This historic boutique hotel is located less than a mile from New Orleans’ vibrant French Quarter District.

This historic New Orleans hotel was built in a refurbished bank and still features some of the original vault doors. It is less than a 15-minute walk from the French Quarter.

Just 2 blocks from New Orleans’s well-known French Quarter, this hotel features restored 19th-century buildings. It has a hot buffet breakfast and rooms with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV.
Score from 499 reviews Excellent
I liked the reception, room facilities like coffee machine, ironing board and flat iron, clean bath room and well facilitated, bed comfort plus wide flat TV. Breakfast was served on time. All workers were friendly. Thumbs up St James Hotel.
The room could vibrate sometimes and the elevator was slow
Close to French quarter a short walking distance. Comfortable bed slept well.
It doesn't look like the advertisement's. It's under construction and we weren't told that when we made our reservation. Parking not included and was not told. Must read fine print also a extra fee. Coffee and a quersant is not a continental breakfest but that was all that was offered.
Price and location
Proximity to street cars, French Quarter and wedding events.
Being woken up early with garbage trucks, a very squeaky bed next door, and heavy footsteps from hardwood floors.
Lovely Decor, Extremely Helpful Staff, Close to EVERYTHING, Excellent Value
beds breakfast wifi
exterior needs repair lobby under construction crossants don't always arrive warm
What's not to like, friendly staff, great facility and location. Loved coffee and croissants in the morning delivered to your room.
At check out we were charged for several laundry items that weren't ours.
St. James was a perfect distance from everything going on in the French Quarter, allowing you to experience it all, while simultaneously providing a beautiful sanctuary to escape to with a partner. The complimentary room service coffee and food was a perfect way to be woken up after a long night out, or in.
It could be a little noisy at certain times of the day, due to proximity to some main streets, but thats pretty unescapable if you want to be near the action
Breakfast provided was pathetic
Location near Superdome, WWII Museum & French Quarter.
Small rooms, loud air conditioning unit
We wanted a place that was close to both the French Quarter and the Superdome, St. James was perfect for locoation. The staff was exceptional, friendly, and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay a great experience. I would definitely stay here again.
My sole complaint is that the water pressure in the shower was really, really, really low. I managed just fine, but if this is a deal breaker for some one you might keep it in mind.
The staff was excellent. The building itself was beautiful.
The work being done on the building. No valet or bellman to greet you. The very stained carpet.
Location nearby missisipi Shower Bed
Much too expensive, Swimmingpool very small
Everything about this trip was great! I had a blast.
Fairly clean. Workers were very nice and professional
The water was slow running out. Didn't receive breakfast the next day.
Very close to french quarter. One minute walk to canal street. Stylish hotel with lots of nice touches. Valet parking.
There was a leak in the bathroom so we were moved into the room next door. This was a smaller room so I asked for us to be moved back to the original room once it was fixed as we were there for 3 nights. They said ok and would let us know when it was ready. However they let the room out to someone else. Not a massive issue but it was irritating to hear people in our nice big room next door!
Big room, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Cold water available in the lobby. Room price included Wi-Fi and breakfast.
Construction work on the street next to the hotel starting 6 am, and pick-up of trash 2:30 am from the street: it was very loud, but I guess not really the fault of the hotel. Breakfast with croissants great for the first morning, then one would really like to have something else like a fruit.
Staff was always very cheerful & friendly-answered all our questions & promptly helped us out whenever we needed it. Location was perfect for us-we walked nearly everywhere-French Quarter, WW II Museum, restaurants, & were able to cab easily when needed to. Loved the morning croissants, coffee & juice-great way to kick off the 8 days we stayed there.
Location is very convenient, environment is quiet and easily accessible to French Quarter within walking distance or can take the streetcar as well
My wife and I loved the comfortable bed, location, the setup of the room. Delivery of breakfast to the room. The staff was helpful and very nice. The staff made the stay very enjoyable.
Small bathrooms, the rooms had little flaws as chip paint, broken counter in bathroom, dirty fans. The breakfast was sub par. The pool was more like a hot tub and the elevator needs repair.
Old hotel with a lot of character! This location is very close to the action, yet away from the party crowd. Mother's is just around the corner if you want an excellent PoBoy. We walked all around the French Quarter from this excellent location. And after all that walking, the bed was sooooo comfy! We stayed in a King suite on the first floor, so we had direct garden access. There's a small pool out there, and it was nice to hang my feet over the edge in the cool water.
The room was mostly clean, except you could tell they didn't bother dusting under furniture.
Great central location, very comfortable bed, staff friendly, rates more than reasonable.
