The downside now --Marriott chose to use full size beds which seem amazingly small, especially in a room this big...or when you sleep in them. And really, let's get a new tv. This 25" tube is not watchable by today's standards. Also, and they can't fix this, the exterior corridors let you know this place is from an era gone by. But try to think that the age is part of the charm. It's expensive for what it is, but I go back to location and room size, and would stay here again, over the Evergreen.
There are two places to stay inside Stone Mountain Park. Evergreen Resort is what you would expect from a Marriott conference hotel. The Stone Mountain Inn is not. But here's the thing..if you are at the park with your family, especially kids, this is the one I recommend. The location is perfect, within easy walking distance to all the attractions. Park your car and leave it. Also, the rooms are huge. We stayed in a room that could have easily had two king beds in it, plus the sleeper sofa. In the right mix, six people could stay in this room. Breakfast in the restaurant was good. Everything is clean and works, and the staff is Marriott.
