Activity going on in lobby and Palm Court restaurant, Large room, friendly staff, In room coffee setup
false fire alarm
All staff very professional and fully knowlegable about all inquires . All needs met with professionalism
Slow service Dirty bathroom Dirty air vents in the room Very small room Shabby interior
THEY DID NOT HAVE ME RESERVATION.
Entering the hotel lobby you are immediately sent 100 years back; the location is more than perfect, the staff friendly, the complimentary coffe in the morning more than welcome. The hotel is a little bit pricey, especially if you come with a car - but, that's how it was a century ago, wasn't it? :) The rooms are not the newest, but they are comfy and welcome you after a long flight from over the seas... Recommend!
Hotel staff were very professional and friendly
Bed was very hard.. Towels had someones long black hair on them. On the 10th floor the hotel was still very loud.
Excellent service, lovely corner room. Great happy Hour in the bar
Very small unrenovated bathrooms
the front desk was very kind and helpful. the room was clean & it has 2 large - comfortable beds. clean bathroom. the lobby is warm and the chairs was comfy.
I liked the appearance of the lobby.
There were drunk girls up and down the hall the whole night being very loud. I mentioned it to the front desk and it never did stop.
I enjoyed the historical significance of the hotel.
The food in the cafe was mediocre at best. Housekeeping didn't clean my room until after 4pm.
Classic old hotel, good downtown location.
Getting a bit tired, but still a nice hotel. Drop off for check in is on street and challenging. It was pouring rain and with several cars checking in had to park across street to check in.
Location,old world charm
High room rate
friendly staff, happy hour in the bar
doors to rooms were very loud when closing
Comfortable room. Very quiet. Beautiful surroundings. Outstanding restaurant.
Wonderfully comfortable, beautiful lobby and great staff. All round a fine place to stay.
Beautiful hotel evoking an elegant bygone era. Staff was welcoming and helpful. The atmosphere is elegant yet friendly. Beds are comfortable and our room provided every comfort.
The great location
The a/C is a bit weird. Maybe it's because the old system( the benson has over 100 years history)
The concierge was friendly, smiling and welcoming on our arrival Sep 30th. So too was a server at breakfast, Kathryn on both Sep 30 and Oct 2. And a waiter at dinner on Oct 1.
The bar staff on evening of Sep 30 who spent over 10 minutes cleaning the bar and tables. We had to ask if they were closing, or, could we order a drink. Reception staff on our arrival Sep 30 - instructions for the elevator and the card system was confusing. When we returned for more info, she said "I told you ..... etc." Very off-putting!
The historical charm drew me in.
The outdated bathroom
Location is right in downtown very convenient restaurants pubs around the neighborhood
300 bugs per night? That's too much or I should get more from their services
Staff were friendly and knowledgable of the area. Hotel was very fancy and well presented. Lots of shops and restaurants in the immediate area
Everything was perfect
The decor was beautiful. The beds comfortable and the shower excellent. The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful with giving us directions and ideas. A very special experience. It is not your usual hotel. I really liked that we could leave our bags with the desk clerk after we checked out. That way we had the whole day to explore.
Some hallway noise. Sometimes it sounded like somebody was trying to come into our room, but I think that it was the room next door.
The hotel is beautiful and all the staff that we dealt with were wonderful and very helpful. The location could not be better if you are there to enjoy downtown Portland.
The only reason I rated the quality of sleep fair is because of the noise from the street. We had to go buy ear plugs. The bed and pillows were both great but that does not help much if all the trucks and delivery vehicles are out at 4am right outside your window.
architecture of rest of hotel
- size of suite for the price - centipedes on the bed!!!
Got a good deal from booking . Com... Comfortable bed, cleanliness, friendly staff....
Downtown is filthy....
