Very close to tube
As the title says, they do indeed rent rooms by the hour, and as we were coming out (luckily we only stayed one night), a man and a "lady" was first haggling over the price, then they were arguing over how long they needed the room. Me and the Missus are very open minded (we do Amsterdam and Ibiza every year), but even we were a bit taken back when we saw this. The room itself was tiny, smelt damp, the air-con didn't work, the bed was pushed into one corner, two people couldn't walk pass each other one person always had to be on the bed), and it was 3 flights up with no lift, and as we were on holiday for 2 weeks, we had two large and two cabin size cases....NOT Fun-avoid!!
Fine location and friendly staff
Very basic facilities. No credit card payment, expensive wifi.
The room was nice and spacious and very clean. The bed was comfy and clean. The staff where really nice and accommodating. Bar just down stairs good beer and food. Also 24 hour bagel, pizza and coffee place on the corner, very cheap and food was good too and coffee a God send.
Very noisy outside as only single pained glass but got used to it.
old building, unpolite staff, freezing during the night...poor heating, poor bed covers
I had some fears about staying here. But the room was so quiet, so comfortable. I loved the old wooden headboard of the bed. I loved the wooden window shutters. I loved that there was no elevator-- no banging doors or dinging. I loved the tiny black and white bathroom. I loved the old radiator and its gentle hissing. And, of course, I loved the location. I will definitely stay again.
The wifi had to be purchased and it only covered one device.
The family room was great as we had 2 double bed rooms with 2 bathrooms and a connecting door. No elevator and one staff helped to carry our luggage to the rooms. We stayed at 2 separate floors as we had checked in on 2 different dates due to a visit to Niagara Falls. The second time we checked in the rooms were room no. 25 was much better and felt newer. Overall we loved the location as it was easy to get food with a supermarket 2 blocks down.
The 1st time we checked in at RM 45 was fine except 1 of the 2 tvs was damaged and both bathrooms had shower knobs that was not functioning and we were nearly scalder a few times.
Cool location which made travelling around Manhattan/Brooklyn easy. Really warm in winter. It is located on a reasonably safe street and we felt quite comfortable walking around at night. Cool tattoo place down the street- "Kulture".
We had a roof leak on our second night (very heavy rain) - BUT the staff were great and moved us right away. It is an older building, so the stairs were narrow and rickety. No free wifi.
Fantastic trendy location location, clean but basic very friendly staff ,it´s very near to astor place and 8th street subway stations. I would highly recommend this hotel
St. Mark's Hotel is in an excellent location in the lower east side nestled among a multitude of shops, restaurants and bars. Our room was clean, comfortable and cozy with a retro decor. We arrived an hour before check-in and were able to check in early without a problem.
The beds were a little hard and the brown duvets unattractive and scratchy. It's cash only so be prepared.
very noisy location
i was able to sleep inside
the bed was like a plank of wood. the room was very warm and small and even the a/c didn't cool it down. no elevator.
Low quality - not partiularly clean, no elevator, no remote in room, only one blanket
-bars, restaurants, metro, fastfoods, grocery shop were very close - McSorley's Old Ale House Bar is probably one minute by foot (great bar, great beer) - small room but clean - everyday cleaning
-street noise, but its the same everywhere in the city center
Clean and comfortable, quiet.
Locaton......nice clean best..
No lift .....only stairs ..its tough to carry luggage
spacious room adequate facilities close to metro good bagel shop near by
hard bed perfect for a one night stay wouldn't recommend for a long stay
Perfect location, very close to NYU and Astor place subway stations.
Radiator making a lot of noise in the night. Internet is not included on the price (you have to pay an extra 30 dollars per person). We saw some mosquitos and some bugs in the room.
The room was clean and cheap. The bathroom was pleasant and very clean. The staff were polite and courteous and quick to help. Great location!
The rooms were incredibly small but the room was so cheap and clean it didn't matter.
The convenience to the subway and most of the lower Manhattan touristy areas. We were walking distance from Little Italy and China Town. The price was good for the location.
The pipes are noisy.
Hotel was clean and tidy! Location is amazing!
Very basic and bed thin walls!Pretty much can hear everything. A little more expensive than I would have paid but it did the job!
Best location and really really CLEAN!!!!!
