No breakfast.. .they used to have the best breakfast in the dining room downatairs
Some noise in the next room/hallway. But I expected it. I was able to get adequate rest.
Loved the location. Convenient to finish of Boston marathon. Friendly staff and guest.
The towels were so hard and had stains. The staff at the reception did not know how to smile and were no so warm in welcoming us. There were only 2 bathrooms near us and 3 toilets and it would be difficult when there are many occupants. I had to get up very early to avoid the long line to the bathroom. The heater in the room was ancient and did not work. The room was so small for the two of us. You have to bring your own slippers and toiletries.
The location was near the subway station and the halls were quiet. There was free drinking water and coffee for breakfast. There were lots of facilities like in a dorm. It was near 7 eleven.
very friendly staff! rooms were simple but comfortable and clean. Location was excellent, just a few min walk from the centre. Coffee and pop corn available through the day.
The twin beds did not have fitted sheets and were very uncomfortable. Room had not been remodeled and was dingy. This was our 4th and last year that we will stay at 40 Berkeley during the marathon. It used to feel funky and fun, it now feels overpriced, old and sad.
Friendly staff. Great location.
The worker in the front desk would be better to use another languague we speake if he can, rather than urge us to use english, since our english is not good enough.
The female worker in the front desk is really nice, and do whatever she can for us to solve our problems, really appreciated it.
The price was high considering the quality of the rooms. The beds were not very comfortable.
The staff worked to accommodate our needs. The hotel also welcomed marathon runners.
Very overpriced on Boston Marathon weekend, but most places are. I'm sure it's a much better value most of the time.
Location was perfect for marathon weekend. Staff was very friendly and facilities were clean. Very basic amenities, as you would expect from a hostel, and beds were a little hard, but nice to have your own room.
The bed is too soft...
Very affordable price and very close to the expo and the finish of Boston Marathon
Las habitaciones están muy viejas y la cama es un "catre de guerra". Pero por lo que se paga esta bien y es limpio.
La conexion a internet es bastante buena.
Not clear if there is a retirement home in the same building
Good position and huge lounge - quite friendly personnel
The beds were very very firm which made it hard yo sleep. It was also quite noisy - we had a room away from the road noise but next to the elevator which needed oil. Generally the rooms could do with soundproofing and a way to adjust the heating.
The staff were really helpful, we were here for the Boston marathon and despite not normally doing breakfast every runner was given a breakfast bag. Also even runners who had checked out that day were given a towel and offered a shower.
Staff was not very friendly but it wasn't a big hassle. Bed is not very comfy.
Very friendly towards marathon runners, letting us leave bags and return for a shower after the race.
It's a basic hostel which charges a full hotel price. I only booked because of the Marathon, but it seems the price remains fixed at that high level even without the demand. Rooms are incredibly basic for a triple digit nightly tag.
It was in a decent location for accessing downtown
quite noisy, when doors are closing from other rooms or toilets I woke up every time.
location, friendly staff, value for money
I was there Friday before the Marathon Seemed like people arriving from world over variety in age, many runners overall a healthy and happy looking group. Young staff were friendly and helpful.
no dish in the kitchen, no parking place around the hostel
location, staff, nice relax area
Hotel in good location, comfortable and clean too. Wifi was excellent and fast
Close to downtown Boston and public transportation; clean; 24/7 reception
Bed wasn't the most comfortable.
Value, facilities, location, staff.
Overpriced, but still the cheapest available in Boston. God, I hate Boston.
Got the job done. It had everything I needed for my stay: a bed, a shower, and wifi.
It was very "hospital" feeling but It was fine and clean and served it's purpose, I suppose I'm just not a fan of hostels in fairness.
I stayed because the options in Boston were very expensive. It was a good hostel and I felt safe. The mix of people there was varied and not much of a group vibe, not that I was interested in that.
My party are not fussy and happy to stay in hostels, which is what I'd describe the Berkeley as. Unfortunately our rooms all smelt like dirty men's changing rooms. When we turned on the fan a blanket of dust circulated the room like a plague of locusts.
