The friendly welcoming staff and nice welcome gift. Clean neat room. Great location.
Waking distance from desired destinations
The hotel is comfortable, stylish and has big rooms. VERY comfortable beds
Checkin was difficult without creditcard, but that is to be expected in a US hotel.
The location was perfect- it is easy to walk and/or ride almost anywhere in San Francisco from Nob Hill, and a quiet location to come back to after a busy day. The restaurant in the lobby provided a nice, easy place for breakfast but it was a real inconvenience that it is not open at lunch time or before 5 in the afternoon. We also appreciated the room size.
There was an overall lack of amenities, particularly given the room price. We had no clock in our room and no bedside lamps, and after asking at the desk and with housekeeping we gave up asking! The lack of a place to get a light lunch or even a beer in the afternoon seemed really inconsistent with a four star hotel. On a smaller scale, when we used glasses in our room they were not teplaced by housekeeping- and we were there for 4 nights! Overall the hotel is in a great location with a view and history behind it, but is in need of significant updating in the rooms and attention to detail for the guests.
Location, layout of room, staff
No restaurant or room service.
Big bed Tram stop nearby
Not having a proper wardrobe - just a rail in bathroom
Location was great! Check-in and check-out process was extremely friendly and professional. Txtme note from gm was memorable. Views from room were spectacular.
Sign facing elevator with room numbers arrows (on 5th floor) did not include my room number...it was missing! Front desk person had no sense of humor about this...just said she was aware of the problem.
You can hear the noise of the cable car, which makes it hard to fall asleep. The hotel provides earplugs to mitigate the issue.
Rooms are not clean and the operator and front desk employees are not professional
Great location in Nob Hill, just across street from Fairmont, and next to Mark Hopkins for much more reasonable price. I had a partial view of Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz from my room! Staff was very friendly and helpful.
The front desk were very helpful and helped me with all my issues.
There was no Wifi in my room as my room was in a black spot and I was there for business! They couldn't move me. The pipe under the sink was broken and leaking water they did nothing about this. I moved hotel free of charge.
We were upgraded to a room on the top floor and had all of sf at our feet! The location is close to many of the 'must see' sights.
The hotel's location on Nob Hill is both a plus and minus: a plus for the magnificent views - but a minus because the STEEPness of the hill makes it difficult to get around on foot - or at least difficult to get back to the hotel on foot!
View, decoration, staff
the hotel charged twice for the room with the payment by credit card, we had to call the hotel and our european bank to fix th problem. The staff was very tired and seemed completely indifferent to what goes on.

Everything about the hotel
Great location, in the middle of many important amenities. Withing walking distance from fishermans wharf, union square, chinatown....
Location was great. Staff was good. Rooms were reasonably maintained if spartan. Great launch pad for exploring SF.
The elevators were inadequate (insufficient number), broken down twice, and slow. Limited services in the hotel.
the bed is very comfortable, the staff is very courteous, room is the right size ...
