The Declan is above an opera/theater and has a modern lobby with an excellent, if pricey, restaurant and bar. The rooms were a little tired but we're large with great views as they're so high up (lobby is on floor 12!). Walking distance to the gas lamp district (10+ mins). Hotel was quiet - we were there over new year and didn't get disturbed.
Pool is tiny and ice machine wasn't working on our floor.
located in downtown, easy access to trolley, clean room, very helpful desk
Good location and within walking distance of many sites and restaurants. The beds were clean and comfortable and the price for a location like this was amazing.
For four days we complained about the leaky bath faucet and it was never fixed. The wifi was erratic and staff listened well but practiced passive resistance.
Our stay was nice. My wife and I were celebrating 6 months of marriage. We had a few bumps in the beginning. We wanted got the King suite but when we arrived we were given a double queen. They changes the room an gave us a handicap King. The only issue was the shower. The water kept rolling into the rest of the bathroom. But to equal it out, one of the staff members brought us more towels and a refrigerator. The hotel is good. The parking lot is not my favorite. You have to go up 7 floors in a whirl. And then get to the 11th floor to park. They get the rest of their money by charging parking fees. But the value was still decent none the less. I may try somewhere else if we go to San Diego again.
Staff is kind and helftul
poor parking， not free no wifi
The hotel is very nice, beautiful rooms, attentive staff.
The staff were very helpful with suggesting where to eat, grab drinks etc. The layout of the suite was amazing as well, really big room for a great price.
The shower had some molding on the floor.
Room was beautiful and clean.
Staff were not helpful or friendly. Bell hop was high when picking up our luggage when we left We left some belongings in the room by mistake and staff were very unhelpful in retrieving it. We have to return to the hotel to pick it up from several miles away
Location,cleanleness ,viewand good stuff.
The A/C noise in the rooms.
Suite with separate living room area
Parking is $35 night
Refrigerator didn't work
Parking being $30 a night. :(
i was afraid with all the horrible reviews but when i got there it was surprisingly good! (Maybe i got the room that was newly renovated?) i booked a double bed suite and the bedroom and the bathroom was pretty clean. It had a small tv from the 90's in the room but they also had a flat screen tv in the living room. Rooms had free wi-fi and they provide a refrigerator upon request. The lobby and the rest of the facility was clean.
the parking! You have to enter a narrow spiral driveway up to the 7th floor then drive up a few more to park. Take the elevator to the 12th floor which is the lobby, then take another elevator that takes you to the guest rooms. I saw a parking lot across the street for 15bucks for 24 hours. If you packed light, i suggest you park there and cross the street to your hotel. Hotel parking costs you 29 dollars for self parking.
Location is excellent Room is large and comfortable Valet parking
Room heating broke down once Toilet got blocked Hot shower was dodgy on one night Self parking is impossible for MPV due to narrow carpark entrance
Service was good most of the time. Okay view at night. But not the greatest view in the 2room suites. Nice hotel but I won't stay there again.
Parking was a pain unless you like drifting and going in circles in the garage. Room wasn't as big as in the pictures on the web. I asked for towels and never got any one morning. Fridge door kinda broken but still kept cold, sink water had no hot water. Had small wifi but ha stop pay for better. Tv reception was bad and had to ask for another remote. Have to use two elevated to get to the room from the garbage and 3 to the ground floors. Room never had heat. It blew cold air every night. Our cards didn't work one night had to get it fixed. Vending was 1.59 a can.
size of the room, location
the parking arrangement. no reason why the parking shouldn't be free
Separate beds for 2 adults. It was nothing like it was advertised.
Nice big room, great staff, awesome location, close to gaslight district and the price of room was great. The view was absolutely breath taking!
The location is great. Close proximity to most of the attractions. Was able to use a taxi and go around the city.
Refrigerator was not provided. Had to request for basic stuff like coffee maker. No room guide available.
The room was clean. Kudos to the house keeping staff. I liked, that from this ocean view room, I had an unrestricted look at the adjoinings rooftop. As well as great shot of neighboring office building. If I pressed the side of my face against the window and looked from the corner of my eye, I think I almost saw water.
Paying $30 to park in the garage overnight. Seriously, I can have my vehicle valet parked at other local hotels. Have a bite or drink in the restaurant and they validate the parking ticket, I've seen, up to $18 for one drink in less than an hour. The same company handles most pay/valet parking lots in San Diego County, Ace Parking.
Beautiful spacious modern room, friendly staff, great views and location.
Parking was costly
Parking was very expensive and not consistent last day was charged almost double of previous days
