Not within walking distance of uptown Talkeetna.
Warm, clean cabins at the foot of the mountains. Park with playground nearby. Railraid station within walking distance.
Of course, it could have been a step above, but in a small town, you can't get the most luxurious.
I loved where it was and how local it was. It's a great feeling to know that you're supporting a local establishment.
Wi-Fi was a little iffy, many times where I could not connect to the network from the cabin. However there are many more things to do there than just surf the web.
Awesome location with great views from within the cabin. The cabin itself was very nice to stay at, with plenty of room and comfort.
Wifi signal was slow and weak. However we didn't expect to have any. You'll be so overwhelmed by the views that you won't care about internet.
Remote and private. Well kept. The beds were comfy and cabin was warm. Beautiful views.
New mattresses are desperately needed for mature visitors with arthritic bones. I hate to say this but a TV in cabins are needed for people (husbands) that have trouble without their "toys" (computers or ham radios). Both were available in the lobby if needed.
Wonderful location in any season. Good for the aurora in winter and just as good in Sprig or summer. I'm already planning our next visit this summer. We didn't see the aurora this trip but the sky was beautiful. I didn't know that many stars existed. Great cabin with huge windows to see from.
The peaceful and beautiful setting. Good restaurants near by, and exploring Talkeetna and surrounding area.
Excellent location, cabin, and staffs.
Slight odor from the heat source but we got used to it. There were CO detectors so it's not a safety issue but we are just not used to that type of heat not even sure if it was propane or diesel. A real fireplace instead of electric would have added more authentic touch.
Sitting up in the loft of our lodge watching the sunset was a highlight and curling up with a good book about Alaska in the comfy bed was a close second. I also enjoyed not having a TV in our cabin, which I didn't realize until we were unpacking our stuff. The owner was really great about picking us up at the train depot, too.
Wanted to check in early so e-mailed to see if that was possible. Not only did they e-mail us to let us know our cabin would be available after it was cleaned from the previous guest, but they followed it up with a phone call to let us know they were done and the cabin was ready. It really is the small touches that count and Susitna River Cabins passed with flying colors.
No comfortable river access for enjoying the water
Not really a bad thing but if only they had an electric stove then it would have been a complete mini kitchen if all you ever wanted was to make some simple lunch or dinner and hibernate! On the plus side, there are plenty of restaurants minutes away.
Absolutely beautiful cabin and the surroundings. Right next to the Susitna river, it was a perfect place for a perfect cabin. Our cabin had a very cute design with two beds at the upper den that was perfect for our 2 small kids but big enough for bigger kids to small adults. In fact, kids made us sleep at the upper den on the first day! We totally loved our stat and extended it for 1 more day than planned just to relax after an exhausting Denali trip. It is approximately 2.45 hours drive from Denali, so if you want to make a day trip to Denali to see the park using their shuttle buses to go up Eielson center then you can still stay here. This is exactly what we did but it will be a very long day! This is when you can use the next day to relax at the cabin!! They also have a lodge attached to the main office.
Unsure how to use the gas stove/ no directions.
Spacious cabin, good kitchenette set-up, information notebook showcasing multiple tour companies, and
location view owner very helpful can walk into Talkeetna large cabin with nice amenities
The blankets in the lodge were slightly lacking, and the covers were not too aesthetically pleasing (though this is an entirely minor complaint). Additionally, I found some areas that were not very well cleaned, as there was some sticky leftover remaints on the windowsill on the top floor.
I liked the spaciousness of the interior of the cabin. The upper loft was very quaint with the additional nook looking out toward the river. The view was spectacular, but the continental breakfast was just satisfactory.
The cabin was right on the river front and very well equipped. The owners were very helpful as well in setting our children up for fishing and lending us a rod.
Convenient to town & train Views fab Friendly staff
The location was excellent, staff was incredibly helpful and helped me to mail packages home so that I would not have to tried to get them out of flight. They went out of their way to be helpful in every way that could.
dated carpet and fixtures
fake fire place.
river view and views of Mt McKinley! Close to town but not busy.
Awesome location close to town with a view of McKinnley. The cabins are cute and clean. The staff was friendly.
The cabin was comfortable and clean. The view was fabulous from Cabin 1!!!! The location was quiet and serene. It was a short walk into Talkeetna. We enjoyed our short stay here and if ever in the area would stay here again!
Staff could be friendlier. Self check in and check out not that great. Good location and close to town.
very clean. Darlene and Howard very nice and helpful. The little BBQ grill was nice. Scenery beautiful and saw a moose across river. Would highly recommend a stay here to my friend and hope to return ourselves.
