My husband's family used to come here years ago so we decided it was the perfect place for our honeymoon. The staff are very friendly, courteous and professional. Definitely get the breakfast; the food is outstanding!!! Our room in the Edelweis was so comfortable. The bed was perfect, the bathroom was spotless. We will recommend this place to everyone.
Lovely location, clean
Dated décor and furnishings
Great view and park, hearty full breakfast, clean, cute.
No fridge in rooms; a bar in the lounge would be welcome; sound insulation from other rooms and hall is not great
Location in pine forest. Excellent breakfast
The setting atop the hill. The view. It must be fabulous during foliage season. The wonderful breakfast.
The lack of insulation to block out corridor noise when other guests entered the building.
the cost overcharged The place was very dated
And the breakfast was WONDERFUL.
Location to lots of mountain activities. Separate buildings. Very clean. Great bathroom shower and water pressure. The breakfast is included. Best surprise of our first stay...!! Great way to start the next day adventure with the variety of good foods offered!!
1. Clean 2. Beautiful view of Catskills 3. Strong Wi-fi 4. The lodging reminded me of Bavaria in Germany
1. Even though clean, the decor felt like it had not been updated since it's opening in 1936 especially in the main reception and lobby areas. The bathrooms in the rooms appear to be newly renovated but again the furniture and carpet were quite old. 2. My friend and I had read that the Alpine was known for their breakfast which we were looking forward to. When checking in, we were told that breakfast was not served until 8 30, however, we needed to leave earlier than that. We were told that we could stop by and see what was out but nothing could be promised. Since we wanted to eat around 8 15 or so, I thought they could have been a little more accommodating, especially since the price of breakfast was already included. 3. I thought the office where you signed in was not very welcoming or friendly and smelled like smoke.
The breakfast was the best thing going for the Inn and it was even late in opening in the morning we were there.
Poor staff, not too friendly, bathroom door in our room did not close all the way. No Wi-Fi when they said there is Wi-Fi. The screen on my cell phone was bigger than the TV screen in our room. Not worth the money they charge.
The chalets on the hillside are very pretty, the breakfast was excellent and the service was friendly.
The smell of mildew in the hallways was overpowering and the beds were uncomfortable. The much-advertised pool was a dark murky green which would be understandable in spring but in late June?
The complimentary breakfast was wonderful! Would stay there again just for the food.
The room needed updating. Felt that it was expensive for the quality of the room. I've stayed in much nicer rooms for much less. I guess you're paying for the location.
no ice machine restaurant was not open that night
Pool was not in use, resteraunt was not available for dinner even though advertised as open in April. No iron or ironing board in room.
The view was very nice that's about it
The staff we're not that friendly they wanted payment for all 3 nights when I arrived ,we had no refrigerator in the delux king room they have no beer or wine . Room service never brought us Shampoo and body wash when I asked twice and the dining room only opened on a Saturday night . I would never stay there again . It was not worth $700
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast in the morning was very nice. Very secluded and relaxing with great views.
Place needs a bit of redecorating but they seem to be working on it!
no curtain on door window leading to the balcony terrace had to place a white bathroom towel to block light coming from the sun in the morning...
The pathways were slippery with ice
Pretty scenery even though the lobby was like a very brady christmas. My daughter thought it was great and wants to go back.
The drive was not plowed and it seemed to be my problem. Checking in i felt like i was applying for a bank loan. After i barely made it up the unplowed drive they told me they didnt have room for my daughter and i for dinner and i shouldve reserved it--although no one said a word to me about it. So i had to go out in the snow and find a place to feed my 9 year old and then pray i got back up the hill. I even put my suitcase back in my car because if i couldnt get back up the drive i wasnt staying. Id drive the two hours back home. They didnt seem to notice we were there and felt like i was intruding. And then at breakfast we got to hear a couple cursing each other out in the kitchen. My little girl heard the whole thing.
Jamie is great and very accommodating. The place has real old world charm. The food is made on site, served family style and excellent.
Wish the mattresses were newer and queens, not full size in the double rooms
The location of the hotel is in a breathtaking location about 4 miles off the main road & 8 miles from Bellayre Mtn so very easy to get to the mountain. At first glance the interior of the hotel seemed a bit dated with the wood paneling and dated furniture but the hotel was impeccably clean and very well maintained. The rooms had a private deck, new carpeting, comfortable beds and brand new bathrooms. (And I love windows in the bathroom). Breakfast was included. It was both delicious, generous and service was great. Our hosts were lovely people and made us feel right at home. We are planning on going back in the summer to enjoy the pool and explore the stunning grounds more.
The roads on premise and walk ways were extremely icy and should have been sanded each night.
Quiet beautiful scenery nice old folks running the joint. Close to Peekamoose Tavern/Bar
very expensive for what offers. Rooms were small and the room are not as big as the picture besides the feel is old and dusty. Toiletries for 4 pp are one soap and one small shampoo both of poor quality Breakfast in Catskills?. Forget about farm to table at this place. Breakfast quality of motel 9 nothing that reminds you of housemade, nature or local. All cheap products. Not that I care for the tv but want to see the winter olympics results. The device and service needs serious improvements.
Fireplace in the room, nice breakfast.
No hot water for showers. We kept calling the front desk and no one answered. Then when we told them about it at the breakfast, they apologized but didn't offer a reduction on the room price.
It was perfect. Quiet, romantic and secluded. Breakfast was fantastic. The place was very clean and just perfect for what we were looking for.
There was no light outside on our deck, the TV was from 1992 and there was no wifi/cell service. Basically that just made the place more romantic for us, but it would make it difficult for others.
