Needed upgraded, felt tired and run down

The hotel is close to the Powell Street bart Station

Room was very small and there was no way to control the temperature. It was a hot night, and even though there were three huge central air conditioning compressors grinding away right outside the window, no air was reaching my room. The window did open, but the noise from the compressors made this not an option. The sink faces the bed (there is no sink in the bathroom), and the small tv is up above this, at the ceiling, so it felt like the whole room was a bathroom or hospital room. Could have done better for $224 a night.

Friendly service, central location, very clean, everything worked well and my needs were accommodated. It's definitely not a luxury hotel, but you're not in San Francisco to sit in your hotel room.

Just be aware that rooms are very small, hallways are very narrow, and there is no fitness center, business center, etc. This is a bare bones operation, but it passes all my necessity tests of cleanliness and functionality.

Location is excellent, within a walking distance to city transportion of any kind, to shopping.

Fantastic location with access to cable cars, MUNI, and BART. Staff members were youthful and friendly. Free, fast WiFi. Free breakfast. Clean room. Decent bed with soft, clean sheets. Plenty of towels with creative folding; premium shampoo and conditioner. High floor room in back was quiet--glad I didn't have a front-facing room!

Low water pressure and temperature in shower. Single, slow elevator. No air conditioning; window opens just a crack. Hard to reach ceiling fan. Hard to sit at desk, as no space between chair and bed. Single functioning bed light hard to reach. No pop or ice machine that I saw, maybe there is one somewhere?

Just off Union Square, close to Market Street and right on two cable car routes; a good location for getting about the city. Realtively inexpensive with no frills comfort.

Poor lighting. Poor ventilation. A lukewarm shower. Probably a bit too noisy (Powell Street and the cable cars) for a light sleeper.

This was my 2nd stay at the hotel, the last being one year ago. At that time I gave it a rating of 7/10. This time I'll up it to 8/10. My rating is based on similar properties that offer good value for the price. The rooms are a good size and clean. The property is centrally located in the Union Square area and public transportation is within walking distance - the cable cars stop right outside the front door. Kudos to the front desk staff, especially Jason.

The Stratford now advertises itself as a boutique hotel and is part of the C/one properties. This can only mean that the prices are going to increase.

It was clean, inexpensive, and located close to the Moscone Center and Union Square.

My room was tiny. There is only one ice machine in the building.

Price was too high (we paid more than 200USD per night) for that kind of hotel. Room and bath were very small. Poor breakfast (nothing hot but the coffee).

The location in the city

I was told a private car park was available at 35$ per day, but this is not true as you have to go to public carpark

location great. can walk from BART station. lots of restaurans etc. street car leaves from outside to fishermans warf. staff arranged a hotel shuttle for me.

Location, location, location, right on the cable car route, a block from Union Square and the Geary Street crosstown bus, two blocks from Market Street. Couldn't be better. Room quiet, bed comfortable, breakfast simple but pleasant, all staff cheerful and helpful.

Very good location. Good value for money considering San Francisco hotel rates.

Very slow lift. Room rather small and furnishings somewhat basic, and wasn't as good as the impression given by photo on booking.com.

Clean, convenient with obliging staff. Good value for money.

Could be noisy at times in front rooms and slow in lift at peak times, but what would you pay to avoid these minor issues.

Commendations to the manager, Jimmy at the time we checked in. He averted an otherwise stressful 1st day there by upgrading our room. Kudos to him!

There is only 1 valet space for the car and it wasnt't empty when we arrived because a truck was parked there. The hotel was right beside the cable car line so stopping there was a big problem.

Really I had low expectation of this place and was pleasantly surprised! I would stay again and would tell others to stay. This place is comfortable, very clean and you can not beat this location! Staff are pleasant :-)

A little small but really I didn't mind. Everything else is perfect and we only used the room to sleep.

Elevator a little slow, isn't an issue until the rush hour.

Awesome location, right in the middle of SF. Cable car stop out the front of the hotel making it easy to get around. Good food, bars, shopping, everything in walking distance. Staff very helpful. Even walked to fishermans wharf on day (half hour). Couldn't be happier.

The location. The hotel was pretty clean and the facilities worth the price.

The breakfast was really basic. Better going to have it somewhere else.
