This place appears to be a former rehab center for drug addick. Many of the permanent residents look as if they are formerly on drugs or are recovering from an addiction. The place smell like a sewer and the rooms resemble a jail cell. If I may add, I think a night at your local police station lock up would be alittle more comfortable In the morning while checking out a group of Japanese travelers were expressing the same disatisfactions about their stay. Be careful they will try to charge you for the entire stay upfront to prevent you from leaving.

Cozy, perfect location for our trip, and affordable. It had all we needed: a bed for two. The staff was great too, however. Very sweet, endearing, and helpful. Breakfast was included in the price and was also quite nice. REALLY cute New Year's Eve party! Somewhat cramped room - The entertainment system set up was kind of in the way and useless. (Empty; No tv, just sitting in the room taking up space.) The Shared Bathroom was not really to my liking, though I dealt with it. I like having a personal shower, and the set up in the bathroom was a bit strange. No doors on the stalls and unisex; Could cause some uncomfortable moments. We got lucky and never had anyone else in there when we were, though.

The location, price and diverse travelers. I felt really itchy in my bed during our stay there. I finally slept on 2 sheets and a towel. We were there for 3 nights and when we returned home, my husband was covered in bites which appear to be bed bug bites. I am trying to wash and vacuum and I have put our luggage in the garage.

It was very nice hostel, almost just like a hotel. I had a triple room with three big closets, a fridge, towels and basically everything you need. It was peaceful place and very nice staff. You have to be willing to share bathroom with others. It's not the cleanest place but you can order roomservice and new towels.

Personnel at the front desk is nice. That is all nice I can say about this hotel The building was built in the 1950's and I think they didn't do anything about the interior since that. An average convent has more decorated and inspirational rooms than these. They are the most basic of basic and oldest of old. The blinds were so old and dirty that I didn't dare to touch them. Bring flip flops unless you want to catch some disease because you will get it. We paid $104 ex tax per night for the worst hotel I have been in. Any other youth hostel looks way better. Basic advise, do not book this hotel!

When I arrived, the person behind the desk upgraded my room to an apartment suite complete with a kitchen, living room and private bath. And it was huge! I really appreciated their kindness. And the breakfast was really great too. A lot of variety and great coffee.

The only good thing is location Beware!!! Never ever stay in this place!! It was a nightmare. I mean really - like waling dead, zombies are around. Rooms are like a jail, permanent residents are really like on the drugs. Noone will tell you, but they have project H.O.M.e on site. You even can see i't's nameplate on mezzanine level. I'm ok with homless people, but nobody wants to spent weekend next door to them. It was not clean, it was not safe and it was completely uncomfortable.

The location is good, 5 mins from the "t". One can get to almost all interesting Boston location in 15-20 mins. The cheapest option to stay close to Boston center. Pay attention, it has shared bathrooms. I knew it before booking but still... The room is very small, not suited for work. It does not have a table or chair inside, only the bed. In the morning there is not small amount of noise from the Berkeley street.

A welcoming happy clean place. Yes, it is a hostel and bare bones. Yes the bath is dormitory style. But the atmosphere is great, it truly is clean, and the location is perfect for Boston visitors.

Comfy beds and location was fine offers free coffe machine in the daytime and free popcorn also had a good cinema room and pool tables Well the breakfast was terrible , it looked great with the hot buffet and cold buffet , however, the hot breakfast was disgusting and wasn't fit consumption . The scrambled eggs where cooked so much they were hard and inedible the bacon poor looked transparent , the sausages were awful they must have cost no more than a penny each I wouldn't want to know where the meat for them come from. Apart from that they has some nice waffles which you made with waffle machines yourself and a selection of beverages that were ok . Also the place was more like a hostel than a hotel , although it said shared bathroom it didnt say you share it all with the whole floor! And finally I had the impression it was a half way house for the homeless of mentally insane! I am not mocking people with problems but when you stay at a hotel yiou don't expect to be told be people that your not aloud to come into the kitchen to get a drink or just stared at by people all the time you are their. As I said , not much of a hotel more institute , sorry I won't be recommending this hotel to anyone

Employees just do their best so that you feel confortable. The rooms are rudimentary but clean. Wifi and breakfast are included. I don't think you can get a better deal in Boston for this price

My family and I loved it! We stayed in the family suite. It was very homey. Also, there was a movie room, we played pool and there was free fresh popcorn as well as flat screen laptops! There were many stores and restaurants nearby. We took the train to td North which was in walking distance. The cost was very reasonable. The staff was very friendly. When I come back to Boston I will be checking into 40 Berkeley! Highly recommended!

Breakfast was good. There are many voriety and a lot of fruit. It was really good. There were not chair in my room and I had nothing to hang my towel. I had to go to convention center early in the moning and tried to change the towel at night but receptionist said I have to come back in the morning. When I came back to the reception in the morning to change the towel, receptionist said it is not ready. I was in a hurry and elevator was so slow and it took time but all my effort to pick up the towel and come down there by wating for elevator turned vain and I was almost late for the convention. I wasted my time like 25 minuties for go up and down and I got no new towel. 7 years ago Price was $56 with tax per a night when it was YWCA. My room was more than $100 per a night with tax and I feel price went up so high.
