Quiet place, comfy bed, great facilities, lovely staff
Excellent location, wonderful ambience, very, very clean. It looks much better than on the pictures. The stuff is great, especially Felix, taxi driver with his recommendations and tips. All in all, if we go back to NY, we will stay in this hotel again.
Everything was perfect.
Helpful and consistent reception staff - good customer service. The drivers were always extremely helpful and pleasant…giving good tips. It was great to have the option to get a ride to the grocery store or subway after a long day walking. Great idea:)
There wasn't anything that I really didn't like however some improvements would be extra storage in the bathroom. Also it was hard to use kitchen area when the heating was on - it was too hot as it would blast into that area.
For the price of this accommodation you couldn't really ask for more (in New York terms of course). There is a driver to take you to one of the 2 subway stations located very close by, however we never used him as they are literally 5 minute walks. There are shops and restaurants near by too. The rooms were lovely and the staff friendly and helpful.
Loved this hotel, great service and fantastic space. But it is a bit off the beaten path. They do have a free car service to the metro, but there is only one car and you may have to wait up to a 1/2 hour. The main problem is arranging for someone to pick you up at night. There are not enough cabs in Brooklyn.
Great comfortable, funky hotel. Second time we have stayed. Will return. Love Greenpoint.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Car service was great and facilitated the location perfectly.
The fire alarm went off around 1am for approximately 20 minutes on 2 of our 5 nights there.
Lovely well appointed unit.
location was convenient plus the hotel had a complimentary taxi service that took us to the nearby subway stations and picked us up. the drivers also went out of their way to show us round the area, Felix in particular. the rooms were great - clean, comfy, had everything we needed. facilities were fantastic - kept in great condition, looked practically new Christine, Felix, the manager, Oscar and one of the other taxi drivers (I'm sorry but I can't remember your name!) - they were the best! Helpful, responsive, went out of their way, always friendly and chirpy. Made our day! Thanks!
there were a couple of staff who were a bit iffy attitude-wise and unhelpful - as if they didn't want to be bothered.
We received a warm welcome from the staff. Felix showed us to our room. He did a fabulous job of making us feel at home right away. The room was amazing, bright, modern and clean. The driver took us to the bakery in the morning to get bagels and coffee. Grand Central station is a 10 minute walk and one subway stop away.
Our room was an exterior room, facing the street. The noise of the traffic in the morning was a little annoying.
We found every aspect of this stay excellent. The staff were more than happy to assist with any queries or problems we had. The moment we walked in the front door we felt very comfortable and welcome. We would definitely recommend this to anyone travelling and wanting a great place to stay.
I really love this place! The hotel has good taste and the decor is amazing! It has a small kitchen, which makes me feel at home. The room is very big as well, I love everything there!
- Nice design (but really, a hotel should be more than a nice design...)
- This is not a hotel. It's an apartment building. There is no breakfast, no room service. - The location is horrible, it's in an abandoned part of Brooklyn that you certainly don't want to walk through on your own - I have no idea why this hotel gets such great reviews, it's completely unfit for business travellers, and even for tourists there are plenty of other options
Views of manhattan are great when walking over Pulaski bridge to the subway. 1 stop to grand central. Hotel will give you a lift if you don't like the walk. Also to Williamsburg with great bars and restaurants. Best meal was at 5 Leaves
Excellent building Great staff happy to take you to tube in style Querky definitely recommend a stay.
A bath rather than a shower would have been nice after a day of pounding NY streets
Loved wood floors, no nasty wall to wall carpet. Towels were clean and fluffy. Tall loft-like ceilings big bonus, printing themed decor was whimsical, fun and gadfly it was ask minimal. Separate area for the bed was also nice. Clean closets.
Bathtub was so narrow that the shower enclosure makes is so tight, banging elbows into it.& I'm a skinny ex-dancer. don't drop the soap! And shower alone. Toiletries are thin. Some milk/cream in the kitchen for the coffee would be nice.
Loved the art deco style artwork and cleanliness of box hotel couldnt be faulted.Wifi and use of comp was good . The drivers of free transport were excellent and very knowledgable and helpful.
Thought we had paid for loft style apartment with mezanine floor .Sofa bed was not fabulous for price we paid .The bathroom did not have any where to put make up toilitries etc and shower was so high up by the time water hit you was just about a trickle and was hard to adjust.was far away from anywhere to get food easily seeing there was cooking facilities . Mostly ate out .Shame they didnt do breakfast. Was gap in curtains that didnt keep out street light and could be noisy close to street
From the minute we arrived, we were treated as VIP! We arrived after midnight and were so exhausted. The room was so very clean and the decor was vibrant and beautiful, the beds were comfortable. The doorman and staff greeted us with all smiles. The drivers had the most class in all of New York City! Our driver, Felix, knew all of the best places to eat and visit. We never waited more than a couple of minutes for a driver. He opened our doors, carried our luggage, picked us up at train stations or stores whenever we called, Which was often because we were always lost. Any future trips for our family to NYC will always include a stay at "The Box House" hotel (assuming they're not full). I would never want to travel to New York City without Felix! Thank you staff and other drivers as well, (they were great too!) Christian and Singh. You made our first trip to the Big Apple our most favorite adventure yet!!!
The staff at this hotel are second to none, friendly, attentive, absolutely nothing is too much! The rooms are spacious and clean, have everything you need for your stay. The beds are SUPER comfortable! The best nights sleep I've had in ages. The drivers, Christian, Singh and Felix are excellent, really helpful on helping you learn where to go and what to do, always cheerful and full of smiles. We were greeted with the warmest of welcomes. The hotel is lovely and fresh, clean and perfectly decorated! It may be a little out of the way because it's in Brooklyn, but the shuttle took us straight to the No7 which took us straight in to Times Square for $2.50! If the 7 wasn't working (which at one point it wasn't due to a fire on the line), the driver can take you to ghe E train, which again takes you straight in to Manhatten. There are little mini markets just down the road for bits and pieces for the apartment, and eateries dotted here there and everywhere. All in all, I would have to give 10 out of 10!
Nothing... Everything suited our group perfectly.
Very unusual and quirky - great design features. Lovely comfortable and large room and the kitchen facilities were excellent. Easy walk to the subway and only a couple of stops into Manhattan.
Would have liked a bar/diner facility within the hotel as you didn't always feel like walking to find a restaurant in the evening or eating in the room.
(1) Wifi: signal should be improved (2) Room radiator: too noisy (3) Bed blanket: additionnal blankets would be appreciated...
Taxis are expensive in NYC so being a relatively short walk from the subway is fantastic! We checked out at 11 but they kept our luggage for us all day anyway while we went out.
Great staff, great room, great view (we had room with city view), close to purple 7 train, 10 min walk (just across the bridge) LOVE the bed! It felt kinda hard at first, but do think it was some kind of memory foam, and we both slept SO good!
Bad wi-fi it the only thing, the rest was perfect! The hotel staff told us that people with Apple products was the only people complaining, and we have nothing, but Apple :) :)
Hotel was very comfortable and very clean! Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
While we always felt safe and walked to a couple of nearby restaurants for breakfast, the neighborhood is a little run down and dirty.
We stayed as a family for 5 days and found Greenpoint to be an excellent location - loads of independent cafés, shops and delis with a laid back neighbourhood vibe that was cool but not too hectic. Great hotel, friendly staff.
Coming from East London, we appreciated the industrial chic of the old building and fantastic views across to Manhatten from the roof terrace. The only downside was vibration from the traffic on the bridge behind the hotel.
