Surf Villa Hotel  

The manager was very courteous, and 'sort-of-looked-out for me"--as that I was alone--basically--I was at OC because my 18 yr. old son was visiting for: "Senior Beach Week". The house-keeping staff were very cordial and got things I asked for--without hesitation. I felt safe and very comfortable. Easy to get to the beach. Had a nice time. I'd visit there again, without a doubt. A+

Loved the staff-very friendly. The corner reom I had was very light and cheerful. View of ocean. Excellent value for the money.

My bed was very clean and comfortable. Parking was available so I was able to leave my car and walk, or take public transportation where ever I needed to go. Good proximity to boardwalk and beach. Friendly staff. Not a five star hotel but it was clean and I felt safe! Good value for such a busy festival weekend. If you are just looking for a place to sleep, shower, and change clothes, Surf Villa will meet your needs.

Overpowering odor of scented lysol in the common areas. Unable to open windows in room. TV was mounted too high for comfortable viewing.

If the rooms were a little bit roomier, it would've been nice but it was a rustic place.

One block away from the boardwalk. it was located at Baltimore ave and 8th st. easy to walk to restaurants and stores.

the hotel smelled overly bleached!!!! as if trying to prove the cleanliness of the hotel. yes it looked clean and everything but the smell of bleach was overpowering!!!!! the room was only worth the price because of its location so close to the beach. the size of the room is just as big as my bedroom (including the 3x5 bathroom).

Nothing. Will never stay here again, look absolutely nothing like the pictured online. Such a let down, there's windows with boards behind it, dirty floors, stains on bedspread, creepy and run down. Do not waste money on a aparentmnt here

Parking was limited, but overflow was only a block away. Corridors had a strange odor.

Nothing! The advertisement makes this place seem as if it's a must stay place. Honestly, I have never in my life until Surf Villa, have I stayed at one of the most disgusting, smelly, 100% roach motel looking dumps such as Surf Villa.

1.There is no Wi-Fi ! They advertise that they have Wi-Fi , but it doesn't work. 2. No Iron 3. No room phone 4. Old Beds (Squeaky disgusting old beds) 5. Noisy Ac 6. Smelly Hallways And for parking, there's only 8 spots, if your lucky you'll get one, If not you have to park 1 and 1/2 blocks away on the Clarion hotels lot And since you don't have a Phone in your room, if you need guest services you have to go down stairs call a number on a sign to get a hold of the Surf Villa's Manager (owner). Last but not least, there is one microwave in the whole building, the ice machine is (was) out of order. And regarding the WiFi, I called the number at the desk, to ask for the passkey to log on, I was unable to. The next morning i spoke with the manager regarding the connection, and was told that the coast guard controls the antenna!! Like WTH....I urge all who reads this , please don't go there. You will not be happy!

I did not like anything about this place. Really nothing that can be liked there!

This is a terrible, noisy place on the one of the main streets. Nobody should stay there, let alone pay 100$ to occupy. Noise, antique windows that do not protect from anything, terribly noise air conditioner, terribly noisy fridge, the shower basically not working or shooting either cold or hot water, some parking behind the house but always occupied so have to go 2 blocks away to park the car. This place should be completely renovated in order to be rented! It is a shame that it is on the rental site. I put basically 'poor' rating for most of the questions, but it should have been 'Unacceptable' rather.

It is only a block away from the boardwalk and you can see the ocean from the porch. Staff was very curteous, helpful and attentive.

The bathroom was extremely small especially the shower. Wifi did not work in the room!

Proximity to the beach. Very friendly staff. Lobby and visitors were monitored during night and day. Downtown, but not disruptive.

The bathroom plumbing was not in good working order.

The ONLY good thing about this "hotel" was the location. Its right across the street from the beach. That's it...

This was not at all what was expected. The room looked like someones great grandmother decorated it and furnished it with the basics of the '50s. There was a small box TV, a mini fridge that looked like it'd been through a few college students, and a bathroom that I first thought was a closet. There was nothing working in the "hotel" that's really a house made into a hotel, the ice machine was "out of order", the wifi didn't work at all because the signal was so poor, the water in the shower had awful pressure and was either boiling hot(for about five minutes), or arctic cold. The bed threatened to break and rocked around whenever we sat or laid down. All in all it was a complete dive, but without the cheap prices. Will NOT be returning or recommending EVER!

The room was clean -small, but clean. The staff , including the owner was very nice and helpful. We arrived early & he let us check in about 1 1/2 hrs early. Location to the beach and boardwalk was within 5 min which was marvelous !!

The Flag on the front porch was shredded badly-should have been taken down or replaced-right from the start gives you a bad impression-along with the wicker chairs with no cushions. For a few dollars could have remedied this situation. There was no ice machine, but told can buy ice at store around the block. The bathroom was very small. But all in all, it wasnt bad for the money.

The Staff was very nice. I would go back again. The hotel was very old and rundown. But the beds were clean an air conditioner worked good .You can tell they didn't put much money into the place But the hospitality was top notch there was even a person that works out front making sure everything was safe overnight.

Very old bathrooms and doors were hard to open and shut at the front of the room.

I liked Surf Villa for the convenience of the beach

It wasn't what I expected, I thought the rooms would be better looking and more roomy. Wasn't much to look at.

A flop house, nothing you advertised was true. Had to go out on the porch to use Wifi!

The location is excellent
