Owners are wonderful. They even made me a chili omelet one morning and brought it to my room. Normal breakfast is basic but adequate - cereal, juice, coffee, milk, fruit, muffins, yogurt.
It is a bit out of town but the town is so small it does not matter much anyway.
absolutely spotless; great nite's sleep; wonderful hosts! why pay more... for less??
Very Clean Wi-Fi was fast Great TV
The courtesy and the treatment I received was superb. The motel is owned by a couple, and they go out of their way for their guests. On my second stay, I was driving from Amarillo, TX and they arranged it for me to be able to get my keys even after their normal hours. The place is nice and very clean. No complaints.
There was nothing to dislike. I was pleased with all the amenities.
We had a two bedroom suite (with adjoining bedrooms) that gave us two rooms (and 3 double beds) for just about the price of one room at a comparable motel. You had to cross the first bedroom to enter the second (and share the bathroom), but that was a minor inconvenience given the significant price savings. I suspect, however, that they only have one room with that configuration, so it may (or may not) be available when you look for it.
I feel like family when we stay here. The staff are super nice and the other people in the hotel are usually friendly too! I can't think of another hotel I've stayed in where I actually meet other travelers, but something about the Sunset Motel invites people to be friendly.
Fantastic hospitality, provided terrific ideas for day trips and recommendations for interesting places to visit nearby. Really enjoyed my stay and hope to return.
The room was large, clean, and very nice! The woman who checked us in made us feel like we were old friends returning for a visit, she was so welcoming and friendly! We would definitely stay there again and recommend it.
Value, welcoming, clean.

Located at historic Route 66 this motel offers basic but absolutely sufficient accommodation. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Everything is well organized with the comfort of guests in mind. Highly recommended!
I liked that I was able to get in and out of town quickly without having to deal with the traffic and hustle of Albuquerque. We were on our way through to another place. The motel was a bit dated, but quiet, convenient and the staff was friendly. New TV, Cable, and WiFi.
The furniture, carpet and doors are very old and in need of replacement, but the beds were comfortable and clean. When we first entered the room, there was a heavy smell of cleaning chemicals, which disappeared or we got used to, as we turned on the cooler and started moving around the room.
Hospitality of the owner was wonderful.
It is an older motel but very well kept; very clean with comfortable beds; large room. I was very happy with our stay here. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Outstanding! Attention to detail, clean, modern, and pride of ownership.
What's not to like?
The owners were on-site. Parking was perfect. Great location for our destination. New mattresses.
Only that our neighbors were noisy outside on the porch. But they did quit at 10pm.
Good value, clean, friendly staff, great location on Historic Route 66, vintage furnishings(except for the new and very comfortable beds).
The carpet should probably be updated soon.
Staff was friendly, helpful and we had such at good time.
Friendly staff and clean room to sleep in after a 16 hour drive.
This place was excellent! And the owners, Kevin and Nancy, make you feel like family! They also know a lot of the history of Route 66. And the rooms were very spacious and clean! Highly recommended!
Nothing. Loved this place.
very quiet, nice simple rooms/tv, etc
no phones in the room. a/c was less than optimal(in my room, my friends did not have issues with theirs).
Poor breakfast amenities
There wasn't any wi-fi. They were rude at the front desk. The rooms were cleaned but the smell of cat was horrible
It was owner operated for over 50 years by the same family and you can tell they care about their guests. The room was vintage and lovely. Extremely clean and comfortable. We will plan our next trip around staying at the Sunset.
The ice maker was broken when we were there, but since we had a cooler with ice, we really didn't care.
A gem along Route 66. Excellent service and value. It's no wonder that so many people recommend this motel. Bravo to the owners and to the staff for making my stay so comfortable.
