Location nearby missisipi Shower Bed
Much too expensive, Swimmingpool very small
Everything about this trip was great! I had a blast.
Fairly clean. Workers were very nice and professional
The water was slow running out. Didn't receive breakfast the next day.
Very close to french quarter. One minute walk to canal street. Stylish hotel with lots of nice touches. Valet parking.
There was a leak in the bathroom so we were moved into the room next door. This was a smaller room so I asked for us to be moved back to the original room once it was fixed as we were there for 3 nights. They said ok and would let us know when it was ready. However they let the room out to someone else. Not a massive issue but it was irritating to hear people in our nice big room next door!
Big room, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Cold water available in the lobby. Room price included Wi-Fi and breakfast.
Construction work on the street next to the hotel starting 6 am, and pick-up of trash 2:30 am from the street: it was very loud, but I guess not really the fault of the hotel. Breakfast with croissants great for the first morning, then one would really like to have something else like a fruit.
Staff was always very cheerful & friendly-answered all our questions & promptly helped us out whenever we needed it. Location was perfect for us-we walked nearly everywhere-French Quarter, WW II Museum, restaurants, & were able to cab easily when needed to. Loved the morning croissants, coffee & juice-great way to kick off the 8 days we stayed there.
Location is very convenient, environment is quiet and easily accessible to French Quarter within walking distance or can take the streetcar as well
My wife and I loved the comfortable bed, location, the setup of the room. Delivery of breakfast to the room. The staff was helpful and very nice. The staff made the stay very enjoyable.
Small bathrooms, the rooms had little flaws as chip paint, broken counter in bathroom, dirty fans. The breakfast was sub par. The pool was more like a hot tub and the elevator needs repair.
Old hotel with a lot of character! This location is very close to the action, yet away from the party crowd. Mother's is just around the corner if you want an excellent PoBoy. We walked all around the French Quarter from this excellent location. And after all that walking, the bed was sooooo comfy! We stayed in a King suite on the first floor, so we had direct garden access. There's a small pool out there, and it was nice to hang my feet over the edge in the cool water.
The room was mostly clean, except you could tell they didn't bother dusting under furniture.
Great central location, very comfortable bed, staff friendly, rates more than reasonable.
The staff was great! Burton at the front desk made us feel at home and suggested a restaurant that has some of the best seafood we have ever eaten. We will return again some day. It's good to know there are still some courteous folks out there!!
The staff was very friendly. The room was decent size with an amazing bed! The location could not be better. Under 5 mins walk from the French quarter.
Parking a bit pricey.
All of the staff were great. Room was excellent clean, nice decor and quiet. Great location to everything. Absolutely no negatives and would stay again.
The West Indies style, the friendliness of the staff, the comfort of the bed, location (close to both event venues I attended!), my semi-private courtyard (except when the Bachelor Pary group reveled there at 4:30 AM!)
The room service for the very nice complimentry Continental Breakfast was somewhat inconsistent; some bathroom fixtures needed service (e.g. leaking toilet, shower handle not attached) - minor details not serious enough to spoil our visit!
Great location and lovely rooms.
No bar or restaurant and breakfast is very basic.
Draperies in Room 314 dirty and torn. Carpets not vacuumed in the 4 days we were there. Hotel advertised breakfast included, but only Continental breakfast was seved. In room safe not operable
Great location, close to the French Quarter. The staff is excellent! Friendly, helpful, they go out of their way to make sure you are happy there! Lots of personal attention. They gave us a suite instead of just a room. Courtyard is great, nice to just sit outside and relax.
Great location, historic charm, comfortable bed, helpful staff, nice ammenites, coffee & croissants delivered to room in am, and decent price for NOLA.
the architecture was phenomenal
the price was horrendous
location was convenient, friendly staff, sense of being in a building with some history
more about New Orleans: conditions of the sidewalks and streets surrounding the hotel
The St James Hotel is a beautiful old historic Hotel. Our room looked just like it did in the pictures that I saw online. Ariel and Michelle are the two young ladys who took care of us when we checked in. They are very sweet and attended to our every need. And housekeeping has a wonderful lady name Phyllis. She is a gem. The little courtyard is a wonderful place to sit in the evening and have a cup of coffee. It's close to everything that the French Quarter has to offer. When my husband and I come back to the French Quarter the St James will be the hotel we stay at. The Chop House restaurant next door is a bit pricey but the steaks are delicious.
They're really isn't anything that I did not like about the St James. I read the other reviews that other people gave and I don't know what they were complaining about. It is a historic hotel and the rooms are as they were back then small. If you want a large room then book a modern hotel. Others complained about the noise well if you book in the French Quarter what do you expect it is the French Quarter and there will be a little noise. You will get that at any hotel you stay at in the French Quarter.
Work going on in garden early in morning and late in evening. Room right off garden window by bed could hear all work and conversations. Price for room that should not have occured. Not a plus to have a garden room.
Location. Some staff
Service was sporadic. Breakfast order wrong one day & neither room service nor front desk would answer phone. Was delivered four empty cups - no coffee. Personal items removed from room and never returned. Had to negotiate with manager to have night compted.
