Score from 547 reviews Very good
Shared bathrooms; Super noisy, we could hear everything from the hallway; Lots of street noise; Location is in the downtown, however not much to see there;
The hostel is very central in a beautiful building, the reception hall is very cool and has a retro atmosphere
The stuff is terribly rude and not at all helpful. The shared rooms do not have lockers, which is insane for rooms that accomodate up to 6-8 people! I had to upgrade to a single bedroom because of that :(
Nice rooms, very beautiful lobby, friendly staff and easy access to metro.
Quite loud environment, you can easily hear everything when you're in your room. The Downtown area is not the most comfortable in LA, but for short stay it's alright.
Very small, smelly, dirty bathroom.
Downtown is a good position to take buses and trains... Not for the nightlife. Hotel in a good position and nice inside, good staff.
Rooms are old.
Location leaves a bit to be desired. In room basins for share rooms and tiny shower rooms pretty inconvenient.
Everything was very clean and nice
Rooms were a bit to small. Bathroom was also small. Needs more wall plugs.
near to the train station metro
staf at the reseption no smile and cold. noisy, room wery old, ugly
rules are a little bit up tight, but food is good and generous, staff and everything else is very good to excellent.
Enjoyed the breakfast
Very noisy area no air con
Location pretty good for LA - close to many Downtown attractions, close to subway at Pershing Square and close to buses. Foyer and entry looked impressive. Computers in foyer for guests. Wi fi in rooms good. Breakfast not bad, cereal and waffles. Staff helpful.
Room clean, but very old decor. Bed hot and pillows uncomfortable. No air conditioning, just a ceiling fan. Bathroom clean, but also old and shower ran hot and cold.
Hotel's decoration and others.
next to a very busy street.
The limited number of elevators in this hotel . Housekeeping and maintenance do not seem to have a service elevator, and guests with luggage are often squeezed inside elevators with housekeeping carts.
Quite area, close proximity to hop-on hop-off pick up points.
Mexican staff at the reception particularly on our check-in day was not accommodating, very rude and impatient. No customer service at all.
The price of this hotel was very affordable for Los Angeles.
Wishing we had paid a little extra for a nicer hotel. We booked a private room with a shared bathroom. The bathroom was pretty unpleasant. The hotel hallways were even worse and stunk like stale cigarette smoke. The room was also pretty grimy and smelly. Perhaps the more expensive rooms the hotel offers are in better condition, but this one we would never stay in again. I couldn't wait to get out of there.
Great little hotel/ hostel on the edge of downtown! Downtown is really coming alive these days with great bars and restaurants lots of shopping near by a swell with great transport links! Breakfast was a nice little extra aswell, great value for money! Would love to stay again
The taxi driver from the bus stop tried to tell us the hotel was really bad and to go elsewhere as the area was bad! This is an old view of downtown, the are behind the hotel might not be the best but u have no reason to be there! Downtown is a must and the hotel is great!
Good position, very central Good facilities at the ground floor Helpful staff
Very noisy during the night, probably because of the showers or hot water system Poor shared bathroom and shower Very small double rooms
Close proximity to office in downtown
Inconsistent front desk service, lack of clarity regarding number of beds per room, listing did not specify who the restroom facilities would be shared with (I booked assuming some sort of joint room rather than an entire floor/dorm style sharing). Frustrating when needed to make adjustments and our tired trainees weren't able to check in despite Stay On Main having a credit card authorization for all but the minor upgrade charges. Booking.com was super helpful! Wish I could say the same for more than 1 of the multiple front desk attendants I've interacted with.
Price was reasonable. Staff friendly, small fitness area & breakfast included. Comfortable bed. Good for one person. Located close to most downtown site. Shuttle service available for nominal price.
Pay attention to your personal security. Doors need to be locked with all 4 locks. Homeless shake the doors for a place to stay in the middle of the night. Not a full size bath, sink & only mirror in shower stall. Small space for 2 people.
entrance hall looks nice
terrrible breakfast - do NOT pay extra for this avoid shared facilities - it's DIRTY (probably not the hotel's fault - the other residents are mostly boozy kids peeing all over the toilet floor) boozy kids which are VERY NOISY at 4am
My gf and I came to LA to see a show at Exchange Nightclub, didn't want to spend 300 on a hotel but just wanted a room that gave us privacy and got the job done. The place has great character and we loved the noon check out. bathrooms were just a few doors down the hall, no problem. Fun lobby with ping pong and a recreational room for people to hang out in. If you're high maintenance and uppity go stay at the $300 hotels, but if you're up for adventure and down for whatever spend your money out on the town and stay at the Main its a funky place!
Nothing we liked it for what it was
