The mattress. That was it for the bedroom. No desk. one nite table. No wifi in rooms. The stairway. No elevators, so we got to know the stairway quite will. Pity those who have 2 flights to climb.
Filthy. Rugs in our room full of stains. Fake. Picture shows porch off 2nd floor. Guess what! Only 3 rooms have access to porch! No parking. Picture walking 1/4 mile at nite, poorly lit uneven sidewalks back to hotel. Breakfast-looking for decent food? No bread. bagels, muffins. No sugar free cereals. No skim milk. Toaster (30 yrs old I guess) One side of toaster does not work! Tiny room. And we were in one of their large rooms.
Very comfortable bed and pillows. Loved the large bathroom and the soap/shampoo brand. The verandah was great to breakfast on or lounge. Loved the individual heat/A/C control!
Room was too small for bedside tables on both sides which would have given better light for reading. The Wifi signal was poor to non-existent. No robe or slippers as advertised (we didn't need them but still).
The hotel is beautiful and comfortable.
The parking is too far from the hotel.
the lack of parking close by
Location was good, parking very bad for a hotel of that size.
Well, on the second night I fell going into the bathroom over the raised threshold. Went down on my knees and slid into the side of the bathtub bounced backwards and hit my face on the tile floor. Not at all a pleasent experience. Although they offered to call the parimedics. I refused. But after leaving the hotel No One even bothered called to ask how I was. I feel if they want a good review they need to keep up the place and make it safer for the guests. P.S. It was my understanding that someone else had also fell during the same week. This is what other guests told me once they had found thanI to had fallen on the premises.
Good Location Friendly and helpfull Staff
No elevator Restaurant was closed for the season Room was small
There was an extremely noisy wedding going on well after we went to bed. Our room was directly above the party. The room was vibrating with the music. Since we seemed to be the only ones there not involved why was our room overhead? Could never get wi-fi in the room.
Everything about the Alcott house is above par. We are happy we found it.
Breakfast could be more substantial:maybe add hard boiled eggs, cheese, more interesting cereals. Just a thought.
Only one block to the beach. Bed was so comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Kate helped us upgrade from a regular room to a suite, and made it so easy. Rodrigues, Matt, Flora, and Drew were all excellent. Loved the front porch, sunroom, upstairs porch. Picked a book to read from the sun porch library. Afternoon cookies were scrumptious. We ate a full breakfast rather than take advantage of the Alcott's continental breakfast, but it looked very nice. (Tradition takes us to the Mad Batter for breakfast...great poached eggs!)
Regular room was a bit small, but upgrading to a suite solved that. Would have liked a refrigerator in the room.
I loved being within walking distance of everything - the beach, shopping, restaurants. Staff was incredibly happy, helpful and friendly. We left the do not disturb sign on our door as we did not need to clean for a short stay and when we came back, there was a basket of fresh towels and toiletries by our door! I've never had that happen before! It was quiet and beautiful. We slept deeply and peacefully.
Tastefully decorated . . .good breakfast comfy beds
Remote parking blocks away, leak from room above in the middle of the night soaked all clean towels.
Great location very quiet and clean.
No pool. Only cold breakfast.
Beautiful hotel - lovely breakfast on the veranda - comfortable bed - nice sized room - great bathroom
No onsite parking - had to park in public lot six blocks away. Big problem - any time I left something in my car, I was out of luck. Not handicapped accessible - no elevator. Had to walk up two flights of stairs each time to my room.
The proximity to beach and shops is outstanding! Very relaxing location aware from bigger hotels.
The room needs some updating! Curtains and rug look weathered and dirty, for that rate I expected better! Continental Breakfast needs some more attention, display is lacking!
Very comfortable, welcoming, all as indicated above.
The continental breakfast could have been much better. Very average. Towels very rough, should be more luxurious for the price paid. Robes are always nice to have for that price too.
Staff, Cleanliness, Comfortable and good restaurant.
Walking up three flights of stairs and parking is a five block walk.
Clean, relaxed environment, nice breakfast and comfortable bedding.Close to beaches and the center of town. they provided beach towels.
The walls were paper thin and you could hear the people in the next room. Saturday night they had a wedding, which was a bit noisy, but ended by 11 30 pm.The third floor walk up was a little tough. Parking could be hard.
Beautiful historic hotel. Room and bed very comfortable.
Parking was several blocks away; however, we understood because the street and area cannot accommodate that many cars.
Proximity to beach.
The above. Plus parking was half mile away
It might perhaps be nice for a young couple looking for a small victorian feel hotel with no fluff or extras.
We booked through booking.com and they spontaneously "upgraded" the room to a king suite. The problem was that I was traveling with a companion (my mother!) that I did not want to share a bed with. Not all the world is young married couples. Upon checking in, I found out that the room I had booked was no longer available. They could no longer give us separate beds in the same room. Some upgrade! They were not helpful at all when I asked to be switched. They also did not volunteer that they had a SISTER hotel. It took some strong arming from the wonderful customer support at booking.com for them to transfer us to the sister hotel. Don't waste your time with Hotel Alcott, but instead do not pass go and proceed directly to Ocean Club Hotel. Give up the thin walled, old school rooms at Hotel Alcott. The front desk's jazz music wafts up through the thin floor into the suite "with a verandah" which meant the door opened to a shared balcony overlooking THE STREET. Leave this and the stuffy front desk and take yourself to the modern, clean, fresh, large, fully outfitted Ocean Club beach resort with its palm tree lined pool and bar and actual individual balconies. You can thank me later.
management and rates for the service that you are getting is way too high of a price.
Walk up 3 flights. And long walk to parking lot
