The hotel has a very good location and it was very clean. Overall good value for money. We had a problem with the heater (the radiator was leaking) and it was duly fixed by the staff. The standard room is rather small. We are a mature couple traveling with two medium-size suitcases, which we had difficulties to place in the room. The complimentary breakfast is very limited.

The hotel is situated 2 blocks away for the Powell Street Muni Metro/Bart station with the cable cars passing in front of it and the Union Square just around the corner. The location is fantastic for travelling around in the city. I was given a standard room (facing the inneryard) with a double bed upon arrival and the room size was adequate. It was ensuite with toilet and bath facilities and basic toilet amenities were provided. The room was clean and serviced everyday and there was a TV with the standard channels. There was also a ceiling fan in the room beside the heater. The breakfast provided was basic but adequate for the price paid. Overall, the stay was a pleasant one. Improvements could be made for the breakfast provided as there was only bread/toast, muffins and cereals with coffee/tea/juice. The internet access/wi-fi were not complementary.

They charged my credit card for 2000$ instead of 200$. After they did this mistake they were also not helpful in trying to solve this issue. I had to have a long argument before getting everything set.

The breakfast vas very poor, almost only a coffe and some muffines. This is not acceptable from this category. The parking lot price was not told in advance.

Excellent location. Room and breakfast were basic but served the purpose. Clean rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Location makes this hotel a great choice for a trip to San Francisco.

Service was excellent. Check-in was quick and fuss-free. Bart Powell was closed down due to hacking/protests, and I needed a transport to the airport immediately. Desk staff immediately called up 2 companies for me to choose from, and I made it to the airport with time to spare. This is not the hotel to choose if you are noise-averse. It's right in the middle of the where everything is, so some noise is to be expected. It doesn't make it a bad hotel, just that people who book it need to be aware of what they are signing up for. If you want easy access to everything, this is a great place to stay.

It was comfortable, so close to all the nearby city experiences, and the staff were always willing to help. The sink for the bathroom was in the main bedroom, that was a bit weird, but apart from that, happy.

Superb location close to all transport shops and sights to see. I also found the staff to be friendly and helpful . The mattress in room 710 leans towards the door. It needs to be flipped and rotated! It would be helpful to have a room safe and coffee-making facilities.

Location to Union Square and excellent free WIFI that was good with good coverage. Value for money in good location. Extremely basic breakfast, the room whilst very tidy was lacking some key essentials i.e. fridge, safe.

Location was fabulous, out of the front door and on to the main street for shopping, bars and the cable car/tram. The staff are extremely helpful and hospitable, always up for a chat. Rooms are a little small but as holiday makers we were only in there to shower and sleep. We have stayed here when ever we have come to San Fran and recommended it to many friends who have stayed here too. Great place! Our only complaint would be the lift, its a little slow to get to the eighth floor but taking the stairs was great exercise.

Extremely good location. You can not imagine it better, if you want to explore the city and be in the middle of life. Very friendly and helpfull personnel. Despite we asked the quiet room, we were given a room facing the street with all the noise. The rooms are very very basic and small. I thought that a room with 2 double beds would be bigger, however, they put 2 beds in the same room-size. So we could not really squeze the suit case somewhere in the room....

The locations I s great. Very close to the Bart and shopping. Right in the middle of Union Square. The room was very small and hot. We had 2 twin beds and no air conditioning. The heater pipe in the closet was on all the time making this small room stiffling even with the window open. The continental breakfast is very sparce. Toast, muffins, juice. The elevator is very slow as well. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable. The shower was extrememly small. In the bathroom there was a drain that was a tripping hazard which I tripped on several times.

The Stratford Hotel is a hidden treasure. The rooms are "no frills" but they are immaculate and the towels are luxurious. It is about 100 feet from Union Square so it's location is ideal. The staff were helpful and friendly. Be sure to ask the front desk for the discounts they have for various sights/tours. For Example if they book a city tour for you, you save $7pp.

The location was excellent. It was at a safe part of union. I definitely had a city feel at this hotel. The bathroom and room is cleaner and better looking in person than in pics depicted in photos on Expedia, booking.com and travel advisor. The staff was patient and helpful, and I totally recommend the hotel room. It's not a wow hotel, but you definitely get your pennies worth more so that I actually took the time to write a review. No gym, no pool. Not crowded but not spacious. It's a very simple hotel with no wow factor. However these complaints are very minor.

Location, location, location. The Stratford is central to everything you'll need in San Francisco; food, shopping, bars, etc. No air conditioning!!! For this trip that was fine because it was during the Winter time but man, I can not imagine what it must be like to stay in one of those incredibly tiny rooms in the Summer Time. I will most definitely not be doing that. Also, if you plan on spending a lot of time in your room this probably isn't the place for you. The rooms are insanely tiny. I'd say they're less than 100 sq. Ft. The bathroom is half the size of the room. The room was comfortable and nice but when I say the room is tiny...well, you won't believe it until you step foot inside.

I liked the location and comfort. You don't need a car in San Francisco; there are cable car (in front of the hotel), bus, and bart close to the hotel. Breakfast.
