Beautiful location. Outstanding upkeep on the facilities!
This room next door to our room (we stayed in the guest lodge not the main lodge) was quite noisy. It sounded like three loud air compressors running constantly all night long. I didn't sleep well. The buffet breakfast wasn't worth the money.
Location and property set up
Room quality and no microwave in room. Very limited laundry for the size on the facility.
Food was disappointing. Very high price.
Good location for visit to Talkeetna
Had the feel of a less expensive hotel. Nothing special about the building or rooms.
The location of our room was just perfect nearby the main lobby. We enjoyed the bistro area both inside and outdoors. The small town of Talkeetna was a surprise with some nice options for breakfast.
The cost is outrageously expensive in my opinion but understand your need to make the most out of the summer season.
This is a nice hotel in a fantastic location. It is located a short drive from Talkeetna which has great restaurants, shops and activities. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The hotel has a nice large deck with a view of Denali. I was here for a few days in July and would definitely stay here again.
The view when the clouds cleared.
The Talkeetna Lodge is, by far, the worst value of any place that I have ever stayed. In common language, it is a huge financial gouge that takes full advantage of the unsuspecting tourist. The lodge is very noisy because it is cheaply and poorly constructed. You can hear the conversations of those in the adjacent room through the walls. The service is minimal, and, since the whole cost is "pre paid", with no possibility of refund, you are just stuck. You have no idea what you are buying before you get there. I paid, in advance, $1743.04 for four nights, or $435.76 a night, or about the same as The Ritz Carlton in Chicago. If Talkeetna Lodge was in the any other place, it would be a $119 room, maximum. And that, of course, is why they can take such advantage of you. I requested a king room and was given a double bed room. It was on the top floor, and there was NO elevator. The walls are thin, the carpet has no padding, the room door would not close completely, the sheet rock is stapled and not finished, and the bathroom is similar to that of a low end chain hotel, with linoleum floors and low end fixtures. It is as cheaply built and maintained as they can slip by their visitors. The cancellation policy is 14 days in advance, which is really no cancellation policy at all. I was on a cruise prior to our visit, and got sick on the ship. I showed up at Talkeetna Lodge, and asked to cancel the last night so that I could get home a week before our scheduled Alaska departure. I was curtly quoted the cancellation policy, and they would do nothing to assist me. I left early anyway to get home, forfeiting the last night's $435.76 lodging cost. Booking.com is great, but since they do not have any type of trip insurance for pre paid lodging (why not?), I would not do ANY pre paid reserving again without trip insurance. A 14 day advance cancellation policy is both risky and absurd, particularly if you are on a cruise before you start your Alaska land tour.
Perfect location near downtown Talkeetna. Breakfast buffet offered quality food and restaurant staff (both shifts) were great! Views of Mt. McKinley were the best of the trip.
Hostess seemed put out that we didn't have a dinner reservation though there were plenty of open tables.
Main area by fireplace
Food was average and overpriced.
nice facility beautiful view good restaurant
A little expensive
location and views
room was mediocre for the price; food was also just average with limited selection
Nice place, great location
Very overprices for amenities
Clear day seeing the mountain from the deck.
Talkeetna is a wonderful and unique lodge, with a host of guest friendly amenities and a great location, with incredible views of Denali, especially when the mountain (McKinley) is "out".
We stayed one night the week it opened this summer season. The lodge is very attractive and offers an excellent view of the distant Mt. McKinley. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Tiny fitness room.
It's a very pretty setting and close to downtown Talkeetna activities.
We were planning to eat dinner at the Faraker Restaurant but it was booked for a private party so we had to go back to Talkeetna to eat. The Bistro on site was packed full.
Can't beat the location!! On a great day excellent views of Mt. McKinley.Free shuttle to Talkeetna. Clean, quiet and comfortable rooms.
Wifi is poor. Quite pricey. Doorman expects a tip if they open a door for you.
everything except not much to do in and round the hotel
shuttle hours could be longer
The bed was a little too soft for us. An elevator would be helpful.
Beautiful lodge and location and the employees were very helpful and so nice!
The views, free shuttle, open feel with manicured lawns
Excellent view of Denali and the other mountains.
The architecture is beautifully Alaskan.
