No air conditioning and uncomfortable beds Carpeting in rooms dirty
We very much liked the location and the overall facilities.
Carpets and appointments are dirty and worn. Whole facility need redecorated and updated. Items are too old to really get clean.
The beds were comfortable
The pool and hot tub were really small. There were many kids there doing cannonballs off the side even when asked not to. The elevator is small and old and a bit scary. Everywhere you went there was an event going on. Going to sleep was hard because of the noise. It was a bit confusing to maneuver around the area. Overall it was ok but not great
very good restaurants
too far fm downtown
It was very clean, the water in the shower was very hot and there was great water pressure. It wa quiet and the in house restaurant was reasonably priced with a good variety of choices.
When I booked I called and was told the shuttle would take me where I needed to go and when I arrived I was told no it was to far, adding 60$ cab fair to my budget unexpectedly.
A hotel with lots of character
The ease of getting around the hotel everything was conveniently located.
Check in time could be a bit earlier.
For years I made the Desmond part of the Christmas gift I gave to my children. Comfortable, elegant, love the atrium......you always let us check in early so it really felt like a true mini vacation.....even tho we could only stay one night..the kids swam and swam and swam....it was awesome !!
What I didnt like.....hummm, if anything, I would have wished that ya'll had more " sweetheart" deals. I used to bring my kids then. As a single Mom with 2 Special Needs children...it was a terriffic blessing to me. Paw folks like to live it up too ya know! :)
Great location off the freeway. Country like setting. Excellent stay. Our room was large and very comfortable. A good value for the area.
No negative comments.
3 Restaurants and nice hotel layout
The hotel is huge and we were in the back so we kept going to the front with our car because one of the people in our party had some health issues so she wasn't able to walk distances
Hotel itself, room and grounds were clean.
My stay was to attend a wedding reception which was being held in the Desmond. When requesting an early check in 5 days prior, I was told that I would have to call back on Saturday morning - the day of the wedding and reception. Considering that my wife and I were driving 3 hours, I found this quite annoying. I attempted to request the same 2 days later and was told the same thing - call back Saturday after 7 AM. When I did call Saturday AM - I was told no problem. The food at the reception was poor - fair at best. First time I ever attended a wedding reception and received an ice cold steak.
Location Large Bathroom Comfort of the bed
At times the old smell
Great staff, friendly and helpful. Both restaurants and tavern are tops. Great location.
Some might say it is time for another makeover ... a few worn threads seen here and there
convenient location nice staff room was fairly clean restaurant good
court side was very noisy and prevented sleeping elevators dirty rooms not normally used had musty smell overpriced
Proximity to airport. Dining options.
Difficulty getting room keys to work. Took 3 tries before finally one worked. Problem with computer..?'
restaurant was terrific
ice machine(s) too far from room and broken beds need replaced (we rolled to center)
The spacious common areas were enjoyable. The room and beds were very comfortable.
Breakfast was not included in the price.
Location. Overall motiff/visual experience.
Checked in Friday night around 10pm. Front desk staff detached and aloof, and a little sarcastic. Hallway entering the building had significant amount of stains and dirt on the stairs. The hallway outside our room obviously had someone vomit recently, secondary to the copious amount of deodorizing agent used to "cover up" the smell, which was so potent it nearly made our lungs burn. I checked out the rest of the hotel, and realized our wing was the only one that smelled that way. Room smelled of mildew, and there were significant amounts of dirty fingerprints all over the windows, to which one is drawn to immediately secondary to the fabulous view out to the courtyard. The person that assisted in the check-out process was ok. I was extremely excited to stay at the Desmond after prior experiences at Holiday parties sponsored by the Capital District ymca on multiple occasions in years past (5-8 years ago). I have to say that it is very apparent that the facility has not reinvested in its grounds, and the staff appear detached and unfriendly. I have received better service at Holiday Inn Express on business trips. The value is just not there anymore, and as a business owner, I would not recommend it to my clients or personnel. As a matter of fact, I actually recommended a client to the Desmond prior to my trip last weekend. Upon returning home down in Westchester County, I immediately emailed my client, and recommended he stay at Albany Hilton instead, which I know, based on prior experience, is cleaner and has better service. The Desmond's primary impetus is obviously focused on banquets and corporate events, and obviously not on the experience in staying on location overnight. I'm sure t he Desmond's business will continue to flourish secondary to its location next to the airport, and its appeal as a great destination for events. It is a shame the company does not pay better attention to the hotel portion experience.
We needed an off and on exit for the trip we were taking. This is a great location. The breakfast at the restaurant was very good. We also love the decor. I used to travel here for a yearly conference, and this brought back a lot of memories.
We were on the first floor, and it was a little noisy with cars outside. The room was a little stuffy.
Close to airport. Quick service to and from airport. No extra charges for parking.
the beds - although we requested a king and got 2 queens
thin walls - heard our neighbors and people in the hall.
The service was great. Lounge was relaxing. Nice size room (king size bed).
We had to be relocated to a second room due to water leaking from an access panel in the bathroom. The room we were moved to was not as comfortable or well appointed as the original room.
Comfy beds - a great nites sleep !!
