We only have experience of one room, 35, which is on the top floor. There is no lift and the second staircase is not an easy one. There was no offer of help with luggage.
The room itself was unheated when we arrived and we had travelled through a little snow on route to North Conway. There are radiators but they, as we were told by the duty manager, are more for show, so a wall heater is available instead, which she found impossible to get to work until taking further instruction herself. It proved to be very noisy. There is a fireplace but it gave out no real heat, it too being more for show. The second day after talking to another member of staff we did return to a warm room because the fan had been on in our absence. The hotel does seem to have repeat visitors, so knowledge of individual rooms must be an especially important factor with regard to this hotel.
The food was consistently good, representing a great variety of local fare, very well cooked and presented. The ambiance in the lounge and bar was very convivial prior to dinner.
