I'm so tired of hotels that charge extra for wifi. How many clients DON'T need wifi? Almost all do, so why not roll the cost into the cost of the room rather than nickel and dime their clients for wifi service? The Allerton had 3 levels of service, from $9.95 to $19.95/day. But nowhere was it explained the differences between the levels. Every time I opened my computer or phone, I had to re-join the network with my name and room number. Then I was overcharged for 6 days of service when I only was there 3 days, which they fixed when I checked out. So annoying! Free wifi will be at the top of my list for choosing a hotel from now on.
Location, Location, Location
Was able to check-in much earlier than expected because a room opened up, which was very nice after a long train ride. Comfortable bed.
Staff was friendly, location was great
No vending machines. Had to go to Walgreens to avoid paying insane mini bar charges
location is perfect as very central
Location. Customer service.
Bed hard as a rock. Carpet and walls had stains. No fridge unless u pay to open minibar. TINY; could barely get in and out of bathroom or closet. I'm only 5'5" and the ceiling height combined with sq. ft. made it claustrophobic. NOT recommended for tall or large people. Held $60 PER night for incidentals, whereas most hotels only charge one fee for overall stay. When i found out they held so much money for incidentals they reversed it by the next day (good customer service); it May be because i cried that it was all the money i had (i ended up spending that evening asking family for money to be wired via western union so i could at least eat).
Location, the rooms, comfort.
Concierge was not much help with car rentals. Also seemed not to know what major events are on like the marathon.... Also the rooms need a small water heater or coffee maker. Always useful for a late nite tea. I mean motel 6 has them...
Very comfortable, clean hotel located on the magnificent mile close to the shops, loop, beach, park and Chicago red line station. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
These was nothing we didn't like but we would have preferred a fridge with space to add our own items in to be able to keep them cool at night and, though the coffee was great from the lobby/ restaurant area were would have liked the facility to make one in the room especially as the coffee bar seemed only available in the morning. Lastly free wifi only in the lobby seemed odd in this day & age especially when places like Starbucks do it for free but I reiterate that these are very very minor and did nothing to detract from our stay at this excellent place.
Really nice location in the magnificent mile, in walking distance to several attractions and the T.
Staff was not polite and made you feel like disturbing them. When we just arrived, the receptioninst would not even greet us, just asking for documents and handling the keys. The checkout was no better. Minibar was only for their products, not being available for adding some things of your own. Internet was not included.
All of it
Nothing really, but a pool would be nice to recover after the sightseeing.
- Doorman was fair and honest about the vale rates in the area - Access was good city's tourist area
Loved the price and location
Rooms a touch on the small side but that's ok when you think of how much we paid
wi-fi was not free of charge
Great location for shopping and attractions. Hotel room large and very comfortable. Receptionist corrected account for drinks returned to fridge without quibbling.
Bathroom quite small but good shower. Watch out for fridge charges as records anything you remove even if you put it back in.
An amazing old building with a great view, when we checked in we asked how much a upgrade would be and the lovely man on the desk upgraded us for free
location, suit we had stayed excellent service at the breakfast
bathroom amenities were not replaced everyday and house keeping was good in their job but not enough towel and bathrob in the room
I found coackroaches in the bath so use Raid to kill them
The location was great, but the cost of the room per night during the labor day holiday, on top of the $65/per night price to park, with free WiFii only in the lobby, it was an expensive weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the cost was extraordinary.
Staff was very professional.
The position is very good
The rooms are noisy The internet connection is not offered for free Once you turn on the TV they will bill you 16.99 dollars of pay per view The conditions of the additional services are not clear The receptionist are rude The concierge service is practically absent The structure is not very clean The interiors are not in optimal condition
Comfy beds, stylish rooms and bathrooms. Attentive staff. Excellent location.
If I was being picky would have to say lack of free wifi in room
We loved the ambience of the hotel lobby, and bar area. Our room was spacious and comfortable -thanks for the offer of the upgrade. The free early morning coffee was very good. We had a lovely young lady on the desk when we checked in she was very helpful and obliging.
There is a fee to use wifi in areas other than the lobby which was disappointing. The wifi connections was intermittent which was frustrating. The young man on the night desk seemed a bit stressed - possibly with many checking - that he was off hand and unhelpful.
The location was simply ideal and the room (including the bathroom) so clean. The room amenities are very nice and modern. Will definitely stay there again next time I'm in Chicago!!!
Location was excellent for those wanting to experience downtown Chicago. Being located in the Gold Coast neighborhood is a bonus.
My reservation said I would have a queen bed. It was a full. The sheets were a wrinkled mess and the white duvet cover was literally covered with what I hope was lint. The off white headboard was stained yellow and the wallpaper was coming off the walls.
Very friendly check-in staff. Complimentary fruit was fantastic.
