The hotel has a lovely lobby & bar areas, which are great for a drink or two.
The rooms are a bit tired & run down. Terrible lighting in the bathroom.
The gym was good and the sports bar was great. The bed was massive. The value seemed better than others in Dallas
We couldn't see out of our window as it was all fogged up. The decor is tired. The parking was expensive. The sink leaked. There was no room safe.
The staff is wonderful. The appearance is lovely, stately, and historic, a great place to visit but I don't recommend staying there.
There wifi was non-existant, the water pipes in the bath were crossed and there was only hot water including in the toliet, the AC wasn't adequate, the down comfort too hot and heavy for Texas, and down pillows were mushy so that your head was on the bed with a wad of feathers around your ears! Just miserable for sleeping..!!
Liked historical aspect of the property--room very nice, too
The valet couldn't locate our car both times we went to leave.
Room was excellent, very spacious, comfortable bed with a historic feeling about it. The hotel has a historic grandeur appearance and feel, especially the lifts, while afternoon tea can be served as a treat, if desired. Located in downtown the skyline around the hotel is dotted with stunning skyscrapers during the day and even more when lit up at night.
Doesn't have pool facility. Biggest issue however is no complimentary wifi access. During my trip I have stayed from 1* to 5* and all had wifi as complimentary (some required payment for higher speeds if required) however wifi here required $10 minimum payment for 24hours, which is why I gave it only fair for facilities.
It felt like we were in an old hollywood movie. gorgeous surroundings prompt pleasant service at the desk and in the restaraunts. would highly reccomend to others staying in Dallas.
That there was a bed to sleep in and SOME of the staff tried to accomodate the poor atmosphere...
We had to change room 3 times when we got there due to pet hair on the furniture. Upon arriving in the 3rd room, later that day, noticed about an inch of dust under the bed, it had not been swept in probably a year. The bathroom sink was leaking and left water stains all over the floor, the housekeeping failed to clean the bathroom floor effectively. I have pictures of the wash cloth that we used to wipe the floor because it was filthy. The water glasses in the bathroom were not clean. They had lipstick on the rim and were not very nice to the touch, like they had not washed the glasses. My pizza that I had saved to eat when I came back from a long day of classes had been taken from my room and thrown away. It was no where near the trash can when I left it there. I shouldn't have had to leave a note asking for it to not be thrown away, it was on the counter above the fridge on top of our pack of water. Upon checking out, the hotel did give me credit for one night, but the girl that checked me out was full of excuses. There is no room for excuses when you work at the front desk. I told her she may want to retrain the housekeeping staff. She said that because of how busy they have been, the housekeeping staff was told to move faster, so they are more focused on the quantity, not the quality of how clean the rooms are. That is NOT acceptable as a form of explanation for me as a guest of their facility. I do have pictures of the dust under the bed, the leaking sink with water on the floor, the lipstick imprinted glass and the wash cloth of the dirt where we wiped up the bathroom floor. More than likely I will not be using this facility ever again.
Maybe I have watched to many movies and I was basing that on my stay. I expected a lot more than what I got out of my stay. House keeping only made the bed did not change the sheets. When the hotel was booked it appeared we would have a balcony or a view all we had was a small 4 by 10 window covered by a curtain the size of the wall that looked out across a 10 ft section to some other rooms.
the staff was so friendly, from the valet and porters outside, to the front desk people, to the housekeepers. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and interested.
I had to stay another day and the price to extend my stay was high, in my opinion. Because of the Comic Con, my original 2 nights were $145. The extended stay was +200$. The parking fee was also very high.
History of hotel, architecture and attentiveness of staff
Room water was warm to hot; no cold water out of tap for drinking. Lighting at bathroom morrow too subdued
the bb convention at the hotel and the location
tom the drunk at the bar--kidding
Our hotel experience was elegant, beautiful and romantic. I wish we knew ahead of time to make reservations for the French room and afternoon tea. It was our first stay, so we were unaware of the jacket dress code for the French Room, as well.
Beautiful hotel. Great location.
AC didn't work the first few hours until they sent someone up. The bed was hidden kind of behind a wall, where the AC does not blow directly towards where you are sleeping. We booked a King Bed room, but got a Queen bed room. The clock in the room was 36 minutes too slow (glad we weren't on business depending on that). When housekeeping came after the first night, they didn't leave any of the face cleansers for my wife (like were in there when we got there), and they failed to leave any washcloths. Had to call downstairs to get this handled. Kind of a hassle when you are dealing with this quality of a hotel and small things like this should not be overlooked at an establishment such as this.
Convenient location excellent staff comfortable room, though small
Noisey. Despite the fact I was on the 11th floor, street noise was an issue. Also, garbage dumpsters in the area are emptied around 6:00am making a tremendous amount of noise. Room was a little pricy for the amenities. Room was not really set up to accommodate a business traveler who likes to work in their room. internet connection should have been included in the price of the room
The lobby lounge is superb. Excellent fitness centre and good business centre. Quiet, restful atmosphere.
Lack of wi-fi other than through AT&T. Receptionist advised would have room with great view but looked out onto a brick wall ! My room needed more lights/lamps.
the height of the potty was extremely low !
Great location. Complimentary limo service is fabulous. Kudos to Barry the limo driver for exceeding our expectations.
Tired, worn-out, dirty rooms (was moved twice) in need of a major makeover. Stains on the chairs, bed skirt and blanket. Dust on nightstands. Water stains on desk. Missing electrical outlet covers. Stayed 3-nights and soap/shampoo/conditioner was never replenished. Biggest annoyance: No ice-machines. You have to call room service. I could go on and on......
There was a problem with the plumbing in our first room - only hot water even in the toilet - and it wasn't until 11:30 P.M. that we were given an acceptable alternative. The next morning that room had very little hot water...you can't make this stuff up! The next two days it was fine.
Location was close to main tourist attractions.
Overpriced, poor service and needed to call housekeeping twice to get room cleaned..
Location to my conference.
The loud noises of the AC, outside noises which you could hear, trucks at 2:50am unloading. Lack of eating options in the hotel. For the price charged per night the amenities which are on offer at the hotel were lacking
Room service folks were super nice.
Upon arrival, the desk clerk, Aaron, asked for my ID and immediately stated my name did not match my husband's on the booking?com reservation. Stated it was required for check in to match. Rooms were not very clean.
A/c didn't work half the night and I booked this for my son and daughter in law on their wedding night through booking.com and they charged my card and then made them pay cash because they didn't have the card with them.... Frustrating
Great location-- close to several restaurants, walking distance to convention center. Clean and specious room. Friendly and helpful stuff.
They did not clean our room for the 1st day, even we reminded them twice in the daytime. But after then, everything is good.
We loved all aspects: the French Room with its outstanding food, manager, chef, and servers.
