The hotel hallway had a fishy smell from the grocery store below it, but it wasn't noticeable in our room, the dining area, or the lobby.
Free breakfast was great. Not too far from subway station.
The staff was not friendly and the smell was something since we stepped in the elevators. I expected more for the money I paid
The lobby and elevator had a constant fish smell.
The elevators smelled really bad. Coffee pot didn't work.
Location to metro and as such to the city was great. Easy to find. Breakfast was decent. Would have been great even for more than overnight
Large room impeccably clean great breakfast
The surrounding fish markets smell follows you into the hotel. Don't know how this could be avoided, but, it can be overlooked once you are in your room.
Polite and Accommodating staff; pristine care to every detail in the hotel. Breakfast facility was kept clean and stocked with detail to sanitation.
The smell of the lobby and elevator due to fish store. Only 3 bath towel each night even if we were 4 peoples in the room.
Breakfast was very good. Room was clean and confortable.
Check in The smell in the lobby The smell in the first floor The very short supply for breakfast The smell in the dinning room No value for my money It was my 6th hotel in a 22 days vacation in L.A, HUSTON, VANCOUVER, SANTA BARBARA, MONTEREY, SAN SIMEON. No doubt the most expensive and the worst in any aspect of what one can expect from an american hotel.
The cleaning stuff was ok
Fishy smell in the lobby, elevator and stairs (there is a chinese sea food store in the same building)
Great breakfast, super comfortable beds, good location
The smell at the Hotel is a turn off. Not only the fish market you can smell from the lobby, but the air quality in the rooms smelled like dirty shoes. Which got better when you turned the fan in the room on.
Friendly staff. Novel part of town to stay. Affordable and great breakfast buffet!
The elevator had a really bad smell... The heater, you either had to leave it at 80 degree or it would blow cold air only. Freez or melt type of situation. Everyone was super friendly and professional. I would come back... Maybe.
It was great overall... Location was good. Right in Chinatown. Just take the F line subway and 20 minutes later you would end up in Times Squares. Breakfast was fulfilling!! You had access to computers and printers.
Lovely comfy bed, only a few minutes from the subway and the East River, easy to get around the city.
China town nearby, store underneath, subway 5mins away.
It is very close to an overhead train or subway line. You can hear the trains whizzing by at night. Minor inconvenience, not a deal breaker.
This hotel was spotlessly clean. The continental breakfast was much more than I expected - scrambled eggs, fruit, sausages, yogurt, in addition to the usual bread items. The staff were also excellent at refilling food stations during busy hours.
Room was little too small for family of 5, may me good for 3.
Breakfast was excellent
Fish smell on the first floor. Slight musty smell in guest room.
Staff from front desk to housekeeping were all very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good. Location was great for exploring beyond Times Square/Midtown.
As you enter the hotel and hallways, it smells like a chinese street food... however once you get acquainted, it is normal
hotel was a good new property with adequate rooms sizes against the NYC standards...
The fishy smell in the lobby. Water line broke and had no water. When water was turned back on, it ran dirt brown. It took about 2 hours when everything was cleared up. Staff did everything they could to help out.
Very clean and staff very nice and helpful.
- only a small deposit box at the reception - hot breakfast assortment was poor - no option to check-out one hour after the regular check-out time - no response to the requests sent via booking.com
Breakfast on paper plates/ plastic cutlery was a bit poor.
Good location for China Town and Little Italy.
The comfort of the beds were unbelievably comfortable! Location suited my needs as most time is spent down near lower east side. Parking garage nearby. Complimentary breakfast offered more than typically expected. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would consider staying at Fairfield Inn again during future visits.
Advice given by staff was varied in quality - we don't think that one particular member of staff gave us the best advice on our first night as to where to eat which was quite annoying the next day once we realised. The same staff member also didn't appear incredibly knowledgeable about how to get to JFK on the subway, but when we double checked with another staff member we got better advice. Wish we had been able to ask him on our first night as to where to eat! We arrived at night with most restaurants in the neighbouring streets about to close when we tried to find somewhere to eat around 9pm, but would recommend to anyone else in the same position to try and head for Little Italy rather than stay in the immediate area. Being a bit nit-picky, we also found it a bit strange that breakfast was served on polystyrene plates and plastic knives and forks!
Hotel itself was nice - comfortable, clean, secure and close to the subway. Would probably try to stay somewhere located a little further uptown next time we come to New York, but having said that, hotel was really well priced and had a good stay there. Staff friendly and welcoming.
