Great little hotel/ hostel on the edge of downtown! Downtown is really coming alive these days with great bars and restaurants lots of shopping near by a swell with great transport links! Breakfast was a nice little extra aswell, great value for money! Would love to stay again
The taxi driver from the bus stop tried to tell us the hotel was really bad and to go elsewhere as the area was bad! This is an old view of downtown, the are behind the hotel might not be the best but u have no reason to be there! Downtown is a must and the hotel is great!
Good position, very central Good facilities at the ground floor Helpful staff
Very noisy during the night, probably because of the showers or hot water system Poor shared bathroom and shower Very small double rooms
Price was reasonable. Staff friendly, small fitness area & breakfast included. Comfortable bed. Good for one person. Located close to most downtown site. Shuttle service available for nominal price.
Pay attention to your personal security. Doors need to be locked with all 4 locks. Homeless shake the doors for a place to stay in the middle of the night. Not a full size bath, sink & only mirror in shower stall. Small space for 2 people.
entrance hall looks nice
terrrible breakfast - do NOT pay extra for this avoid shared facilities - it's DIRTY (probably not the hotel's fault - the other residents are mostly boozy kids peeing all over the toilet floor) boozy kids which are VERY NOISY at 4am
My gf and I came to LA to see a show at Exchange Nightclub, didn't want to spend 300 on a hotel but just wanted a room that gave us privacy and got the job done. The place has great character and we loved the noon check out. bathrooms were just a few doors down the hall, no problem. Fun lobby with ping pong and a recreational room for people to hang out in. If you're high maintenance and uppity go stay at the $300 hotels, but if you're up for adventure and down for whatever spend your money out on the town and stay at the Main its a funky place!
Nothing we liked it for what it was
The location was perfect for the race I was gonna run.
The photos are nothing at all like the rooms. The walls are cement painted in brown paint. The screen in the window was partially hanging out. The homeless outside and the fact that police were in the lobby when we showed up was very concerning. There was no where to park. And The listing for the room said there would be carpet, a shower and a tub, Hair dryer, bright room, ipod doc, usb connectors None of this is true. It had a bed a sink that was detaching, itself from the wall and a shelf that was falling off the wall. Do not stay here
And they let us take our bikes upstairs
Good location, but be careful after dark (a lot of homeless people) 8 computers for free use in the lobby. Common kitchen (Room 533) with electric cooking-plates, 2 water-heaters, a toast-oven and a micro-oven (also a fridge with ice/water-machine). Bring your own glass/plates + knife/fork/spoon - you'll only find cooking utensils. I got a room exactly as the photo (Queen-bed room with shared facilities).
If you are a light sleeper, bring ear-plugs!!! It seems like 7th/Main street are a favorite route for ambulances, and you can expect to be woken up 4-8 times/night... The room will be hot during summer: only 77F (25'C) outside/daytime when I visited LA, and then the room was also a little hot... You will not let you check-in early (like other hotels): They will only tell you that check-in start from 3 PM... Only 3 toilets/2 showers per floor! Tip: use the toilets at the stairs - it's a lot bigger if you get claustrophobic, and it's also less used than the other 2...
Our room's floor was filthy.
Location was good, 20 min. walk to Union station. The area was OK, i've read comments about the area's safety, homeless etc..which was not true. We arrived by walking at night (11pm) and left early by walking (6am) in the morning and had no issue. Restaurant can coffee shops can be found around the hotel. Beds were soft and comfortable. Internet speed was OK. If you're looking for reasonable short-term (1 or 2 days) accommodation in downtown, this hotel can be an option.
Rooms are small, isolation was not good that elevator's motor noise could be heard in the room. Ask for quiet room if you're sensitive to sound. We asked to get early breakfast @6 but was refused, no flexibility.
exl location user friendly frontdesk ideal plac e to stay in all respect
Right in the middle of downtown, close to metro. Room was great, Shared facilities were fine! Toilet and shower all worked well, lovely lobby and perfect for getting around downtown.
-Hotel isn't far from great spots like Little Tokyo and Staples Center. -Lobby is gorgeous. Has computers, ping pong table, basic gym, complimentary breakfast, valet parking ($10+parking)
-The rooms do NOT look like the ones on the site. The lobby is stunning but don't let it fool you. We booked a private queen room with private bathroom. The room is very small, sporting only a (stiff) bed and a mounted tv. That's about it. The shower isn't cordoned off, instead theres a drain in the floor and a curtain that "sections" off the shower (think hospital showers) -No free parking (there's a lot next to the hotel, it's $6 for the day, or $15 for all day+overnight until 12am with the option to leave and park again later) -There is a $50 deposit that they say is refunded UPON checkout, but they actually refund it between 3-10 business days (I checked out on a Sunday, got my deposit back on Friday)
Very Friendly helpful staff, Clean, Quite, Nice lobby, Good WiFi
The hotel situated right at the downtown. The metro station not far away which is good. Shops and restaurants not far away either.
- Noise from the street all night long. - no air-conditioning! - the breakfast is a joke!
no ac in a room old restroom in a room
Shared small bathrooms + toilets, no aircondition on rooms due to this i did not sleep well, noise from the street, terrible breakfast, poor condition of bed
Price although would rather pay an extra 100$ at different hotel if it had A/C.
Had to sleep with no blankets and a wet towel covering my body so I could stay semi comfortable. Room was 80+ degrees throughout night. Took us 40 minutes to check in!!!! Took between 10-15 mins per customer to check in.
It's in a very noisy location and in addition the rooms are impossible to sleep because of outer noise...The breakfast was poor...
Front Desk employees I feel unwelcome and they are not so helpfull regarding guests needs
Simple, straightforward hotel.
Architecture, cleanliness, hospitality, amenities.
Rates going up. Free breakfast should include NON-gluten items.
Perfect location, nice lobby, gym and personal "cinema"
no fridge in room
tiny dark room without window very loud dirty bathrooms (shared)
