Liked being by/on Pacific Beach w/ pool access to beach walk/beach. Liked how The Surfer Beach Hotel connected to World Famous Restaurant. Room was clean, bed comfortable, and updated bathroom features appreciated.
Noise by people past midnight and probably noticed as windows open due to warm outside/inside temperature & no AC. Wifi struggled in room so needed to go to central location i.e. pool to access.
small showers very low hanging shower head my pillow was very old small pool small jacuzzi
Right on the beach, walking distance to many restaurants andbars.
Rooms small. no ac. Building old. Tiny shower.
Room on 3rd floor with great ocean view. Pool was perfect nobody else at pool. What a great location 35 ft. to beach. Room was clean with balcony to view ocean and have a cocktail. Excellent king size bed.
The staff was very polite and they did everything possible to give me a room with a great view of the ocean for my engagement weekend. The location is excellent and having the World Famous restaurant connected to the hotel is a bonus. I would recommend this hotel.
The rooms are comfortable with nice flat screen tv's but a little outdated. The showers are a little small, especially for 2. The way the hotel is set up there is not a great air flow and no a/c. An inexpensive ceiling fan above the bed would help immensely.
Great location, price and room! We had a plumbing issue with the shower during our stay, but the front desk was very apologetic and gave us a discount for the inconvenience. Will definitely stay here again!
We had ocean view room but it was near the huge a/c unit on top of the restaurant. Could not hear the ocean waves, just heard a loud hum all day and night. Was not impressed with the noise.
Great location, can't get any closer to the beach! Beds were comfortable. Room was big enough, bathroom was tiny. Room 204,304,404. Would be ideal ocean view. We were in 204 which was good but higher would be better.
NO air conditioner! Not much of a breeze in the middle of August! The maid basically pulled up the comforter and that was it! My kids had cookie crumbs on the floor and they were still there after the maid left. Fun beach location, nothing fancy!
View of waves and ocean. Patio and Pool area so family could smoke or drink and watch people walking by. Would stay again.
elevator didn't always work.

Nothing, it looked like a haunted hotel
1) bad location 2) no AC no privacy no security 3) old and dirty furniture 4) scary ceiling 5) tiny bathroom Overall it looks like a 2 star motel!
Location was great right at the beach near everything. It was nice to have wi-fi
The place is very old. No air conditioning. Only a fan in the room. The shower was tiny. Also we booked two double beds and the room had one bed and one sleeper sofa. The person at the front desk acted like it was a big deal to change our room. Overpriced for what you get.
The "world famous " Restaurant wad great. Woodys take out was good too. Staff was nice, the beach in front of hotel had good surf.
Our room was very dirty. Gross. Floors. Carpet, shower, the shower was very small I'm 5"6 128" and had to bend over to wash my hair , i could barley fit. Its very loud due to the air units on top of the Restaurant. They even left earplugs on bedside table . Rooms are hot,no air conditioning, you cant leave sliddidng door open due to noise outside. And the smoking guests were everywhere. The smoke came into our room through balcony. Some quests seemed to be living there at hotel ,we saw two men sitting by the pool and ice machine. I was traveling with my 11 year old daughter and this creeped me out. The pool was ok ,but the chairs were all broken .dirty and full of spider webs underneath. I recieved many bites at this hotel, or beach. I cant be sure of where i got them. The bites were mostly on my upper exsposed body. Not on my legs. So this made me believe they were bed bugs. I would never stay at this hotel again
Friendly staff, super helpful and accommodating. Chirion and the other front desk gentleman are top notch! The staff was flexible and courteous with when we had to cancel one of our rooms for the 2nd night. Amazing location near the bar scene and the business area. We were able to watch the sunset on the Pacific Ocean from our rooms' door. Check out is as 12 pm, which was really helpful as well. Loads of dresser space, and places to hide our bags. Staff was responsive to our requests - extra sheets for the 2nd bed (but they weren't in there to begin with). Adhesive tape to help with our bach party decorations. Calling an emergency plumber straight away.
Our main room, which we booked for two nights, had plumbing issues. Thankfully, we had booked the 2nd room, and all 5 girls were able to shower and ready themselves in there. The shower was not fixed until mid-day on our 2nd day there. They called in an emergency plumber, but that was inconvenient. Hotel check in was not until 4pm; it would have been great if check in was 2pm or 3pm. Facilities are dated. However, all of PB's facilities that are on the affordable side tend to be dated and a bit grimy. Overall, it was not as bad as some other Mission Blvd facilities. (that being said, those facilities in general are kind of old and gross). Not enough outlets in the room.
Bullet points: Didn't feel safe Got in bed-chunks of crumbs in my bed Rude manager to me and to his workers-looks as if he hates his job Said my room would have balcony-not Didn't feel safe- when I asked for a balcony, they moved me to a downstairs level with a public walkway they called a patio where anyone could walk into my room I came to get work done in a relaxing, quiet, private, ocean view environment. My fault for picking this hotel in the first place. You get what you pay for. I could have gotten the same environment and amenities at a Motel 6 near the beach.
Super view, super waves, super girls on the beach
Every thing SUPER
I like that they gave us a great deal after we were given a room the had a water problem.
Amazing location right on the beach. Loved watching the surf and beach activity from our balcony when we first got up. I loved running on the beach and being able to go in bare feet right from our hotel door. Loved opening the balcony door and just hearing the pounding surf, beautiful!
Perhaps a fresh coat of paint in the stair wells and a few more lights in the stair wells would help to brighten it up. Our balcony could have used some cement paint to keep the crumbling cement from being tracked inside.
Not much privacy so the ear plugs were appreciated! Great location and comfortable rooms but I was expecting more amenities for the price tag.
We had to request an iron and hair dryer. The shower was for one-person only with small movements and the towels were pretty pitiful. With the cool San Diego weather, a hot tub would have been much better than the unheated pool.
Everything was perfect my boyfriend and I even booked rooms again when we checked out for Labor Day weekend can't wait to come back =)
This hotel is one of the least expensive hotels actually on the Pacific Beach boardwalk. It has a very good restaurant attached to it that has great food.
The hotel is a little outdated but clean. We went on the 4th of July week and there were quite a few noisy partying teenagers at the hotel through-out the weekend. They all left on Monday! Yeah!! It also appeared almost anyone could access the pool and pool area even non-hotel guests.
The hotel has a great location just steps from the beach. Restuarant on site. Right on the boardwalk. Close to shops and restuarants.
I would have rather paid the extra 20 dollars for an ocean view rather than the 15 dollar parking pass. My room was on the bottom floor facing the parking lot near an alley, for this reason I did not feel comfortable leaving the windows open to catch that lovely ocean breeze. No AC at the hotel so with the windows closed it was incredibly hot even with the provided fans blowing....
The location was absolutely the best
The rooms had no air conditioning which made for some sticky humid nights
Location was amazing!
