Some staff was approaching too much. Each time I left my room and returned it appeared someone had been in it.
Had a great first visit . The property and staff were excellent.
EXCELLENT, KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF AND ROOMS WERE VERY NICE. RECEIVED AN UPGRADED ROOM FOR TRANSPORTATION INCONVENIENCE. EVENING LIVE ENTERTAINMENT WAS A PLUS.
The staff treats you as a valued guest from the moment you pull up to the curb.
Excellent location. Surrounded by a variety of restaurants for various budgets. The hotel itself has an excellent bar and lounge area. Happy hour every day from 4-7 and live music. Slept fine. No noise. Quality bedding, toiletries, and towels.
Towel rack came off the wall after putting a used towel on it. Rather odd.
Love the location, the historic nature of the hotel-- and the most wonderful staff you will find anywhere.
WiFi and cell phone signals can be suspect/nonexistent depending on which room you have. I wish they would upgrade that portion of the hotel! Otherwise, no complaints!
Interior decoration somewhat cheezy
The hotel is beautifully preserved in the Art Deco motif. Loved the bar with silent movies and music later in the evening. The service in the restaurant was excellent. When I mentioned on check-in it was my birthday, I received a cake with candle from the staff as I was sipping my "Dirty Harry" (named after the founder of Culver City) happy hour cocktail. The rooms were beautifully appointed. Robes -- and even a universal cell phone charger -- were provided.
Valet Parking was $15 a night. A bit pricey.
Bed bathroom and staff. The free continental breakfast was decent as they had fresh cut up fruit.
Cleaning lady was very loud next door at 8am. Banging around and slamming doors. I mentioned this to her and she said it must have been anther unit. I know I am a light sleeper but the AC was on loud so you can imagine how loud she was at 8am cleaning the room beside me. The location is bad if you take cabs to Santa Monica or Century City for shopping as it will cost 25 to 30 dollars.
Decor, quality of linens, added touches like fresh flowers, ambience and cleanliness.
Noise from street. Valet parking.
The location was centrally located to view universities and see the beach. I liked that there was not a lot of tourists.
The restaurants seating arrangements.
We really enjoyed the hotel while visiting family. We found after eating lunch across the street. Loved the traditional decor and the rooms were well appointed and comfortable. We had a nice nightcap in the upstairs bar that was very nice and had a nice light breakfast in the morning. Very nice.
You can valet park or park a block away at Trader Joes which is what we did. Not a complaint, just an observation.
The decor and overall atmosphere.
The food was pretty good but not as good as I expected given the price.
Great live musical, friendly helpful staff and cute rooms.
Comfort, position, ambiance.
Location. It was close to my meeting.
Noise outside in the evening. I needed to get up early so I went to bed early but the shouting and screaming outside was a bit of a nuisance!
Love the period feeling, the small size of the hotel, the live music, the friendly parking attendants and the location.
I was given the wrong room at check in. At first I was told no other rooms were available. After going back down to the front desk, I was told there was another room and given key cards that did not work. When I finally gained access to the room, there was a card welcoming me back. Obviously this is the room I was supposed to have been given to begin with, but all I got from the front desk staff was a bad attitude.
Very spacious rooms, nice furniture etc. nice building close to Sony and 30 min drive to Venice , breakfast room was great, daily live music
I had to leave...
Excellent service all the way around and the staff was extremely warm and friendly. Can't wait to visit again.
Beautiful historic hotel, fresh flowers in room, beautiful bathroom
Armoire too big for room
Great location, with a good mix of restaurants a few minutes' walk away! Easy access to key LA locations. Friendly, helpful staff at the front desk who are always ready to respond to any query.
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff.
Evening meal in the restaurant was poorly prepared and overpriced. Thursday night band was not the jazz group we had been expecting. Too loud.
I really like the continental breakfast - the granola was addictive. I also like the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel.
There is nothing in particular that I didn't like.
