I liked how close to the City Centre this was.
The area was a little dangerous. I had some things stolen here - creating problems for my onward travel. However, I believe that the Hotel does their best to create a safe environment.
the creepy athmosphere and the man at the reception
The dirt, the junkies and the thief(s)
I like that It is not monitored like a prison like the other hotels in the area....friendly staff and clean..
Bed horribly squiky
They look cheap in Booking.com listing but that is only because they split the price in two, almost half of it is a "service charge" added to what makes it top of the list when you search a budget hotel. Location is terrible but if you approach it from Hilton (east) it is not that bad.
I had a roof over my head
The room,the pricing
Good position, good and cheap restaurants very close to the hotel
Just arrived at the hotel i ask at the girl at the front desk how to go to the Golden Gate Bridge and she answer '' I don`t know" , I had all the information in a hotel one block away. They give me a towel with suspect Yellow spots. absolutely disgusting. the cover had holes of cigarettes and blanket was dirty. i slept with my clothes.I put the towel on the floor but they never change it and at 9 pm reception was closed so i had shower 2times with a disgusting towel. The price is to much for quality and services.
Parking Area Size of room View
The room offered a little more than most SROS. I like the fact that it had a refrigerator and microwave.
The room could've been bigger. To little space to navigate.
It's really close to Union Square and Market Street (and all public transportation). The staff is really lovely and you feel safe. The street is not the worst in San Francisco, on the contrary (walked there alone at night, being a girl, had absolutely no problem). Anyone looking for an affordable stay, this hotel is for you !
There wasn't enough plugs (which is really not a big inconvenient) in the room. Decoration, furniture, etc. are old style, but everything works just fine.
Great location Good Wifi
Bad infrastructure No air conditioner No smoking sign, just for decoration
No tv although promised on web site
location, very close to Union Square parking next to the building (30usd for overnight) cheap
I stayed at the room 102 which looking into the apartment space and no other window. Because of that rooms smells pigeon feces. Shared bathroom has no washstand so when I used the bathroom I need to go back to the room to wash my hands.
Bathroom and microwave
Dirty bed sheets. Broken door refrigerator. I asked the girl at the front office for a towel two days and did not get any so I went out and bought three which I left at check out. There was no television in the room and when I asked the girl I got one after the 2nd day from the night caretaker. Very poor service from the girl at the front office who told me I cannot get a bill because the printer was broken.
I love the location, near the Union Square and Chinatown, with convenient transport. Taking the price into consideration, it's okay, though a little bit smelly.
After I've prepaid $191 online ($165 shown on Booking plus tax etc), I was asked to pay another $25 by cash when checking in for validating. I thought it would be refundable after checking out. But it is not.
This hotel is located quite close to the China town area, so walking to see this attraction was possible.
By far this is the worst place I could have chosen to stay. You enter the building to smell a strong scent of marijuana which is overpowered of the smell of damp in our room. My husband refused to use the communal shower after finding a used needle in it. A live-in tenant was the point of contact during our stay, we did not see the owner once in 3 days. For the price, we were ripped off - find some where else to stay.
Close to Moscone Center.
Neighborhood (just one block around) is dirty.
1. My room wreaked of a rat odor. Couldn't sleep cause of it. Didn't want to complain because when I arrived and came back to my place on the first day of stay, the resident manager stumbles out of his room very intoxicated asking who I was. He then said his assistant is slipping because he didn't know even though he was in the same room with me when I signed paper work. 2. No toilet paper provided. Bathrooms and showers are shared with 20 other rooms. Sanitation is low priority. Carpets felt very sticky. 3. Be careful where you park. Location is good in a bad area.
Bed Bugs Cant lock the Toilets (Men)
It was extremely cheap. It is an old building with very nice wood work in the first floor hall and a sky light in the stairway going up. The bathrooms have old fashioned looking wooden stalls. It is in a great central location and you can't beat the price. There were two beds, a microwave and a fridge. No TV, but who wants a TV when you're on vacation? Internet access in the room also, although it would go out from time to time.
My wife felt unsafe there. She had read about the Tenderloin area immediately before we went there, and was so freaked out that she had trouble sleeping the first night, as I slumbered beside her. Yes, there are lots of homeless people in the Tenderloin, yes, it has the highest crime rate in SF, but it is still fairly safe. If you have to come and go from the hotel at night, just walk briskly to your destination and you'll be fine.
Quiet central location. Very accessible. Fridge and microwave useful. Handy for cable car and buses. Staff listened to any concerns and handled them well.
Amenities could use an overhaul. Some rooms better than others. Fellow guests lack consideration towards neighbours.
We were very apprehensive about staying at this hotel given the amount of negative reviews. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this hotel, it is not in the best area however it is very close to the bus, train and cable car which makes it easy to get around. This is the best hotel in the suburb of Tenderloin (many other hotels are dodgey). A 5-minute walk to Union Square with all the shopping, restaurants, cafes and nightlife makes it perfectly located. For such a cheap price, the hotel is quite old but the rooms are comfortable, staff are lovely and helpful and you feel quite safe. The shared shower and bathrooms are kept clean but are still a bit old (some doors have no locks/old toilets etc) but for the price, this is a hotel you can't go past. The area is definitely not the worst in SF, there are homeless around however if you keep to yourself if out walking in the streets, you won't have any issues. There are a lot of other tourist hotels and cafes around so you won't have problems meeting people. slight smell of weed occaisionally and no TV in the room but that did not really bother us as the hotel was so cheap and conveniently located. overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cheap, affordable stay in San Francisco
- some locks on toilets are broken - hotel is a tiny bit run down (older style accommodation)
NOTHING it was ridicoulos
EVERYTHING, room was not clean, bugs, smelt of Toilette, ....
I was right there downtown. This place is so ragged it's already kind of cool again...Bukowsky style. Toilets and showers (in the hall) were clean. Can't beat the price. Not for ninnies, though!
I didn't want to let any of my stuff hit the floor so kept everything on the bed as it seemed the only decently clean space in my room. Worked out good as I was on my own and the bed was big enough. No extras e.g. coffee maker, hair dryer, soap, but - surprise - a towel:) This place is another Grand Budapest Hotel that has seen better days...
Smelly room，dirty carpet, clogged toilets, poor insulation board, unable to lock window. Many homeless people around there. Everything is terrible!
