Hotel manager Bernadette is just fabulous. Very quaint , private and quiet stay.
That I didn't stay longer
I liked that it was close enough to walk to my friends apartment who is suffering from Cancer. I was in the area specifically to visit her and just wanted to get a room somewhere close. I also thought the price was good. And it had some charm. Interesting architectural details. I had my own bathroom which is good.
My room was on the top of a 4 floor walk up so it was hard to carry my bag up it. The bed was ok, but way too soft for my personal liking. It was kind of loud and being a B&B not as private feeling as a standard room.
The staff especially were just great. So helpful. The room was wonderful and the bed was so comfy. My husband and I both managed to get sick whilst in NYC but so we unfortunately spent a lot of time in the room! But we couldn't have asked for a better place. I know a few people complained about the code to get in, but it wasn't rocket science. Enter the code, unlock the door. Done. :)
Decoration and furniture
Stairs, very poor wifi, room not perfectly kept
This was my first time at a B&B it was great. I have no complaints well maybe one. There was a cat downstairs sitting in a chair (my partner suffers from allergies). Luckily she had no reaction. The space cleanliness was great. The bed oh my goodness extremely comfortable. Everything we need was right there.
Sugar Hill Harlem Inn made for a relaxing romantic weekend....
Me and my husband loved the bed
But we didn't like the location it was on a hill, the place look like apartments so it made it very hard to find, and we got hoodwinked on the price
The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The manager was very hospitable. Even when we arrived at 11:30 to a locked door and she was awakened out of her sleep, she was gracious. The neighborhood was safe and clean. Beyond a few ambulance sirens, it was very quiet at night.
The stairs - if a guest has any mobility issues, this is probably not the place for you. Make sure you read the fees and tax information, we were a bit confused by the invoice mailed by bnb...which indicated total cost in bold print, and "not including..." in much smaller print. Parking was difficult..so it is best to rely on public transportation. ...was a bit offended by the "mammy" caricature plaques that decorated the wall of the owner's reception area, but didn't take the time to mention it...
Liked the cat The building was lovely
Need to update pictures, as it didn't look anything like what we've seen, Internet was really rubbish Jeremy came across rather condesending
The room was very comfortable. Nice big bathroom.
A little out of the way.
Nice location in Harlem, a great area to explore in the weekend.
There was an extra fee (service..?) not included in the original price that they asked us to pay...
Friendly, comfortable, huge room for the price.
Bit of a walk to the subway but it was my choice. Could have taken the bus that was much closer.
-$50 extra+over tax. -not clean. -not same as photo. On 25 July we book there when we reach three they got $50 very simple (regardless tax) they shift us to another guesthouse next building –not clean very old style. When I checked they said no space. There have just doing business to take 50 dollar and shift u to next gest house which is not same as they shows here in booking.com I shocked how they got this rate review? Probably cheating.
The property is a nicely renovated brownstone in the regentrified West Harlem area. Its obviously well located if you have business in that part of town. The renovation is done with taste and I found the beds comfortable and the room size very agreeable.
Parking can be a challenge if you are trying to find a space at night.
Homey relaxed atmosphere. Convenient room with small kitchen for ability to cook
Common areas were a bit 'messy', like being in someone's private home.
I loved the amount of space, and everything that we had available to us. And the bus line we needed to go to Randalls Island was about a block away.
The accomodation was perfect! - large room with large bed, nice and clean bathroom - fridge, plates etc included - quite a good location to get to the midtown Manhatton. - calm area, walking distance to the subway - Jeremy (the owner) was really nice - we got a long list with tips what to do in the NYC prior to our arrival, really helpful
We were in the 3rd floor and the wifi didnt work very well there. However it worked at the ground floor. Please note the payment is done at the arrival
Staff were amazing. The room was a lot bigger than I expected. Lovely place and would definitely stay again
Great host with lots of knowledge. Subway was only a 5 min walk away. Bed was very comfortable. Great value for money.
The noise from the street outside. Window is permanently open due to a/c unit.
The hotel is very clean and comfort. The location are very nice, only about 6 minutes walk to the subway station. Jeremy is a great guy. Our flight was at midnight but he allowed us to store our luggages at the hotel. Overall very great!
There was nothing that we dislike.
Very nice room plenty of room. Owner had left suggestions on things to do and see in the area
Owner had very strong political and social views and we felt these were forced down your troath. It also appeared that the B and B was not a legal establishment and notes were left not to allow police entre the building
Many good hints from Bernadette and before via Mail from Jeremy. The breakfast was great ,too.thx !
Gorgeous room, great breakfast, very clean, quiet and safe area, great restaurants and bars nearby, easy to get to downtown Manhattan.
The owner is very nice and accommodating, but a bit extreme is his views of the world which he is very keen to discuss at all times.
We liked the place, our room was nice and clean, the bath was huge. Neibourhood is relly calm. Subway station is in 5-7 minutes walk.
the house is beautiful, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel at home instantly. Compared to any of the downtown hotels you get a vast amount of space for your money too. It was nice to stay in a part of town that you might not otherwise explore, but at the same time the nearby subway lines mean it is only a short ride to downtown Manhattan. I enjoyed the guide that was left in my room too!
The beds were very good and the rooms are quit. So you can get a good night sleep. There are very nice restaurants in the neighbourhood. The owner of the B&B makes a different breakfast every day
