The Desmond Hotel    

The rooms are beautiful, the hotel is very classic, the staff could not have been more accomodating, and the restaurant was superb!

It seems the plan is to be user friendly. Little things like light switches that are lit up are so helpful at night. Staff that helps with baggage are very friendly and free newspapers are really appreciated.

Simpsons food was not very good. My wife felt the fish was not fresh. My filet mignon was overcooked.

I liked the location of being next to the airport, having a shopping mall with movie theatre nearby, and being able to get to Trader Joe's, Professor Java, and the liquor store. It was also reasonably easy to get downtown.

The room temperature was uneven. The gift store had a limited selection of snacks. It was a long haul to get from my room to the front desk. (I was in room 379). My sense was that the facility was set up for conferences and not particularly friendly to persons outside of the conference business.

It was a nice place.

Fun design as in old Colonial usa, kind of like Williamsburg, va. Excellent restaurant, close to the airport, fantastic room with canopy bed.

The beds were very uncomfortul. I had a hard time sleeping on them.

Lovve the decor, colonial. The courtyard is lovely, and reminds you of being in a colonial villaage with little shops. The three dining options. Location, park and fly.

As usual, I liked the layout of the property with the very interesting decor of Early American. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms and common areas very clean. The hot tub nice and warm and bubbly. The restaurants and bar yummy and beautiful to the eye.

Noisy group of college orientation students in the courtyard outside my room on Friday night until after midnight. There should be an 11 PM quiet time. There should be exhaust fans in the bathrooms.

My conference was at this hotel, so accomodations were convenient.

Really not worth nearly $200 per night with nothing included (I.e breakfast)

It was beautiful! It was cozy and I felt we didn't even have to leave the hotel to have a very enjoyable weekend. The food in the restaurants was fantastic and the atmosphere was superb!

The staff at the Desmond were extremely helpful. I needed to plan a luncheon to take place after my brother's funeral. The website allowed me to view the menus and prices of your different restaurants. When I called the appropriate restaurant Felice was able to guide me. When I arrived at the restaurant Roy was able to present me with a price fix menu that more than met my needs for my 25 guests. I was able to arrange this from my home ( 1500 miles away) and complete the task at your hotel. Thank you again for the assistance and the delicious food at this very stressful time.

The first morning of my stay I turned on the shower. After 5 minutes of running the water on hot there was no hot water in the shower but there was hot water from the sink faucet. I called the front desk and described the problem. I was told by the person at the desk that room 141 might be one of the rooms that had the shower faucet "hot and cold water reversed". Now, if you bill yourself as a luxury hotel I would think that you would either correct this problem or at the least have assign in the shower that warns a guest of the problem. The water in the shower would only be warm enough for a shower when the dial was turned to about the 2 o'clock position! Yikes!!! I did inform the hotel of the problem that night when a different staff member was working the front desk. Hopefully it has been corrected. I gather the hotel has more rooms with this problem. Additionally this room #141 is a room for handicapped people. Although I am not handicapped I asked for this room for the convenience of the walk in shower. However, if I was in a wheel chair and had this issue with the shower, I might have had serious problems with scalding myself as the shower handle was in the normal colder water positions. Hopefully this shower issue will be addressed before there is a lawsuit!

The Desmond has a unique character that doesn't allow a guest to think they are in a corporate chain environment. The staff is attentive and friendly.

When I called to verify my reservation and provide arrival information, the person at the front desk confirmed the details of my reservation including that I requested a room with a king sized bed. I explained that my travelling partner might arrive before I did, and gave his information to avoid a complication when checking in. The front desk representative exclaimed "you have a room with one king sized bed, and Darrin is a man?". I felt judged and very uncomfortable by the way this was said. I can understand verifying the one king sized bed part of it, should it have been a mistake, but the second part really galled me. I would expect that in 2012, I wouldn't have to worry about being made to feel uncomfortable like that, and was not happy with that interaction. Aside from that, the rest of the staff was attentive and professional, just as I would expect. If the Desmond does not want gay couples staying at their property, I would like to know that so that I can take my money, not to mention that of my very lucrative demographic's, elsewhere.

Restaurant staff were excellent. Had breakfast.

Hallway smelled musty, almost as of someone had tracked in skunk odor. Beds could be more comfortable. Bathroom was small, especially for 2 persons sharing room.
