Two things: First, VERY poor breakfast, it was a couple of ugly apples (when I asked for more they said that that was all they had), bagels, cream cheese, blueberry jelly, butter, mini muffins, coffee, regular Lipton tea, milk and orange juice (not the good kind). As a person not used to eat bagels for breakfast, this was a big bummer!! Second, very BAD water pressure! Even though you could still shower, it took me longer than usual (as a woman with long hair It took me forever to wash it!)
This hotel is actually not bad, the room was comfortable, good bed, clean towels, a fridge so we could leave our food or drinks, free wifi and TV. And I'm very picky with hotels! Location was excellent, we walked everywhere!!!
The bed and breakfast.
Staff was friendly, room was clean, bed was comfortable and wi-fi was available. Location close to Penn Station and subway entrance just at the corner. Plenty of eating options nearby.
Staff are not so friendly
excellent location, near to Times square and a few steps to the subway!
* Was a big group at the breakfast so since it was very small it was a big line. On the other hand I could explore a nice spot outside the hotel.
* Very good location, near yellow line (N, Q & R) and walking distance from Penn Station. Very convenient if arriving to EWR.
Very slow elevator and No posibility to regulate air condotioning. Poor breakfast and too few tables
God service and Nice location
View from the single rooms was a brick wall....understandable since it is a city
Helpful friendly staff
1. WIFI connection is too slow. 2. There was construction noises during my stay.
Perfect location, very convenient transportation.
I didn't like that the light bulb in our closet burnt out on our last night there or the brick wall for our view, but since we were not there to sit in the room all day, I guess it was ok.
I was traveling with my mom from Boston via train. If you're comning in from Penn Station and want to be smack dab in the middle of NYC, this is the place to be. It was a 10 minute walk from Penn Station and 15-20 minutes from Times Square. The staff were very friendly and were extremely accommodating and our room was very clean.
Uncomfortable bed Noisy
Location Good price for midtown
Breakfast No coffee shop of hotel Only one elevator
the room should be definitely cleaner
fantastic location and good price
I stayed for 4 nights. It was really cold in NY last February due to big chill. My mother wanted to take a bath to warm. However the plug of the bathtub was broken and could not fill the tub with hot water.I told it to the front desk and the bell man checked the plug. But it did not work. We could not but help staying at the same room for 4 nights. I assume the former guests claimed it as well and the front desk might have already known the problem of the bath's plug from the beginning. If I were to stay for only 1 night,I would not mind it. But we booked for 4 nights. The front desk staff should have assigned a room that has no problem to a guest who stay more than 2 days.
The room was just far too hot! Even with the windows wide open and the unit in room turned off - the central heating was turned up way too high. Staff responded well to our complaints though and even gave us a fan to help the room temperature.
Location of the hotel was perfect for visiting Manhattan. Block away from Statue of Liberty and Penn Station, Subway at corner of street and a ten minute walk from Times Square. Staff obliging and rooms cleaned perfetly every day.
Window on the wall no sunlight
deposit for room, unheard of in all my years staying at hotels
the only issue I had was that the wireless internet did not work from the room it may have been the specific location I was in or maybe all wifi only works from the lobby.
the Stanford Hotel is exactly what a value hotel should be. Though the rooms are quite small and the view maybe a brick wall but the room is clean, the building is warm, the bed is comfortable and the bathroom was brand new. Don't bring your wife here on a romantic date or expect to spend a lot of time in the room but if just need a bed for a business trip or you plan on being a tourist all day and night, the Stanford is in a great location.
- Small rooms - Breakfast included but could be better
- Clean - Friendly and good service - Nearby Subway and Penn station - Really recommend this hotel
Noisy room (heat system) and need to wait a long time before getting warm water in the shower. Poor breakfast!
There was a lack of available and easy to reach plug sockets, no kettle, and the fridge in our room was incredibly noisy.
The location is perfect to get around New York. Central and convenient, perfect hotel to be able to reach all parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Clean and comfortable.
Room was incredibly noisy and heating was very uneven- half the room was very cold the other half burning hot. Bathroom was like an icebox.
Location near Madison Square Garden
Unclean carpet stains
Nice staff, room recently renovated and clean. Highly recommended.
