That we only had one night at the St. Elmo Hotel instead of three or four.
We loved our stay in your beautiful old hotel! Your cross-stitch pictures were so well-done as to look like paintings. Your decorating style is lovely. We particularly liked Room 7. I did peak into the room with the Jessie Wilcox Smith pictures--she's a favorite artist of mine. (When your guests had left and left the door open!) I do hope that whoever purchases St. Elmo's Hotel from you will keep it just as you have fixed it up to be. Breakfast was pleasant and nicely presented. THANKS! Kathy and Lin Reimer
Comfortable, clean......room was great! Little things, details were really nice......
We would have loved to gave a television in the room!
it was close to the falls. all and all it was very nice. I enjoyed alot
it was far away from the hot springs
I loved the old world western ambience of the hotel. The staff was just lovely and the morning breakfast hit the spot! Thank you Sandy and Laura ;) And I loved that there was no television taking up space and marring the room's old world feel.
What a turn of the century hotel! Great place and Ouray is spectacular.
The restaurant was closed!
The only place we stay when in Ouray. Great location, great people.
Perfect in every way. A beautifully decorated period house in a small town full of character and charm.
