After attending the Stanford football game we just needed a place to crash before driving back to the East Bay..Stanford Inn was convenient, clean..though pretty old, still comfy.I believe we reserved a regular room but.We got an apartment..2 bedrooms, walk in closet, small but clean bathroom..diningroom and kitchen..quite spacious..would be good for a family with small children or two couples..aside from a little street traffic, was very quiet..we were up and out early so didn't meet any staff..but served our purpose well..stayed across the street for years and payed triple the price..would come back..:}
only concern was the parking..very little provided..there was street parking available but had to be permitted..we came in late..office was closed, though our key was provided..fortunately there was one last parking spot, though our truck was a hassle to get in there, we made it!!..
The staff were very friendly. The bed was fairly comfortable and the room was spacious. It looks a little dirty at first glance, but it's really just old and they clean daily. The shower was nice. Some plates, bowls, and drinking glasses are provided in the kitchen. The location is very convenient to Stanford, downtown Palo Alto, and the Palo Alto Caltrain Station, along with some good restaurants (try the Sushi place down the street!). Not a very classy place, but comfortable and reasonable enough for a long stay if you don't mind the slightly downtrodden feel of the place.
The room clearly hasn't been renovated in a long time. The bed sheets were very thin and somewhat scratchy (I recommended taking a comfy pair of pajamas). Sometimes I would come home and find other peoples' hair (my guess is belonging to the person who cleaned the room) on the pillows of my made bed and sometimes on the clean towels in the bathroom. There is no built-in AC, and the stand-alone AC leaked A LOT. I ended up having to put a towel down. The kitchen is tiny but usable, although there are no eating utensils. There seems to be a lot of noisy traffic outside in the mornings, even in the back of the building... Especially on Tuesdays starting at about 5:30 AM. I think that must be trash day. You can hear almost everything through the walls, including people walking through the hall and up and down the stairs. Some of the wall outlets didn't work (all the ones near the bed). There is no pool or gym or any of that sort of amenity.
Make sure you have a small car for parking. Bed mattress very worn down and very uncomfortable. I slept In the car so my husband could be more comfortable. Room looked nothing like The pictures.
The room was HOT. There was one portable AC unit that stopped working in the middle of the night and did not cool the room down to less than 86 degrees. I could hear rats in the walls at night. The mattress had one threadbare sheet on top of it-- no mattress cover and the blankets were old. The kitchen needed a good cleaning. The location is on a busy street and you cannot keep your windows open to cool the room down because of the traffic. DO NOT stay here. Spend any amount of money to upgrade yourself even slightly!
There was a full- service kitchen, large living-bedroom, nice dining room table, big walkin closet.Nice cleaning lady.
Air conditioning did not work; luckily it was nice and cool so never felt hot. Didn't have mirror by desk which would have helped for two women trying to put on makeup. But it was okay to dress in bathroom but if had extra mirror two people could put on makeup.
Nothing. If they pay me I would not stay there. It was horrible.
There was nothing to like. One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. I slept on my cloth and did not take a shower because I was afraid to catch something.
Great service and accommodations.
Parking was limited requiring street parking at times. It is located near a major road, though it quiets down late in the night.
spacious room kitchenette with fridge and microwave
street noise old
Really overpriced for what it is. I didn't mind the accommodations but I did mind the cost.
Cool old building, good location relative to Palo Alto with cheaper rates than other nearby options.
My shower didn't work and as I was so rushed for time, I didn't have time to get them to fix it.
No security lock on door-could be opened w/credit card. Dirty furniture w/stains. Black mold around kitchen sink. Cupboard under kitchen sink zip tied shut-pen light showed moldy rags wrapped around plumbing w/drip pan underneath. Bed had body hair on sheet that looked slept in. One bath towel w/crusted dirt on corner hanging on rack in bath. Sink basin and toilet did look clean. Gas smell in Kitchen. Closed the door to kitchen to keep gas odor out. Not a good place to stay for patient @ Stanford Cancer Center.
Convenient location, free parking
Poor room condition, broken faucet handle, mirror had lost some of its backing, very old furnishings, exceedingly noisy
the rooms were spacious and comfortable. we got a free upgrade and really enjoyed our stay.
The main office is hard to reach and there is rarely anyone there.
Walking distance to where I needed to be Staff very friendly Cheaper than competition
Electrical outlets missing covers Mildew in shower Cracked windows Unsecure room door
the hardwood floors were nice, and the bed was relatively comfortable
no deadbolt or chain on the door, windows were single pane and hard to open and close(one was missing the turn handle so we had to go outside to push the window shut),bathroom fan not working, coffee from previous guest was still in the coffee pot! It was very noisy without earplugs.
everything. unsafe block.
No ironing board.
Very spacious! Close to the Caltrain and a mile walk to downtown Palo Alto
My bathroom windows didn't really lock. It is an older place and it shows, but overall good value.
We liked having a kitchen.
It was so cold that we had to sleep in our jackets. The two portable heaters that were in the room did not work. Pictures did not match the room and for $123.00 a night we would rather stay at a Best Western.
Very convenient location.
The hotel could do with some renovation. Also, despite the space heater, it got quite cold in the room during the night.
The room was spacious and had all the amenities.
The room had not been updated since 1960 it still had tile from that era. There was garbage from the last guest a dirty coffee filter in the coffe pot and no coffee in the room. There was broken sharp tile edges that would be a danger to a child taking a bath but then one couldn't take a bath because there was no plug to stop up the tub. When I tried to talk to management about this there was no one available to speak to me. This is no 5 star hotel!!!!
Close to Hospital
Old, musty, have to park on the street.
No heater Tough to darken the room for daytime sleepers or to keep prying eyes out.
Staff is very friendly and you can't beat the location. Loved my stay!
Had character. Nice wood floors (a bit too much smell of bleach on the floors and the towels).
Couldn't find the heater or extra blankets. I was quite cold the second night! My colleague in another room found it and it blew a large amount of dust all over.
