The staff was very friendly, and had great recommendations for dinner and leisure in the area.
The bed was comfortable
Ants in the room Walls were paper thin People running around and yelling until 3 in the morning (got no sleep).
Loved the rustic feel, the fireplace, etc. felt like home.
Our reservation was not found when we arrived. We had to take a different room and i had to sleep on the floor. Kitchen was closed due to a fire so breakfast was subpar. From our room we could hear the guests next to us even though they were talking at low volume.
Bed was reasonably comfortable.
No dining room which was an unpleasant surprise. Paper thin walls.Very stained carpeting which was gross. Basically this hotel is a last resort for skiing at Stratton Mt.
The location can't be beat. It's a cool old property that looks like it has seen better days but it was warm and spacious and we were all comfortable. For the price we were able to stay one night (the resort at Stratton wouldn't let us book just an overnight), with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Pretty good!
Well, one of the toilets was broken and the whole place really is in need of an overhaul.
This place is a complete dump. I would not recommend it to anyone. The building is run down, and unclean. It was loud and uncomfortable. We slept in our clothes because the bed sheets looked dirty. There was no wireless as advertised. And the included continental breakfast was burnt toast and noting else.
Closeness to Stratton mountain
Restaurant/lounge 'twas not advertised being closed Rug in our room was wet, left room smelling musty Faucet in the shower leaked all the time
The hotel advertised a restaurant and made to order breakfast included in the room fee. The restaurant was never open and the made to order breakfast was cold bagels on a plate on the check-in desk. Our room also did not have wifi access as stated on the website.
Close to Stratton mountain & my bed was comfortable..
Everything else! Completely false advertising!!! The hotel does not have a restaurant or tavern. It also did not include breakfast. I never spoke with one staff member & they did not seem to care about that.
Fireplace in room.
Entire property is shabby at best. The restaurant and tavern were closed for the season due to a fire and no notification of this was provided until our arrival.
We do not recommend this place. They charge top dollar for a run down farm house and disorganized staff. The owner Eric is never there and can't be reached. The young kids running the place are hard to find as well. There was not enough hot water for showers after a day of skiing. They had been a fire in the restaurant and tavern but we were not told about that at all. The meager breakfast items- orange juice and bread items - were out in the open with no refrigeration all day long in a back room with windows for the public to see. There is no refrigerator. The place smelled like a recent fire. Rooms do not have microwaves, refrigerators. No ice is available. It is run down and lacks adequate personal. We lugged all our stuff up to the second floor and then the young man sitting there asked if he could help us after we were done moving our skis and bags upstairs.
See above. The only good things were the location and the potential of this old farmhouse. As is it was not a stay I would ever recommend. They charged top dollar and delivered nothing. Not enough hot water , no service, absentee manager. Breakfast was poor .restaurant had had a fire but they did not tell us that. We asked to be reimbursed but got no answer. Horrible experience.
Only the location to the mountain
The place is run down. They had a fire so there is no tavern and they neglected to tell us that prior to arrival. The closest place to eat is miles away and small children prefer not to travel. Also as of yet they have not refunded me the two nights that I did not stay. It doesn't look anything like the website pictures.
We got an email of a 'forced cancellation' 4 days prior to our booked date that we booked over a month in advance. Not to mention it was holiday weekend so we did not have time to book anywhere else. Ruined our entire weekend, poorly handled and we still have calls and emails that are unanswered-terrible way to conduct business.
friendly staff great bar great food close to hill
to much money for that room
The manager was a charming Argentinian woman who apologized profusely for the lack of heat, no additional blankets, blown fuses, lack of light, tv etc.
About everything else. Cleanliness, no heat (had to sleep in long underwear, flannel pajamas and fleece vest.
Love the rustic charm and the style of the house and its unique rooms and feel. Fire place and bar--Perfect! Staff was friendly.
Bedspread had burn holes in it and was stained! Toilet paper was like sand paper--Really :-(? No small shampoo bottles in bathroom, no tissues in room. Breakfast at 8am?(most are up and gone by then, coffee should be available by 6:30 am minimum) Coffee was absolutely retched, limited coffee amenities (honey, milk, bigger cups, spoons. Breakfast: eggs were shivering on my plate with semi done bacon(We went down the road the next day to pay for breakfast because of experience morning before even though included in price ). We wanted to have dinner at the Inn but the breakfast experience scared us away.
Convenient, reasonably- priced location to Startton Mountain. Large rooms, working fireplace, nice restaurant and bar on site, comfortable bed, on-site parking.
Staff were not always available; front desk often unmanned. They did not monitor other guests' behavior or intervene when needed. No phones in the room to contact hotel staff with issues of concern. Rooms could use some serious repair and updating. "Included" breakfast rather sparse. Bathroom amenities were lacking.
The proximity to Stratton Mountain was great.
The room was worn down, an empty froot loop cereal container was near my childs bed...not cleaned properly. The hot water turned cold during my daughter's shower and never came back. Breakfast was minimal at best. The truly best part was being at the base of Stratton Mountain. This seems to be a one man show...reception, cook, and cleaner...nothing is done on a level that is recommended. This was holiday peek time. I expected more. The prices were at a level that we should have had a better experience. Not a motel, side of the road establishment. It could be so much better.
Location and space were convenient
Facilities are a bit old
We had booked two rooms, which I had confirmed with the owner the day before. When we arrived, the desk clerk had only one room booked for us. After much discussion (they wanted to add an inflatable bed to our small room for our daughter) they gave us another room for the night, which happened to be a king, then tried to charge us more, which we declined. The inn is historic, but unfortunately so were the furnishings. The last time the rooms had seen a renovation was about 1970. The carpet was stained, the furniture scratched and missing knobs, the bathroom....ancient (but not in a quaint way) Our room had NO HEAT, and it was -15 outside. There was a small space heater running, but the inside temp was 52 degrees. At 1:30 AM, my husband went to the front desk to complain about the heat, and returned with....a second space heater! We were up for another hour due to people running around in the room above us. Our daughter, in the king room, was kept awake by her snoring neighbor. In the morning, we went into the dining room for breakfast, where water was pouring in from the roof. You couldn't make this up if you tried! All in all, the place is a dump and needs major renovation. How this place earned 4 stars on booking.com is a mystery. We give it ZERO.
We had to have our room cleaned twice and it was still filthy. There web site had beautiful pictures of all the rooms and inn, that was not the case. Worst service and place I ever stayed!!!!!
Friendly innkeeper, good location, included breakfast
Old facilities (bathrooms from 1970s), weird decor, very quiet/deserted feeling mid-week and off-season
