Staff were really friendly and helpful and the breakfast facilities and choices were great. Hotel is in a good location with an abundance of restaurant choices nearby, and not a very long walk down to the piers. The room was nice and clean and bed was relatively comfortable.
Walls were pretty thin and could hear neighbouring guests talk and move around at times.
I have no dislikes about this hotel.
Location, comfort room, clean
Breakfast is too simple
We loved the location it was walking distance to everything and felt safe
I didn't like the bed the mattress was hard and there weren't enough pillows
Area was excellent - plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars. We felt very safe too.
Hotel walls are a little thin - this may be an issue for light sleepers.
wifi, quietness, easy shuttle booking,
lack of staff/plunger for clogged toilet, so-so breakfast
The best part of it is the location. If you don't mind walking you have sights such as Fishermans Wharf/Pier 39, Coit Tower, Union Square, Lombard Street and Embarcadero within 30 minutes walking distance.
We stayed in 5 different hotels during our trip in the US. This was definitely the worst value for money on this trip, if not ever. Don't get me wrong though. It is a decent hotel. Old English style with a lot of carpets and old fashioned furniture. I have stayed in similar hotels in London many times. There they usually cost £50-100/night depending on the location. This hotel however cost over $200/night which is an absolute joke considering what you get. At a reasonable price I would have been decently satisfied. I understand that property prices are high in San Francisco but are they really higher than Midtown Manhattan? We stayed in Grand Hyatt San Diego at a lower price than this hotel... At this price I don't expect to hear my next door neighbour snore at night. I do expect to get warm water in the shower (not luke warm). I do expect to have somewhere to put my suitcase. I do expect a breakfast that cost more than one dollar that is not served on paper plates. And while the location is good the nearby neighbourhood is not impressive with nudie bars across the street.
Good central location. Tidy and clean, with everything we needed. Great choice of eateries close by. City Lights bookstore just around the corner.
Noisy electric guitar being played in the street below all 3 nights we were there.
Cieanliness, friendliness, value
Could have done without the tawdry scene across the intersection
Convenient location. Friendly staff. The included breakfast was quite acceptable. I particularly enjoyed reading the story of Mr SW. I think it should be made into a book.
The area is not so nice at night as there are many 'girlie' bars in the area. We chose not to walk around after dark although I'm sure it wasn't dangerous.
Great hotel in an area that would be otherwise be brothels and strip clubs. it's definitely a gem. walking distance to all major attractions in SF or to discover around SF's chinatown
breakfast should be offered to accommodate varied guests. i went during marathon weekend, and we had to be up and out by 5:00 am at the latest, and breakfast was served only from 7a to 10a. For a special event, other hotels tend to do specials for participants of the events such as earlier than usual breakfast.
Clean and very pleasant staff
No negative comments
Free breakfast was poor.
Clean, excellent staff.
Early morning (6:00am) movie crew setting outside our window prevented sleeping in but that happens. Kids liked the excitement.
The staff was friendly and helpful with helping me to book airport transport. It is a quaint little spot.
The walls were exceptionally thin. Like, shockingly thin. I could hear what was happening in the room next to me as clear as day. The breakfast was weak. Not a lot of options, just not interesting.
The hotel is very clean, big hotel, room size is okay, the staff is very friendly, great breakfast, it is difficult to find a hotel including breakfast in SF and this one was very good, the woman in charge was all the time taking care to replace things that were finishing. It is very comfortable hotel.
the street outside the hotel is a bit dark at nights, but nothing to worry about
loud at night
Had to pay for parking
Bit more options for breakfast
They could not accommodate us at all. I requested two double beds days prior, and they couldn't do it. They were very rude about it and told us to leave if we weren't happy.
Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Good WiFi. Close walking distance from the centre of the city and Fisherman's Wharf. The Vesuvio bar nearby is quite cool.
There were a number of gentlemen's clubs across the street.
Everything was good, very helpful staff
The service at breakfast was a bit slow and the food was for ever short and we had to ask for most items
clean. nice decor.
booking policies are not clear. or staff is not educated enough in explaining it to me. The night clerk created a lot of drama for me to check in. And did the same for the guests who came in shortly after me. bed was uncomfortable. trash was not removed one day, even though it was full. breakfast was poor
The staff was helpful. The room was nice and comfortable. The parking was convenient. I liked the decor in my room and in the rest of the hotel.
There was no view. In order to get eggs or fruit for breakfast we had to ask, and we didn't even know that at first. The room was very small.
