Score from 2234 reviews Very good
Free wifi, personal rooms, private shared bathrooms, close to subway and Brooklyn, fresh linens and towels, 1st floor was easy to access, candy available for purchase, 24-hour customer service desk
Homeless people in the stairwell
The location was good in downtown NY, close to three different subway lines. The bathrooms were clean most of the time.
The room was very small, just bigger than a queen bed, with no window and no ventilation, so it became hot and stayed hot. There were no facilities other than a urn - no table, no cups, no drinking water tap. (By the way, the photo of the building is not the actual building - it is a small building in the middle of a block, not on a corner!)
This hotel is cheap for NY and well located with easy access to subway trains
But it's not a comfortable hotel, wifi is only one the 2nd floor my my room was on the 5th. There are only 3 bathroom per floor for more than 20 rooms.
location is great, price is fair
no elevator, poor interior, bad facilities
The room was tiny, like a prison cell. It was the first place I've stayed in, in America, but I have traveled in Europe and Asia and found the hostels which were far cheaper provided a larger space (for 12 people), did not smell as bad and did not make me feel like I was in a third world country. The toilet had water dripping from the exposed pipes in the roof. Most of the toilets were out of order and there was foul smelling water all over the ground. WiFi wasn't working when I was there and you can hear everything your neighbours are doing from unzipping their pants to going to bed.
I dislike tjia hotel
dirty Rooms are the smallest i have seen ever Beds are horrible don't go there
24 hour unfettered check in
Roaches in the shower
The dozen of cockroaches jumping on my bed
You wanna feel what's like to be in jail?? this is the right place. Real experience! The warst place I have ever been... no words...
Bed wasn't stiff
TV didn't work at all. Noisy neighbors. Rude staff. Dirty curtains and sheets.
The price and location were very good.
The toilets were filthy.
The rooms has a towel, toothpaste, soap, duvet and pillow. Staff is friendly and helpful and the location is close to many attractions.
The rooms are advertised "with free wifi", the signal was so weak I had to go 3 floors down to reception and sit next to the desk to use this "free wifi". The bathrooms are a mess, and I'm not talking about mess created by sharing with others (staff mopped regularly), the floors are wet everywhere from leaking pipes in the ceilings, no place to put your dry clothes apart from a door hook if you are lucky. Drops fall on your head as you use the toilet. 1 of the 4 had a toilet seat cover to use to put stuff on. There was a sign saying sorry for the inconvenience, but the bathrooms were so bad that it felt it should have been closed for restoration. The staircase is timber and is close to collapsing causing serious injury. I found a tick in my bed and a serious spider bite that left me transported to a medical center for emergency medical care. Massive medical bills They say you get what you pay for but I'm sure your health is worth a few dollars more.
Only one staff member out of five that I encounter cared about offering customer service. He apologize for the inconvenience and offered concession where the service was lacking
Three out of the five people that I encounter didn't car about whether the bathrooms were clean or that the WI-FI didn't work or that there were 2 channels working. The shopping network and one channel that broadcast the news. The television was on the floor, and you can hear everything on the floor in the rooms next doo.
Location is good. Staff are fine.
Toilets need quick maintenance. Rooms are too tiny. Too noisy. You can hear your neighbor farts...
im not complaining because it fits the low price and it has all u want for just sleeping...
wifi sucks... bathroom is sorta dirty and small.
The cheapest I could get. The rooms are all separate (ultra-tiny but private, thats why I actually did not mind the dormitory style). Wardrobe, light, electricity (2 sockets). Very good location (Bowery/Canal St/Grand St nearby, center). Staff was friendly and helpful enough.
Disgusting bathrooms (broken ceilings with water steadily dripping, rotten doors, clogged toilet, broken locks etc). Heavy unpleasant smell of some cleaning agents and/or disinfectants. Cockroaches (mainly in the bathrooms, but also met some in the room). The shared ceiling can be a problem (on my first night someone was laughing very loud for several hours between like 2 and 5 am). Wi-Fi was very unstable (doesn't reach well at floor 5 where the rooms are, so I didn't have it most of the time, had to go down to lobby).
Location is nice.
Room which is showing on booking time not same and very congusted room and not good space for luggage, Wash room is not good only two wash rooms on every floor and every floor have around 30 room. I am not staying next time.
There is nothing to like about this " hotel" except its Ideal location
Everything, the room is like a cell, dirty & smells like piss. The wifi is not working, the stuff is not available...
location location location
bathrooms where horible
I liked my own private space.
The chicken wire for the ceiling.
The hotel is at an excellent location, so if you're there for a short period of time, you're willing to overlook its shortcomings. The bathrooms were spotless, the rooms were small and uncomfortable. The WiFi connection was unstable, but present. If you're planning on "relaxing" and spending time in the hotel, I wouldn't recommend the place. If you're going to spend a minimum amount of time indoors, then it's worth the location and price.
Small rooms, uncomfortable bed.
