The neighborhood was very quiet and the beds were very comfortable. We arrived late and left very early so was there only one short night. I would stay there again. It was a good value.
When I first saw the motel, I was concerned that I had reserved a motel that was not going to measure up. From the outside, as we arrived after dark it was not well lighted and looked a little scary.
clean, vintage, long beds, personable staff, good value
that we didn't know about it before
Trucking through - had all the needs good bed, clean, big tv and all wrapped into a upgraded retro Route 66 Motel.
Friendly helpful staff Clean comfortable room Good Value Good WiFi
Moriarty is fine as a stop over, but don't plan to spend much time there
Motel was old fashioned and a little in need of an update of furnishings.
Old time character
Room doors could have been more secure.
It was quiet and convenient. Pet friendly was a big bonus for us! Who couldn't like staying on Route 66?
Got a good solid night's sleep. Off freeway location was very quiet. Owner was very friendly. Motel had all our requirements: quiet, good beds, very clean, internet connection, free continental breakfast, micro and fridge, and value price. We would stay here again, and we highly recommend it for those who want a value priced good night's sleep, internet, and breakfast. And want to skip the cost of needless frills like pool, gym, fancy lobby. Try it, you'll like it.
Check in reception was very nice. Web site offered king size single, to find out no such thing. Settled in room 9.The stink was unbearable.Aired out the room and sprayed down with Frebrez and was able tolerate it. "Free breakfast" didn't start till 8 am. I didn't wait. Had my wife been with me, i would not have stayed.
The motel was vintage 50s/60s as advertised. However, it was upgraded to today's standards. All new plumbing in the bathroom, flat screen TV, refrigerator, new AC unit. The room was clean and odor free, large thick towels, and the beds were very comfortable. The owners were very pleasant and obviously took lots of pride in there place. Best of all, it was resonably priced; just over $60 including tax!
The owner/staff could not have been more helpful. The motel is everything you have seen in the movies when they show an American motel, especially for us from the UK. A perfect bonus for our road trip through the US and on Route 66!! What more could we ask.
This place is spotless, Beds are great, WiFi fast, owners are right there.
Small things but would help. Larger soap, soap shelf in shower/tub, better/higher seating chairs, need to replace toilet seats (clean but stained and worn under seat), touch up paint in bathroom.
Owners are wonderful. They even made me a chili omelet one morning and brought it to my room. Normal breakfast is basic but adequate - cereal, juice, coffee, milk, fruit, muffins, yogurt.
It is a bit out of town but the town is so small it does not matter much anyway.
absolutely spotless; great nite's sleep; wonderful hosts! why pay more... for less??
Very Clean Wi-Fi was fast Great TV
Easy to make reservation. Check in quick. Very clean. Heat worked great on Sept 14. Quiet. Nice TV.
Too many channels on TV. Usually there are only a few channels, with nothing to watch. Lots and lots of channels, making it hard to find something to watch. I`d like to skip channels that aren`t available.
The courtesy and the treatment I received was superb. The motel is owned by a couple, and they go out of their way for their guests. On my second stay, I was driving from Amarillo, TX and they arranged it for me to be able to get my keys even after their normal hours. The place is nice and very clean. No complaints.
There was nothing to dislike. I was pleased with all the amenities.
We had a two bedroom suite (with adjoining bedrooms) that gave us two rooms (and 3 double beds) for just about the price of one room at a comparable motel. You had to cross the first bedroom to enter the second (and share the bathroom), but that was a minor inconvenience given the significant price savings. I suspect, however, that they only have one room with that configuration, so it may (or may not) be available when you look for it.
I feel like family when we stay here. The staff are super nice and the other people in the hotel are usually friendly too! I can't think of another hotel I've stayed in where I actually meet other travelers, but something about the Sunset Motel invites people to be friendly.
Fantastic hospitality, provided terrific ideas for day trips and recommendations for interesting places to visit nearby. Really enjoyed my stay and hope to return.
The room was large, clean, and very nice! The woman who checked us in made us feel like we were old friends returning for a visit, she was so welcoming and friendly! We would definitely stay there again and recommend it.
Value, welcoming, clean.

Located at historic Route 66 this motel offers basic but absolutely sufficient accommodation. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Everything is well organized with the comfort of guests in mind. Highly recommended!
I liked that I was able to get in and out of town quickly without having to deal with the traffic and hustle of Albuquerque. We were on our way through to another place. The motel was a bit dated, but quiet, convenient and the staff was friendly. New TV, Cable, and WiFi.
The furniture, carpet and doors are very old and in need of replacement, but the beds were comfortable and clean. When we first entered the room, there was a heavy smell of cleaning chemicals, which disappeared or we got used to, as we turned on the cooler and started moving around the room.
