What a fantastic hotel!! Loved everything about our stay. Great location, a couple of mins from midtown on the subway, then fanatic views on the walk to the hotel. The rooms were spacious and styled beautifully. Staff were very helpful (especially our driver Felix who have us some fantastic recommendations). Will definitely stay here again!
Nice spacious clean room Staff very friendly and kind Cool old NY taxi to drop you off
Really nice hotel, the loft duplex was just fab! And just what we were after. It was a short walk from greenpoint subway station (about 10/15 mins walk) on our arrival and also not too far a walk from the east river ferry which was great to see the views of Manhattans skyline. The hotel shuttle service was really handy and one of the drivers, Felix was really helpful. He suggest a cute diner for breakfast on our last day and it saved us traveling out too far. We also became engaged on out trip so will definitely be back to stay again!! The free wifi was super handy for helping up keep in touch with family and friends back home.
Having no wifi on my computer would put me off staying there.
This hotel is very welcoming and decorated wonderfully. It's got a hip vibe without trying too hard. The rooms are spacious and clean, with excellent in-room kitchenettes. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. Staff were attentive and polite. The ride service is a big plus for getting around the Greenpoint neighborhood.
Unique style, home from home feel, easy access to Manhattan, very good shuttle service.
Local area run down at present.
Excellent room size, beds, interior. Located in Greenpoint, very relaxed neighborhood yet close to subway and East River ferry. Free hotel taxi can bring you to Williamsburg. Very good restaurant on Ash st (3min walk).
I love the warm welcome you get at the reception,I commend Jeneka at the reception, the helpful hand of the door man Mr Philips, you feel at home.
Poor reception in the room, and the idea of going to the reception to make call with the landline.
I like the hotel, the facilities were perfect for a solo business traveler. The rooms are a lot bigger than any rooms you'll find in Manhattan, and the option of having a kitchen is great.
The walls are a bit thin. It wasn't a huge issue for the first 3 nights, but when a gaggle of pre-teens rolled in, for what sounded like a pajama party, sleep was difficult.
Homey environs, very helpful and courteous staff, complete facilities, clean and artfully decorated rooms/suites! Will stay here again the next time...
A little noisy in the morning due to an ongoing construction nearby
Unusual decor, great facilities, trendy and different. Felix our driver for the time of our stay was fantastic, told us things to do we would not have otherwise done full marks!
Good location (close to Greepoint & Jackson Av. Stations), nice place with very fancy deco, helpful staff...
The streets around can be a bit noisy.
The location is perfect for me as I have family nearby. Greenpoint has improved over the years I've been staying here due to new development. Great restaurants and take-aways.
The room I was in was somewhat dark due to it's location in the building.
Very pleasant space. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. Great local coffee shops and restaurants in an up and coming area of North Brooklyn. Very enjoyable 1st experience of NYC. Helpful and welcoming staff.
A little bit away from main day and nightlife activities. Subway made things reasonably accessible in day time but, as two women guests, always conscious that getting home required a bit of a walk across the bridge or from Greenpoint Ave. Once the bar/restaurant is complete it will make a positive addition.
Pack and play crib needed and ordered at time of booking. Not in room on arrival, still not in room after asking once. Came back from dinner late with our baby and it was just dumped in our room not made up. No sheets or mattress for it. When asked was told it was just a play pen! Not particularly dynamic or helpful staff.
The accommodation was very comfortable and felt homely. It was nice to come back at the end of a busy day and relax or have the use of the sauna or gym. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the shuttle car was an added bonus as was the laundry facilities. The view of Manhattan from the Polaski Bridge was amazing! It felt more like a home from home rather than a hotel.
The sofa bed was a little uncomfortable particularly at the point the cushions joined and perhaps a mattress topper would have remedied this problem. We didn't use the terrace as there was no view and the traffic noise didn't make for a relaxing space.
Big rooms large bathrooms (had to ask for flexible shower head which was promptly given)
not enough mirrors!!!! Bridal party did professional make-upl and hair in a few of our rooms. NOTHING given to bridal suite for their 2 night stay. Wine? Chocolates? Flowers maybe?????
It's really cool
The hotel was a great experience over-all. Exceeded our expectations, especially service from the staff. Having transportation for local events was a spectacular plus. The room set-up was excellent. We did not use the kitchen facilities, except to make some very good coffee provided by the hotel.
Unfortunately, our car was broken into while parked on the street in-front of the hotel. While most of your guests probably don't drive and park, the lack of protected parking is definitely a minus for the hotel.
Nice hotel, cool decor and clean. Balcony was nice.
Although we liked the local area it was a bit of a pain to get home from different parts of manhatten and citibikes don't cover the area. Bridge quite noisy. Staff were helpful but not as approachable as we'd experienced elsewhere. I think hotel is overpriced.
I am so happy that I decided to stay at The Box House Hotel. Upon pick-up from the 7 train, I was whisked away in the complimentary shuttle to this wonderful, beautiful, elegant, chic, hip, yet homely place. I arrived in the lobby through the beautiful stained glass doors into the chic art deco inspired lobby, and was immediately smitten! The staff was super friendly and helpful. When I was taken to my room, I knew I had made the right decision to stay here... truthfully, the pictures did not do the property justice, the atmosphere was vibrant yet peaceful and inviting. The room was clean, spacious, and comfy. The gym was awesome as well. There's tons of things to do, and eat nearby. I had the opportunity to visit this cute little Polish restaurant, where I had forgotten my umbrella after dinner, I notified the hotel and they had sent back the driver of the shuttle to get it for me. That's ABOVE AND BEYOND SERVICE! :-) I loved every moment here!
My only complaint is, it's nearest train is the 7 which sporadically runs on weekends at various stations, and the G train which wasn't running at all, due to construction. It's kind of a hassle to get back from the city late nights if you don't want to pay $35 bucks for a cab.
I probably stay at the Box House a couple of times a year because my daughter lives in Greenpoint. The hotel is comfortable and convenient. When you arrive there's water in the fridge and tea and coffee in the kitchen. Can't say better than that. The place is absolutely spotless...
The view of manhattan. The outside deck with comfy chairs. The location. The decor. Two TVs - one in the living area, one in the bedroom.
It would have been useful to have some information available in the room about the local area, recommendations for places to eat, etc.
Two subway stops away from Grand Central and connection all over the city. Shuttle to the subway or a short walk across the Pulaski bridge. Great kitchen facilities
Bridge traffic noise if your room faces the bridge. Otherwise very comfortable stay for our family of 4
Great service all round. Seems like a strange location to start with but only ten mins to subway and one stop to Grand Central, so Manhattan very close. A 20 mins walk to Williamsburg which has some fab places for eating and drinks. The room was like a small apartment and having stayed in Manhattan on previous trips to NYC it was much bigger than any room I have stayed in there. The staff were excellent and the complimentary shuttle service a great bonus.
