No proper ceiling, therefore can hear noises from other rooms. Very basic room - a bed, a cabinet, one fluorescent lamp, one power socket.
Strategic location, above average cleanliness

Room for single is only a cubical and no space for even a suitcase. No window and no roof to cubical. It is like a college dorm divided with temp walls and doors. If u are a casual and only want a bed to sleep, go for it

Rooms are tiny and have no windows, shared bathrooms are cleaned daily but still a mess, no elevator, fan in the room was extremely loud and thus useless.
Bedsheets and towels were clean, good WiFi, good location in Chinatown near Canal Street metro station, seems to be a safe place, staff was friendly.

There are 30 rooms and just 3 bathrooms,if you wake up at 8 you have to wait a lot!
They are nice and the subway station is relative close.

Everthing so bad

Unfortunatelly smelly. Top of the rooms are covered with wire. Clean but dirty restrooms. They clean but It gets dirty very fast. Because water drops from pipes top of restroom. And rooms are very tiny. They are about 3 square meters.
Close to Chinatown and Little Italy. Safe neighbourhood. Very cheap compared to others.

real cheap hotel room that for my experience wasn't as sketchy as other people have led on.

- Bathrooms were in terrible condition: bugs, reeking of urine, moldy/crusted over shower heads, no ceilings, stagnant water all over the floors; I preferred public restrooms... there was a sign apologizing for the state of the bathrooms and apparently it was being renovated the year I stayed (2015) - "Prison-style" floor-plan: there are about 60 small, closet-sized rooms all together on each floor with no ceilings (so you can easily hear people around you; bring earplugs); it resembles a prison or mental institution, and looks depressing (you are warned) - Bed size: I am 5'10" and my foot touched the wall at the base of the bed; the beds are small with a single mattress - Little room to put personal items (only one small cabinet, some hooks, and a small surface at the head of the bed (big luggage would be a bad idea) - No elevator (not a problem for me, but I stayed on the 5th floor, so just be prepared)
- Location, location, location: it is in the heart of Chinatown, a couple of minutes walk from the metro, within view of the Little Italy sign, surrounded by bakeries and restaurants, etc. - At least when I checked, it was the cheapest place in Manhattan by a long shot - Floors are single sex and beds are tiny, so unlike with hostels, you do not should not need to worry about late-night love making awkwardly happening in the bunk next to you - Mattresses were clean when I stayed (I had brought a sleeping bag just in case, but no signs of bed bugs so I did not use my bag) - You will spend more time enjoying NYC because you will be spending so little time here - Can store luggage for free on day you check out

The showers were disgusting, as were the toilets. The wifi was horrible, usually not working. You could hear snoring and people walking by your room very well.
I had low expectations, because of the reviews and how cheap it was. I stayed for a few days and the bed was decent, but in a room with no wall, and no solid roof, as I heard everything that went on that floor. I stayed on the fifth floor and did not encounter any bed bugs or cockroaches I heard about in past reviews. The staff was friendly, I got extra bed sheets when I asked for it.

I have definitely stayed in worse, but I would say that the rooms are not at clean as the bathrooms. I didn't feel comfortable putting anything on the shelf, because it was very dirty and dusty. The floor had probably been swet within the past few days, but had not been mopped in a long time. I would be more keen to stay there again if these things were added to the room cleaning checklist. I ended up placing my things on top of the TV, it looked like it had been wipped down regularly. There were a lot of scuff marks, stains, and spills on the walls. It was pretty gross... It would make a huge difference if the walls were clean.
There was hot water available for free in the lobby, and a cup was provided on request. After getting lost on the subway for two hours, I found the place late at night and was very thirsty so I appreciated that! The rooms are four walls, a ceiling, a bed, a fan, a shelf, and a TV. Very similar to inexpensive Chinese hotels, if you have ever stayed in one. If you need a window in your room, or fresh paint/ clean walls, this is not the place. If you need a room with a bed, I recommend it. Bathrooms were very clean.
