The hostel itself is quite good, it's fairly new and clean. The staff is always very helpful and they offer cereals and coffee for breakfast. The Stay shares the building with another hotel and I've seen many homeless people taking the lifts -not so good.. the area is really bad and after 7pm you don't feel safe walking in downtown. Loads of homeless and crazy people ont the streets. An international mix of hotel guests. Convenient to downtown la. Public Transportation easily accessible. A variety of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Continental breakfast available daily. Check out is noon, very do-able. Very inexpensive lodging compared to downtown hotels. I would stay there again, on concurrent trips to downtown la. If you always feeling overheated you may have problems sleeping without air-conditioning. The ceiling fan circulated the air perfectly for me, as I have a slight body build and don't overheat easily. The trucks and buses driving on the street are extremely loud throughout the night and light sleepers may have a problem with this. After the first night, it was no longer a problem for me.

Quite clean and comfy if not a bit noisy, couldn't work out the ceiling fan and very noisy with the window open. Location was right on the edge of reasonable streets and those where you felt a bit unsafe.

Clean, tidy and staff as friendly as you need them to be. The Star line hop on hop off bus stop is a couple of minutes away so it was great to get on and see the sights and sounds of LA and surrounding area. Location is not the best as there isnt much around the hotel/hostel. Downtown LA is not exactly the most exciting or touristy destination. We found some good places to eat 5-6 blocks west of Stay.

Great location in downtown LA, convenient safe parking, large number of restaurants and city sights within walking distance (by NYC standards), great value for basic accommodations... It reminded us of a Hosteling International hotel we stayed at in San Fran but if there was a community kitchen, etc. we never heard about it. We were in town for a wedding and spent no time in the hotel except to sleep but it might have been nice to hear more from the staff in writing or in person about amenities.

Really didn't like the fact bathrooms were for public n had to shower in the shower the public use . It was kind of dirty but since I'm a germaphobic that's my opinion but yea didn't mind the stay at all. Service was good n everything else went swell . No complains just that one reason. But I know it's small place so kind of hard but good experience overall.

But in general it is very friendly place and you can leave your laggage there after check-out till 11 P.M. or even for the next morning. We love this place and ready to stay there again. It was nice to stay but there are two problems. In February it is really cold in the rooms, there is no heater or conditioner in the room. Second is we were waiting our extra blanket more than 20 minutes and manager at the lobby called to stuff-guy 3 times before he brought the blanket for us.

Stay on Main has a good location near la Art Walk galleries and the style within the hotel is modern and fun. We didn't have any towels in our room and waited from 4.30pm to 6.00pm, but still no towels (we went out to dinner). The next morning I called the front desk a second time and we finally received our towels. The ceiling in the bathroom was falling apart due to moisture and the bathroom was poorly designed so water escaped all over the floor to the toilet. The hotel is a bit like staying in a submarine and located inside another hotel. It's almost as if the Stay on Main Hotel was sectioned off storage rooms and seems to be a bit of a fire trap.

The room was exactly like the photo advertised by the hotel. Pretty clean and everything new. Staff is helpfull and has a great location. I totally recommend this place to stay!! Reception is open until 7 am, before that you must use the next door hotel loby entrance. There is some noise coming from the window, like ac machines, not bad. The neighborhood is kind of sketchy at night but safe. There is no parking lot, so you must pay 15 dlls for night service.

Downtown la location, good for access to Union Station and Greyhound. City bus stop outside door of hotel , metro system 2 blocks away. After dark, area around hotel not suitable for walking about, many vagrants and panhandlers. Ok to walk about during daytime.

It was cheap and cool and in a hip location. TVs in the dorms was cool. I liked the chic funky design similar to the orb in New York or whatever. Expensive parking kind of negated the cheapness of the room. If it wasn't for my having a scooter.

The price was decent, but the room was clean, lobby was clean, the whole style of the hotel was kind of modern. I liked the rec room on the 6th floor, where I had stayed. Loved the shower! With the marble and rainfall shower head, but one problem listed in the next question box. I could hear the people in the room next to mine through the bathroom air vent, and I felt like I had lost a lot of privacy. Painting quality was sub-par, but the colors were nice.

I liked the fact that we had our own room since I hate hostels. I liked the young atmosphere, the colorful walls/furniture and the staff, who was very helpful. The place was also mostly clean. The shower next to our show was too cold. The toilets were clogged. Nothing major since there are other showers/toilets on the same level. Slightly annoying though when you really want to go to the restrooms in the morning when everybody is showering. The breakfast was a bit disapointing. I was expecting something bigger. But I won't criticize too much. It was better than nothing :)

For a cheap venue, at least it was clean. They messed up our reservations and tryed to give us a room without bathroom. The fixed it, but after a lot of fighting. There were some weird people inside, looking like bums or delinquents. Stay here only if you are on a budget and don't mind this anoyances.

Rooms were very nice and clean. Wireles Internet was wery bad. There were no sinks in shared toilets to wash your hands and no toilet paper eather. Breakfast was really poor, only cereals and coffee or tee. And all that was served on single use styroks plates! What a waste of plastic!!!

Close to Pershing Square station only about 8-9 min walk bus16/316 can take you directly to Beverly Center The area is full of shady and homeless people sitting on wheelchair smoking marijuana yelling and swearing at each other it's a truly awful neighborhood I was scared of these people didnt go out at night at all booked a queen bed room with my own bathroom but it is right beside the shared washroom and I could constantly hear door slamming so I got my room changed it had strong cigarettes smell coming thru the vent in the bathroom but at least it was quiet so I had to settle with this room paid USD $221 including tax for 3 nights during christmas cant really complain because of the low price but will not return to this hostel
