The Brown Hotel  

Loved the professionalism and courtesy of the staff- so very nice. Love the history and beauty of the building, and the pride that the establishment takes in its own history. Beds and furniture very nice. Food and drinks are excellent. My favorite hotel in Louisville.

That the in-room coffee and tea service is kept in the bathroom- does not seem very sanitary to me and I went elsewhere for my morning tea. Also, perplexed that the late night menu in the lobby does not offer any type of food that would go with the wonderful cocktails that are being served. We wanted a Cheese plate or caviar, or Shrimp Cocktail, but were told that they weren't available but that a hamburger was- just a very strange item to have available and really not a very classy choice for such a beautiful room, and certainly was the last thing I would want with a martini. Hamburgers are for road trips, not for an evening having cocktails with friends- so we went elsewhere for some light food and cocktails, which was a disappointment as we wanted to enjoy the gorgeous lobby

The business meeting and food where good.

The expense for the room I had was ridiculous and the bathroom was not clean at all.

Very friendly. Very nice looking. Comfortable bed. Great water pressure in the shower.

While there is a shuttle downtown, it is only available if the shuttle is not taking people to the airport, and while we were there it was making a lot of trips to the airport. However, cabs came fast and it is under $10 to get downtown.

The history

The smell of rancid grease from the ventilation system in the english room along with the fruit fly problem. Bed too small for a couple to sleep in. Lack of staff at 4 -6 pm in the lobby bar. Made two attempts to pay my tab and finally gave up knowing that the server had my room #. I am sure a gratuity was added. I would recommend to others with caution.

The staff was wonderful and very helpful.

I thought the overall appearance of the hotel hallways and rooms were a bit "wilted". The floral arrangements on the desks, the potpourri etc... was aged past its' prime.

My room was beautiful and spacious, offering comfort, quiet, and privacy. I live in Indy, and love visiting the Brown, for mini-week- ends, away from the hustle & bustle.

The lady, who was working in the Hospitality Suite, Sunday, A.M., seemed disorganized, unprepared, and instead of cleaning and providing a continental breakfast, all she seemed to provide was excuses why she had ran out of the breakfast items. The lady on duty the previous evening was kind, and very accomodating however. Many visitors were unhappy, and after waiting more than thirty minutes for coffee, napkins, flatware, etc., they left feeling very disappointed, I know that I did, & after bussing my own table. I visit your establishment once or twice a year, as a week end get-away, but may have to reconsider.

Quiet downtown hotel with great food was perfect for my needs. The decor is very soothing and the bed was very comfy.

The Historical aspect and architecture.

The room we stayed in faced the street and the noise level was extremely loud from motorist & motorcylces way up into the early morning hours even on the 10th floor. The walls evidently are not insulated from adjoining rooms and you can hear every word & laugh of the folks next door, so if they have no intention of sleeping, then you don't get to either.

It is a well maintained old hotel with a lot of history. The staff was great. It is several blocks away from the points of interest we wanted to see, but it was pleasant walking to them.

The Brown is very elegant and the staff are very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed being at the lounge bar the night we were there. Also, enjoyed the staff in the dining room for breakfast. Hope to be back there again soon. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a classy place to stay!

We had an excellent stay at the Brown. It was our anniversary and this hotel was a destination in itself. Thank you for a great mini holiday.

Not impressed for the price would not return. The shampoo was terible

Lovely retro hotel with excellent amenities and service. Fine dining, beautiful gift shop, and large rooms. Top notch room service. Great wifi throughout hotel.

No refrigerator in the room

The English Grill is an excellent, fine dining restaurant. Beautifully old hotel with stunning lobby.

Complimentary bottle water would be a bonus.

The helpfulness of the staff and their friendly service, the breakfast and hors d'ourvres on the Club level, the decor of the hotel - like stepping back in time with all mod cons.
